Official Discussion of 7.20 "Touched" (UPN-US)

is it? i thought it was an axe with a gold/red handle.. either way, looks awesome

cliffffffffffffff

that fight between caleb and buffy wasnt what i thought it'd be, and i hope all the potentials get blown up, and more spike/buffy scenes

ok, exactly what is that weapon supposed to do? and why oh why did caleb put it there? it's not like he didn't know they wouls show up, i don't think it'll be good to take it....

bomb?! Dont.... kill.... faith!

i almost convulsioned when i say harry groener in the credits, i didn't know he was gonna be there!! now the series can end!

well, until the fights at the end, i thought this was gonna be a slow ep, but i'm glad i was wrong!

it was kinda funny to see wood still kinda cling to faith after the sex. shame for him that he dosent know having sex with faith is next to meaningless for her. remember when she slept with xander and then pushed him out of the hotel and was like "hey that was great, gotta shower - bye!"

glad buffy got some brains and doged caleb. she was like her old "mock the enemy while we fight to our death" self again! it was a lot like the fight with angelus vs the beast, where the whole point seemed to just be pissing him off.

this weapon seems interesting. but where the heck did it come from? please dont tell me it's some kind of slayer's ancient weapon (that's been hidden in the same place buffy's lived her whole life), cause that would be kinda lame.

finaly, this bomb thing has me a little freaked. ever since the vineyard, since what happened to molly and xander, i've been fearing that he would kill more people. when they opened the bomb i was like "ok we get it whedon, nobody's safe - now stop killing people!"

by the way, the scene with willow and kennedy: NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!! 😉
i think iyari limon (kennedy) went farther (in sex scenes) in this ep than amber benson did during her whole run! now THAT's acting!

Although the final story arch started 2 eps ago, for me this was the beginning of the end!

- Faith's idea to kidnap a Bringer backfired big time and Giles seems to have lost his touch completely. After they found out that the Bringers cannot talk, he should have realised that they are communicating telepathically. If not then, he should have known when the Bringer (through Andrew) talked about "we". Everything he said and heard must have been passed on to the other Bringers. That's how they managed to set up the trap! they knew all along that Faith and some SITs were coming.

- Sweaty Bringers digging into rock underground....looks like they knew the weapon is down there, but not where. The First seemed rather impatient with Caleb, that it had not been found.

- The First is not supposed to find the weapon, why else would the trap door close behind Buffy and be concealed with a barrel? Caleb accidentally pushed that barrel aside and the door opened for Buffy only! She alone will have what it takes, to pull it out of that black stone.

- Faith and Wood?! He opens up to her and she uses him. I was really surprised, when she brushed him off the next day. I was hoping she would find in him what she was looking for. Their dialogue during the "scoobie" meeting was harsh:
Wood: What can I do?
Faith: Buy a phone and I will call you when I need you!
Wow! Deep down, she has not changed much.

All in all a great episode and I can hardly wait for next week.

Didn't the previews show Buffy with a sword? And now she has an axe instead?

Not too much to say except I hope the ending justifies the amount their hyping it, and does the series justice. Can't wait for next week!

Oh one thing I did notice was there was what 4 or 5 seconds left on the timer when the screen goes black, yet you hear it count at LEAST 3 more beeps down, that means Faith has 1 or 2 seconds to start running? She's done. She has to be done. There is no way she'll get out of this one. Ok ok there's probably some way, I'm not watching the previews for next week even just for the added suspense factor. 😀

Anyone ever read the Whedon comic book Fray about a slayer in the future?? If so, then you should know what that weapon actually is. Anyway I guess I'm the minority on this one, I thought it was okay, and it would of been much better without the Faith/Wood and Willow/Kennedy sex. It felt useless, and rather pointless. I just can't stand Kennedy, never have, never will. I enjoyed the Buffy/Caleb fight, or the anti fight since they didn't really pound on each other. Faith and Spike clashing was nice, and the return of Wilkins was great to see. I didn't like the shaky camera work at the beginning, and I understand that it was done like that to convey a hectic situation and such, but it just felt wrong. I'm happy Buffy regained some confidence near the end. It's a sign of her true old self. But Willow and Kennedy...why..just why?? Lets kill Kennedy off Whedon, she's a pain, and gets special treatment as a potential. I hope the final 2 episodes are amazing, because this one was middle ground with me. I just want to see it wrap up nicely, and I'm getting worried here.

Yeah, the thing in the stone looks to be a very ornate axe.

About that timer:
Note: this next part isn't technically a spoiler since I don't read those--in fact I don't even watch the trailers until after I've seen an episode (I know that seems strange), however you said you don't want the suspense wrecked and I respect that. "I've got a theory..." but that's all it is.

First of all, the writers can always exercise "dramatic license" (I think that's what it's called) and put a few more seconds back on the clock at the start of the next ep. Second of all, did you happen to notice what was under the metal grating she was walking along? It looked like murky water to me. If she dives into it really fast, the water could mute the shockwave of the explosion. That's where I'd go if I were her. But then after that, there'd be the problem of dodging the debris. Or hey--maybe Faith'll just miraculously cut the wires. 🙂 Yeah I know, that'd be lame... Or maybe bunnies'll save the day.

The episode was really good, yes. And Buffy doesn't seem to have fallen nearly as far from grace as I was predicting. But I'm hoping a lot that they do something more interesting than simply have Buffy slice Caleb with a great big "Chosen One" axe. That would be too cliche, IMHO.

I'm pretty sure the preview with the sword(the part they show every week before the actual preview of the next episode) is just clips from Selfless, during the fight with Anya. I don't remember seeing Buffy with a sword in the actual preview, aside from the "the countdown has begun" section they show every week.

OMG!!! This ep kicked ass!! The ending was to die for.😱 😱 I'm a little disappointed that the weapon is a axe or scythe or whatever it is. I was hoping for a sword. Anyway, I thought that it was weapon from the description of it last week. It was cool to see the Mayor back. He really shook Faith up and planted doubt in her head about Buffy. I hope that she doesn't try to hurt Buffy because of it. Can't wait for next week's ep. Angel is back!!! The action is going to double if not triple. *sigh* After that ep, the last Buffy ever is going to air. I'm really going to miss Buffy. but it had a great 7 years!!😛 😛

The scythe

The weapon sure looks like the same as the one Melaka Fray uses, in Joss Whedon's "slayer-in-the-distant-future" comic book, "Fray." Her ersatz watcher gives it to her, saying, "It is a weapon, forged eons ago, for the slayer alone. Lost for centuries. Carry it, for it is your sword ans your scepter. Let it proclaim you the hero--and the monster--that you will need to be. Make your war."

Well then, it probably is. Interesting about the "monster" part. Thanks for the quote.

Just curious--how far in the future is this slayer? 'cause I'm thinkin' that Buffyverse future might not be all that far distant afterall.

Yall is giving this ep too much credit...

I've watched allot of porn in my day...how does this impact buffy thread...simple...about 5 minutes this episode was about as softcore porn as you can get on network tv...not really wood or xand man...but the way they shot kennedy and willow looked very very familiar to some of the other films i've seen...if yall think this is what makes this episode great...yall need to order some spice channel or something...stuff like lesbian soft core ain't supposed to be on network tv...

faith is a good leader...she knows when to lay down the law...that is very important...soliders take orders from compitent officers...thats how it works...

Xand man and his patch...looks good on him...

the caleb/buffy fight scene wasn't as great as yall is giving credit for...it had no special effects or special choreography...or special camera angles...all it utilized was slow motion...wasn't even close to the other crazy fights we've seen on this show...

buffy...has come full circle...because of spike...she'll comeback to lead them...i have a feeling that faith as a leader will be short lived...

last point...Hell yea WOOD....falkin hit that yo...Wood is my hero...

put it this way...dirty girls was allot better...in everything but wood's part...

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. (See, I'm guessing the reason why this happened is because it's in the preview. But I don't actually know for sure since I don't watch them until after I've seen the episode.)

But look on the bright side--after next Tuesday, you'll only be able to be spoiled one more time.

EDIT to ADD:
For the benefit of the poor unfortunates who don't know--it's easy to add spoiler warning to your text. All you have to do is put the word SPOILER in brackets at the beginning. (these things: [ ] ). Then, at the end, put /SPOILER in brackets (notice the forward slash at the front).

does anyone know what that song was and who it was by? the one playing during the couples montage otherwise known as lotsa sex?

fray takes place 300 years in the future, i think. it tells of the fact that buffy and her friends got trapped in a hell dimension. i really hope that isn't the way the series will end, because i read that comic last year and i've been saying it for a while. vampires were gone but in 300 years they reappeared as "lurks" as they called them.

Ok, like everyone lese I thought this was an amazing episode. I now feel better about Buffy getting kicked out the way she did last week. (That sooooooo ticked me off!) I think they did her a favor by kicking her out. She works better alone, because she doesnt have to worry about protecting people. When Spike started defedning her and putting everyone in their places in the kitchen I was so happy! It brought tears to my eyes.

What I dont understand is that if they kicked Buffy out last week for not wanting to go back to the vineyard, why would they follow Faith back there? Wouldn't they have fealt safer with 2 slayers, instead of just one? It makes no sense to me.

I think that it is good for Faith to be the leader, even if she does screw up. She seems to be hung up on Buffy, and Faith needs to accept who she is and be happy with who she is. The Mayor must have had some affect on her because she still sent people to check up on her. Obviously the First was trying to set Faith up by playing on her weaknesses, just like it has done with everyone else. And it worked. But Faith isn't used to this responibility, so I can understand her hesitations and mistakes, I just hope she gets it together fast!

I dont think Kennedy is going anywhere, that would really be too much for Willow. However, I just do not like Kennedy and Willow together. I keep comparing Kennedy to Tara, which I know is totally unfair, but I cant help it. kennedy just makes me mad sometimes.

I thought al the lovin' was cool. I am proud of UPN allowing it to go as far as it did. I love that Spike and Buffy just held each other.

As far as the "fight" scene it was kind of funny at the beginning, with the Matrix style effects, but I enjoyed it. I think the weapon was a sword and an Axe. Is it going to be like a "Sowrd in the Stone" scenario, where she is the only one to pull it out? Or can any Slayer pull it out? But I agree, it was great to see the look on Buffy's face when she saw it for the first time.

I wonder how many people will be killed or hurt from the bomb blast, not too many I would guess, but definately some. What will the SIT's do if some of the gurls die and/or get injured, will they kick Faith out too???
