BRING ON THE NIGHT
Tuesday, December 17, 8PM ET/PT

Buffy and the Scoobie gang struggle mightily to find a way to destroy the Ubervamp and are relieved when they are joined in the battle.

My review:

It's was a very good episode, although there were a few plot holes in it, I found. I squealed when Giles was back and giggled at the SiTs. The effect when the First kind of jumped out of Willow was a really cool effect. As well, her comment about "It went aah, I went eee." I also liked when Dawn was huffy about not getting to beat Andrew up.

Principal Wood is beginning to freak me out slightly now, with the look he was giving Buffy through the window after she fell asleep and woke up. I found it stupid that Annabelle went running off into the night, especially without any weapons.

Well, there's my two cents for now. ^_^

In Canada, where I live, the new Buffy episodes are shown Monday night on ASN. Which caused much hilarity when Sleeper was aired because it had the next day's date on it.

What channel is ASN? I'm in Toronto, but I watch it on The New VR on tuesdays along with everyone else....

T-minus 30 minutes!

And I have my chem exam tomorrow morning but dammit I HAVE to watch it!

Wow. Buffy got the crap, shit, and poop beat out of her. Never seen that before, myself. Spike's been taking a beating too, poor guy. Loved his quote, "Dru, love.. get bent". The SITs -- alright, I guess. I'm still unsure as to whether Giles is really dead, and it's odd that no one hugged him when he returned.. I mean, other than Willow, have they not seen him for a while? Oh well. T'was a good episode, though, IMO. Glad I taped it. It was weird to see 'Drusilla' yelling at Spike near the end, it was so OOC. But it was cool, because it made you know for sure that this was nothing like Dru.
Oh, and I ADORED Buffy's speech at the end. "Any questions?"

Okay.

1. The First's real form might be the horned demon that came out of Willow, since it said "You only make me stronger" or whatever. (see screen caps in the first thread.)

2. Why didn't the Turok-han kill Buffy?

3. That speech at the end seemed a little forced, but it creates a good cliffhanger for the next epp. I mean, Buffy just got her ass kicked by the ubervamp and she's had enough.. makes enough sense, I guess.

4. Annabelle's a stupid llama turd pile.

5. Dude, what's up with Principal Wood?

6. How come Giles never told Buffy how to kill the Turok-han?

7. As always, can't wait for the next epp, but I think this epp wasn't all that great...

I just wonder what would happen if the First and the Beast from Angel meet each other in an alleyway somewhere? 😛

I think that Annabelle was freaked out by one of those hallucinations and was too spooked to even stop and think.

well i thought it was a great ep...even tho I knew Annabelle was gonna die, I still got a bit attached in the short time she was on the show...*snif*....and wow buffy got her ass kicked! That makes the show more realistic i think...finally she gets whopped a bit...well anyway that eating joke with kennedy and willow was funny....and I can't wait to see what happens...after buffy's big speech in all....i'm looking forward to this new battle approach...yay!!

The episode felt kind of empty, but I'm not even sure what I feel they forgot. I'm not saying I didn't like the episode because it definitely wasn't boring. They didn't even show how Giles escaped the ax. It could've been better, but seeing Buffy get her *ss beat down was enjoyable...you know, the bad kind of enjoyable.

And what's with putting Spike's head in water? Hello...vampire.

Hilarious Anya quote:
"And you blew the council up! See, this is what happens when you're all stuffy and repressed. You overreact." Never can get enough of her.

I wager that Molly and Kennedy will probably die too (maybe not right away but it's obvious), and in the end Faith, Dawn, & Buffy will be left. But who knows what'll happen to them...

Is it me, or are the Big Bads from both BTVS and Angel this season really super strong and super freakin' pist? They seem to truly overpower the good guys, which creates what FivebyFive brought up, "the bad kind of enjoyable." The fight scenes between the Ubervamp and Buffy were good in a scary way, since she barely survived. I felt really bad for Buffy, seeing her all beat up and all. I also felt for Annabelle. It wasn't clear why she just ran off for no reason. As for Giles, some viewers predict that he might actually be the First Evil since he never touched anything or anyone the whole episode. I just hope that the writers did this on purpose just to make the fans think he's really dead. Besides, how could they have the show "Ripper" if Giles gets killed off now? It wouldn't make sense.

The only way they kind of addressed the 'vampire in water' thing was by The First saying that 'their kind is hard to kill'. But you would think that holding a vampire underwater wouldn't do anything at all. Meh.

I certainly enjoyed it. Would have been better if UPN's feed wouldn't have kept blacking out here.....

I still have to gather my thoughts on it all. Will post again later 🙂

I think that what was missing is the warmth we see between Giles and everybody, especially Buffy. That was missing from tonight's show for obvious reasons (we just don't know what those are). I will always maintain that the appeal of giles is the patriarichal role he has in the gang, and when that is gone, we are, in fact left cold.

Kennedy? Die?
But Kennedy is Willow's new love interest! How could they kill Will's new love interest?? Unless they decide to bring *ahem* an old, OLD love interest back....

Ooops...was I hijacking again?? No one read that....unless you're FiveByFive....5x5, please read...😀

So is Joyce the first evil? This has got me really wondering, because Joyce and Giles seemed to be pulling Buffy in opposite directions, so I don't know what's up there....

Actually, Buffy was the one to close the door. I was all for believing the Giles was still alive, but if you look at that scene again, you can see Giles sort of 'flinch' away from the door as she closes it. As if he were afraid he was about to touch it, which of course he would go right through it if he is truly the First. I still don't believe he is dead, although there isn't a bit of proof telling us he isn't.🙁

Yeah, you know...you count on Giles to always make things better & cheer you up, and then he goes and dies on you. Lol. Supposedly. I don't think any character's death would hurt so much as Giles' would. But, D_9th, you know who the exception to that is, so don't even say it.😀

I didn't even have to read it to know what it said.😉 So, yeah, keep Kennedy around for a little bit, then just kill her off 'cause I think somebody else is waiting in line for some Willow-lovin'.

About Joyce: I believe it's the real Joyce, but I don't have anything to back that up with; it's just what I believe.

Okay, firstly, I thought the episode was a little slow. I mean, not THAT much happened.

I wish the fight scenes between Buffy and ubervamp were a little less one sided. I mean, he just totally kicked her ass, I didn't enjoy it all, because there wasn't any actual good FIGHTING in the fight scene. it was just him beating her up.

Dawn and Anya were great with the Andrew torture. I think he still has a role to play, otherwise, why is he still around? maybe HE'S the one to save the day this time 'round. lol.

I hadn't really thought about Giles being the First, but that's a VERY interesting thought. I was about to say that he gave Buffy the files on the First, but even that he didn't do, the girl took it out of her bag. Man... that scares me, that it could be Giles. But why have three SITs in the first place? Why not just kill them and show up as Giles anyway? It's not like he needs to gain Buffy's trust or anything. And if he IS the First, he'll know all about Buffy's go-get-'em plan!

The scene between Xander and Andrew was hilarious, when they both laughed at the same joke (I didn't get it, but the scene was funny).

About the thing that came out of Willow. obviously the First, but I thought he looked kind of LIKE the demon on Angel. now, I don't honestly think that it IS the demon on Angel, but it was weird. And why do the locator spell on the First? Why not do it on SPIKE?

That girl who ran away was stupid. just plain idiotic. I mean, REALLY. SHE was the one who was all "We're with the SLAYER... what could go wrong?" and then she runs away, and BECAUSE of her, Buffy gets beaten up so bad. GAH!

So what CAN kill this ubervamp anyway? HOw about WIllow mentioned-but-turned-into-an-orge-ball-of-sunshine-spell? the one from the episode where she released Anya's ex from the crystal? She was going to make a ball of sunshine to kill vamps. I mean yeah, this is the UBERVAMP, but I surprised she never tried it again.

And yeah... I don't know why water has any effect on Spike... uh, he's a vampire. he doesn't BREATHE. Angel was underwater for four months and HE didn't go unconscious.

Still freaked out about Giles possibly being the First...
