Official Discussion of 7.21 "End of Days" (UPN-US)

I just saw it, can I say WOW-WHEEE!

I had goosebumps all over at the end, and my heart is still pounding (15mins after it), if I feel like this now, how will I feel next week, after Chosen.

The Dawn thing was cool, though I'm glad to see that both her AND Xander will be on board for the last ep, Angel totally rocked, he made Buffy and Caleb look like nothing. But I did feel a little sorry for Spike.

In the aftermath of the explosion, the potentials really showed potential (pun intented) in fighting, and Kennedy showed great leader-potential. The whole scene was cool, not that she actually stood a chance against the Oobies, but nevertheless, the thing was great!

yeah i saw this epi yesterday and i loved it. the scythe is the coolest weapon in buffy history. the sound it makes when it cuts through the air WO WO WO! the UberVamps were creepy but buffy killed them with ease. just shows how much she has developed over the season. i never realy liked Vi befor this epi, but now i do. Andrew and Anya was realy funn when they were having the wheel chair fight! hehe. caleb is dead yay! but honestly i dont know what this leaves us for the finalie? i liked it when he punched buffy up into the wall and he puntched her before she fell to the ground. this has crosed my mind many timed before but i think the frists true form is the big demony think it changes into.

I thoroughly enjoyed Angel's little comments, but the best part of the episode for me was when Faith and Buffy talked. They seemed to clear the air a little and I think they actually bonded.

I really like how Angel knocked Caleb across the room and stunned him long enough have that little chat with Buffy. That shows how strong and effective he's gotten in the last four years.

"Chosen" will be bitter-sweet. BItter because there will be no more Buffy and sweet because they did such a good job with "End of Days" that "Chosen" has to ROCK!

I got mixed feelings about this episode.

Lets start with the good stuff, and theres plenty.
Its got several good and important moments scattered through it, as expected from whats sadly the 2'nd last buffy ep ever. An explosive start so to speak, tension filled moments following the sits regrouping and fleeing from the ubervamps. Loved every moment of that, great direction. Spike/Buffy interaction and the Dawn/Xander, Buffy/Faith scenes; all great material. It was good to see Giles back in research mode with some decent onscreen time too. Highlight of the episode comes in the last few mins of course, the Buffy vs Caleb showdown in the temple, wonderfull choreography. Angle showing up with impeccable timing was goosbump material indeed...he came off very impressive. In addition to all the action and important dialogue we also got an more upbeat episode overall. Jan Espenson probably added this much needed touch to it (I'm sure the whole Andrew/Anya scene was her writing).

Now for what I find less appealing/confusing.
The explosion seems almost like a wasted plot element now, I didn't manage to count dead sits, and tho it left them pretty beaten up it didn't seem catastrophal enough in a way. Even Faith, standing right next to a crate full of C4 didn't get a visible bruise. I was expecting a more dramatic outcome of last weeks cliffhanger.

The ubervamps seemed a bit like a forced plot element too. In the previous episode having one of those showing up it was a big deal. Buffy taking a crowd of them out with such ease seems to diminish the effective dread we've felt all season. And I'm left a bit confused to how they made it there. Did they come through the seal like the first ubervamp?

I also found the whole scythe temple thing oddly confusing. Perhaps I'm missing out on something here, but did Giles and Willow narrow down a location for the temple before Buffy left? Calebs entry seemed a bit forced too, tho undeniably effective. Was Angle and Spike informed of the crypt/temple location as well or did The First guide Spike there? I suppose he coulda followed Buffy too. Realizing this is a show after all perhaps its over the top nitpicking to get distracted by such details, and I'm sure we'll get more explained next week.

All in all a great episode, but counting its the 2'nd last ever I'm not sure I'd call it awesome. Alot of the threath seems eliminated at this point (given Caleb is dead, tho I'm not 100% certain thats the case..). The thought of an evil Spike worries me. I hope theres more in store for the final episode than a Buffy vs evil Spike showdown (and frankly, if Spike goes evil again it seems like one times too many). I'm sure theres grand surprises in store for the final act tho 🙂 Can't wait.

well this was some awsome episode!

I liked all of it until well Spike came in the front door then it went all mushy and I wanted to throw up, I like the Sycthe thats one nice lookin weapon for the age of 1000+ yrs basically.

The First and Caleb thing was soooo cool and finally we know why hes all super guy

wow did it surprise me when Xander put Dawn to sleep and omg Dawn killed Ms Kitty Fantasico!!!!!! thank god she was just a winey brat back then or else I would want to kill her.

I liked the Anya and Andrew part with the drink and the girl going"What!" I liked them in the hospital to and nice of Anya to remind me of graduation and Buffys bedroom seemed bigger since im used to the small bed and now she has the big bed, the bed of the master, and the humans thing between Anya and Andrew, just funny hey I just realized the most comedy charecters both start with A in their names and have N after the A! LOL the weelchair fight is soooo funny.

Wow old lady talk about looking ancient, oh and shes another Slayer who somehow was able to stay alive guess shes a guardian of the sycthe, wow is it cool to know that the Slayers rebelled oh intresting very very intresting ok the Slayers just got more intresting and AHHHH damn u Caleb I wanted to hear the rest of the story! but scary

Well the car ride is certainly intresting, ohhh letter how intresting, oh nice note nice that Buffy hasnt forgotten about what she said and wow where in the hell did Dawn get a taser thingy(forgot the name)

Buffy and Caleb fight very nice and atleast now we know why Caleb is so hard to beat and wow is buffy getting her butt kicked ouch that is ouch, OHHHH Angel! oh thats sooo what ive been waiting for and exchangeing of nice words, oh how isnt it amazing how they make each other smiles and Buffy always seems to kick Demons asses when Angel is around guess what that Morha Demon said in I Will Remember You is true, they are stronger together and oh looky end of Caleb

Oh yay B/A kiss!!!!!!, oh Spike and The First Amzing EP!

9/10 since i had to take off for the Spike mushyness part

OMG next week, finale ep and OMG it looks sooo Cool and WIllow with WHITE HAIR OMG OMG OMG strap me down im going insane I cant wait!

cant believe its actually ending...........one really cool thing...is that they mentioned kitty fantastico.....haha....i was like did Dawn just say that??? also dawn must have some skills to drive while zander is still in the drivers seat..movin his legs around a lot??

when angel came....this big grin just came over my face...it was great!! the ending with the first and spike.......wow.....spike....he looked good there!!

Buffys power with the scythe is amazing.....i cannot wait to see how it all goes down the last episode....its so sad to think about....but wow.....7 years....and whenever i think about.....and watch buffy now...her character has changed so much.....shes not as giddy all the time.....or just other things have changed too....im gonna miss it all!!!

That was pretty awesome... now we get to see Faith fight (hopefuly) all well and all. She gets to put back on that denim jacket kick some major butt. It was awesome to Buffy and Faith talk and actually understand each other. What else can I say? Um, Dawn and Xander... that part was hilarious! I never expected for Dawn to do what she did especially when she loves Xander so much!!!! lol... Well, overall good episode...

I just watched it and oh my god it was great... Angel looked good! Poor spike though ah its mind troubling, i'm just upset there is only one more left. and Dawn.... I think she was just a tad bit pissed off. love her attitude! wish this season could last longer but all great things must end, BTVS is a great show and with its true fans it shall always be remembered.

I thought the episode was fabulous! I can't stress how thrilled I was (I squeeled at the telly) when Angel appeared. What a perfect ending! I'm ecstatic that he's back to help Buffy in the final fight. After all, they are meant for each other. 😀

damn, what the hell is buffy kissing angel!? nooo, buffy and spike belong together, finally caleb dies, the season finale is gonna rule!

what the f***!!!! tonight's ep was definetly awesome just like the rest of the season... the only thing I didn't like was how everyone feels that nice little heartfelt moment when Spike tells Buffy how he feels about her and then boom... he sees her kiss ANGEL... UGHHHHHH... obviously Caleb isn't DEAD or he wouldn't be in the preview for next week... maybe the First uses his body or something... I dunno and I don't wanna spoil the whole ending for myself...

This was an interesting episode. I thought that it was pretty funny how Anya and Andrew had that wheelchair fight. Nice hillarity to break up the otherwise serious episode. I liked Giles reaction to the groceries - "Jaffa Cakes!" lololololol

The scythe rawkz! 😛 To all who thought it was an axe, nah, nah, nah! Natch! Next week should be interesting with all the uber vamps. Willow's hair goes white? That's mucho wierdo. Maybe, she'll dye it red later. LOLOLOL

I liked the Guardian lady. She was funny. "What is your name?" "Buffy." "No, really?" LOLOLOLOL I keep expecting something bad to happen as she was talking, so I wasn't too surprised when Caleb showed up. I liked Angel's entrance - nice!

Dawn was funny, "Colorforms...what?" LOLOLOL Interesting to see what lil bit and one-eyed Xander bring to the final fight. I like how they phrased it in the trailer, "Buffy's final hour or her finest hour."

I almost thought that Buffy was going to kill Faith, when she said, "There is only supposed to be one." A real Highlander moment, there. I thought it was interesting tho, how they didn't show Angel or Kennedy fighting next week. I look forward to them laying down the smackdown anyway.

I enjoyed this episode. I was glad when Caleb killed the old lady she was boring the crap out of me, she told us the history now see ya on to the fight scene. I thought that the little interaction between Buffy and Faith was good. Spike and Buffy sharing their feelings was good but as soon as I saw David's name in the opening credits I knew that she was gonna kiss him. Which I dont know why was just great, Buffy and Angel just belong together. Though you do have to feel for Spike, here he is behind Buffy when no one else was, and he just opens his heart and just when he thinks things are going well, smash along comes Angel.

I enjoyed the interaction in the hospital between Anyan and Andrew.

The worst part about this episode is that there is only one left after this.

good ep, though it still felt kinda slow.

the conversations everyone had were cool, they can get out some last feelings and stuff. i hope that there is more fighting though, and a little less talking. i wanna see the SIT's throw down, i wanna see dawn get some long awaited action, and faith not get her butt kicked for once. (i love the girl, but they often have her fighting like crap)

with only one more left, we have yet to see the resolution of Joyce's prophecy "dawn, buffy wont choose you"

one more ep, one more ep, i cant freakin believe it. truly one of my favorites of all time. i'll close with a quote from "once more with feeling":

"where do we go, from here?"

Caleb died? NOOOOOOOO, I'm the only one who'll say that

the scythe rules

first time ever i'm almost yelling at a show, was it so hard for buffy to tell spike that she loves him? and then she goes to kiss angel... i really hope spike sucks the marrow out of her bones and has fun chewing her heart... oops thinking outloud, and typing it, weird... let's forget that

i like the fact that the whole spike/trigger/basement/plans for him was not completely dropped

now i wonder "she'll tell you, someday she'll tell you", i thought this was about he "i believe in you" but could there be more meaning to this later?

Absolutely loved this ep. Very nice. I think the only thing which broke it up for me was the existence of this aboriginal temple in the middle of a freaking graveyard. It'm pretty sure that were there actually an ancient temple in the middle of a graveyard arceologists would have been running in and out for centuries.

And anyone who originally called it a scythe obviously either read a spoiler, or read the comic or whatever, because the thing is not (by appearance) a scythe. Not even close, and a thousand people saying so wouldn't change that; it would just suggest that they need to do a little reading. 😉

However, the name Scythe is a metaphor for it's purpose, which is to reap, specifically, to harvest lives. Giles gave us his little desertation on this. At least that was made clear, lol. It was really starting to bug me. It's still not actually a scythe in form, it's plainly an axe as Keneddy called it on first-sight, but as a honorific or title, scythe works quite nicely, in a metaphorical sense.

There certainly was alot of creative license taken in this episode, but with only 1 left it's understandable that they are going to pull some plot elements out of their ass so to speak.

With that taken into account, the explosion at the beginning was crap. That would have taken out everything down there, and I mean everything.

So are we to suspect that the seal has been somehow blown open and ubervamps are pouring out now?

Remember what the First said about Spike before "It's not his time yet." Well with 1 ep. left I believe his time is now and I will be totally stoked if Spike and Angel fight.
