Official Discussion of 7.20 "Touched" (UPN-US)

Well, first of all, it may not play out that way. Second, maybe it's not that all the demons will disappear; maybe it's just that
the hellmouth will be gone or closed
. Thirdly, the Angel and Buffy multiverses may move in different directions (but I kind of doubt it).

You know, I had wondered about all of that...but what you've said, Wyrd, makes sense. 🙂

It should be noted that my "spoiler" is not a true spoiler--because I don't read those. It was just a guess I felt like blacking out because I feel it has a high probability of being true. (Regardless of the comic book stuff.)

Of course, I've been known to have guesses that were completely wrong before, so... who knows? 🙂

I kinda liked this episode, my biggest issue is all of the sex in the episode, while I certainly have nothing against love-making on tv, i think shows like Buffy should shy away from it. but that has nothing to do with the episode its self and more to do with the writing. As for the episode, I came away with 2 things, first it was good to hear someone finally stick up for Buffy, good ol Spike.

2nd was how the first came back to visit Faith as the mayor, I was a fan of his when he was on and it was good to see him again, I think when Faith sent spies to watch Buffy it was not to see if Buffy is allright but rather to keep an eye on her, the mayor got into Faiths head.

And finally for those of us who supported Buffy you can see clearly that Buffy was right all along, while Faith lead them into what looks like a pearl harbor, but I suspect that it looks worse then it will end up being.

To the "what the heck is that weapon argument" it is supposed to be the weapon from Fray. I don't read the comic but know people who do and they tell me it is a scythe. I also did a web search for Fray just to be sure and, yup, it is indeed a scythe. It may look like an axe, but it isn't.

Now, to dr Morgus, I'd still have to say that Buffy was wrong. Pretty much everyone agreed that there was something at the vineyard. That was never really the question. The question was whether or not Buffy was right to order the 'army' to return. The only reason Buffy wasn't beaten into a thin red paste by Caleb was that she avoided him (it helps I guess that he isn't actually allowed to kill her). With a room full of SiTs that plan wouldn't have worked (you don't create a target rich environment when you are planning to play a little game of 'keep away'). They had already proven that an assualt on Caleb was impossible and that was what Buffy was suggesting. So Buffy was still wrong as far as what she wanted to do, she just had the right idea about where to look.

Faith did indeed lead them into a trap, it happens, and has happened to Buffy on several occasions. Faith at least had more of a reason to request that the SiTs risk there lives than a simple hunch, and she had a plan. Things didn't work out, but that happens. The gang wasn't wrong to support Faith, they just had a bad break and were tricked by the First. Faith's plan was sound, Buffy's wasn't. Faith's plan might end up getting some SiTs killed, but it may have ended well had it not been a trap, which no one could have known. Buffy's plan would have ended with many of them, if not all of them, getting slaughtered even if it had gone perfectly. Taking that into account I'd say that Buffy was still wrong and the gang was justified in their actions.

Yes, but, realistically speaking, this sort of "we did the right thing--who cares if it turned out wrong?" arguement doesn't score many points when people get killed.

Expect the surviving characters to be doing a lot of soul searching and saying, "oh woe is me, why did we ever doubt the One True Buffy?" ick. That was the part I didn't really like about the episode. It's like the message is, "don't think things through or make plans--you'll just get killed for your efforts. Instead, make stupid, against-all-odds gambles that have no chance of success. Yeah. That's the way."

Wow - I loved this ep. I don't understand why people wanted Spike to hit Faith more. I think that both sides of this Buffy argument do have points that are valid. Anyway - loved Spikes speech, and I think Faith did a good job. I was so glad that she brought Kennedy down a notch - that girl is starting to get on my nerves thinking that she's the one that knows everything...

I agree that the sex scene was a little too much. I think it's great that they showed Willow and Kennedy getting together but I mean it's a tv show that all should be able to watch and I thought it just went a little to far. But still loved everything. Interesting to know that the First has a desire to "feel".

Yay for seeing our good ol buffy back in action at the end too. She just hasn't seemed herself for the past many eps. I totally can't wait for the next episodes.
