Official Discussion of 7.21 "End of Days" (UPN-US)

And anyone who originally called it a scythe obviously either read a spoiler, or read the comic or whatever, because the thing is not (by appearance) a scythe. Not even close, and a thousand people saying so wouldn't change that; it would just suggest that they need to do a little reading. 😉
I just wanted to repeat this block of text to give certain people a second chance to read it. 😉 (I agree completely.)

Now, about the episode: First of all, yeah it was really good--there were more important speeches and bits of information exchanged. We've got some tension with Dawn and Xander, tension with Buffy, Angel, and Spike.

Oh, and why are so many people so easily convinced that Caleb's dead? All she did was cut into his midriff and he went down. Does that automatically equal dead? No, of course not. I'm sure they'll look around next episode and he won't be there. Either that or he'll stand back up all healed and start making more "you're all gonna die" speeches.

But now, the bad: It's been all season now, where are our apocolyptic fights? Most of the people of Sunnydale have left... why? I mean it's not like anything's happening. Over in L.A. fire rained from the skies and the sun got blotted out and there were still people there. Here in Sunnydale, the people were apparently affected by a "fear" spell. They all ran away even though not much was happening.

And now, supposedly, BtVS wil be able to resolve all the wandering plot threads in just 42 minutes? Well, if anyone can, Joss can. I'm not losing faith, I'm just saying it won't be easy. Make sure to tape this one folks, the characters might be talking kinda fast. 🙂

After my resounding dissapointment after last weeks gang up on Buffy, I have to say that my trust in Joss and Co. is fully restored!!!!!

I cheered, when Buffy saved the lives of those SIT's. Guess they are glad to have her around now. Those ungrateful brats would be dead without her, as well as the rest of the scooby gang. She saves thier lives again, and I thought it was funny that now they don't want Faith to lead anymore, like it was Faith's fault that the place blew up. Fickle fickle children. lol.

I loved the return of Angel, and his comments were great. I loved seeing Caleb get whacked, but I'm not totally sure that he is dead. I thought I saw him in the previews for next week, but then again that could just be the first taking his form, so what do I know?

I have to admit, that even though I am the biggest B/A fan ever, I actually did feel bad for Spike. I was finally starting to not HATE the whole Spike/Buffy thing, and then they go and pull what they pulled last night. I'm confused now about who I want her with. lol

Was anyone else confused by the old lady thing? I think I have to watch that part again, because i'm not sure what she was supposed to be.

The old lady was the last member of yet another secret organization that we somehow never heard about before now. It's unclear whether her group was around before the shadow men or not.

Th episode was amazing! I like the part when Andrew and Anya were in the hosptial and they had a wheelchair fight! That part
was so funny!

I love the B/A scenes. I hate Spike, but I felt bad for him.

4 points that must be made....

1) The cast interaction in this eppy was better than anything I've seen since season 5!!! Of course, they would do that....have to make you remember what you are missing...::crying::

2) I was like "There's a pyramid looking thingy in the middle of Sunnydale and nobody ever noticed! What the hell?" But then the lady was talking and she said that they'd stayed hidden waiting for Buffy...so I assumed she meant her and the pyramid thingy...but that raised other questions like How did both Angel and Spike no where to find her?

3) Was I the only one that saw new shots of Caleb in the trailer for next week? Or have I gone insane?

4) Wasn't David Boreanaz simply lickable?

Alright, I'm done....😀

About point 2: I shouldn't bother defending the plot weirdnesses, but I'll do it anyway: Yeah, if she said they'd stayed hidden then presumably they used some magic or some such to stay secret all this time. Spike may have known where to go because Buffy might have told him before she left (even though we didn't see that part). Angel might have known where to go because the info he got from Wolfram & Hart might have said where Buffy would be. (If so--really good intel.)

About point 3: All Angel said to Caleb was that he was going to lose--not that he was going to die. Since when does a bad guy as powerful as Caleb die from one belly slice, anyway?

That's what I'm saying!!! He couldn't be dead that easily!!!!

and another possiablity of Spike and Angel finding Buffy is they followed her scent, they've done it before why not agian? and I wouldnt be surprised if the First lead Spike in there

Okay so i saw it last night but was waaay too busy to post.

i thought this epp was alright. for some reason it seemed way longer than it actually was.. not exactly in a bad way though.

the guardian thing was so stupid, so out of nowhere plot device.. ugh. and how did caleb get in there before buffy without the guardian seeing?

also.. buffy should know big bads don't die from one slice..she should've decapitated caleb as well.

i think i like touched more, although this was pretty good. for some reason it doesn't feel like the second-last epp or the end.

I'm not superhyped for the finale for some reason... but i'm sure it'll be good.

WHEELCHAIR FIGHT!

cliff

yes yes yes. the wheelchair fight was my favourite part of the episode haha.

but yeah.. to me it seemed like none of the potentials died in the blast cuz there were still so many of them! and i guess i would've believed it more if they had burns and stuff like that. but s'okay.

the kiss surprised me. i dunno. just seem wrong to me. *shrug* probably cuz i finally accepted the idea of buffy and spike together heh.

anyway, i think i'm still in denial that there's only one episode left. and i have no idea what's gonna happen. it's finally the real countdown people!!

Okay, this post is gonna be a little chaotic because I'm just gonna write down random comments about the episode as I think of them 🙂

-AWESOME character interaction. The Faith and Buffy scene was priceless (well, actually I was disappoined when they didn't kiss at the end 😉 ). The two of them have finally worked past their issues with eachother.

-Speaking of, things are definitely starting to wrap up... a lot of closure. Which brings me to my next comment: Spike and Buffy. Last episode I thought she was finally gonna give him a chance, but now it looks like that whole thing and their dialogue this episode were just for closure - closing thier relationship on a good note (but possibly leaving it open? 😀 ), so that...

-...Angel can come in. As much as I prefer Buffy and Spike, I'll admit that this has to be done. I also did not like seeing Buffy and Angel kiss so soon after her scenes with Spike, but I do realize - and I think (hope!) Spike does too - that part of them never stopped loving each other (never will) and after not seeing each other for such a long time it sorta makes sense.

-Once again speaking of character interaction, how great were Anya and Andrew in this ep?!?! I've been dying to see them in more scenes together since the whiteboard/make-up sex deal, and I couldn't have been happier with what we got! 😀 I laughed so hard during the wheelchair fight, and their little discussion about humanity was touching. Closure for Anya, possibly?

-Xander and Dawn. Okay, I'm glad they're gonna be around for the finale, but WTF Dawn??! And where the heck did you get that taser and why did you have it with you?! A little rough, if you ask me. And I cannot believe SHE killed Miss Kitty Fantastico!!!! Just when I had started to really like Dawn more, it's back to grrr!!

-Will we ever get to hear what Buffy wrote in that letter to Spike? Or how about the end of Buffy's letter to Dawn?

-Giles and Willow haven't been doing so much lately, and it's starting to piss me off. Let's just hope they get some action next week!

-My biggest problem with this episode was the whole bomb ordeal. I thought it was an awesome cliffhanger, and it turns out to be nothing!!! I mean, did anyone even DIE?!?! At ALL?!?! It looked like it was gonna be this huge tragic thing, but... nope.

-Okay, I'm sorry, but what's with the Druid woman? It's a nice touch and all, but sorta weird that we haven't heard from her until now (and of course she dies after being introduced like 10 seconds before). When she was talking about death and then the hands reached around and snapped her neck... made me jump so much!!! It was really creepy. But oh, it's just Caleb. Nevermind.

-Speaking of Caleb, I was so relieved to finally see him die this ep... I was rooting for Buffy and yelling at my TV the whole fight, begging her to kick his ass! But is he really dead? Buffy should have chopped him up into tiny pieces!!

-The scythe totally rocks. Best weapon ever, I agree (well, the rocket launcher is a close second, lol). Probably my favorite scene was Buffy dusting the three Ubervamps with it... beautiful. It's so gratifying to see Buffy really open up that can of whoop-ass after being depressed and/or defeated this season so far. I'm still not so sure about how effective the scythe's gonna be on the First, considering it's not coporeal.... It really is cool though - I want one!!!!

-There were many great aspects to this episode, but it still felt a little slow and calm to be the second-to-last episode ever! It's an awesome ep in its own right, but I expected more from an episode called "End Of Days" that's right before the finale. Oh well, hopefully next week will really blow us away 🙂

It was awesome...

I loved Angel's comments.

I also liked how Amanda was saying that they were punished for going against Buffy.

And when Faith got to hold the Scythe...I loved how she was saying that it felt good and it felt like it belonged to her, and then how she stopped and put it down and said something about how that meant it must belong to Buffy. I think Faith and Buffy really got to connect last night on a friendlike level...

🙂

This episode was good with some little, bad things.

Bad:
1. umm.... there should've been a lot of dead little girls after that bomb. If you watch as they are leaving the tunnel... the damage reached so far back into the entrance, how did human flesh survive is steel and metal did not?

Anyway... great interaction between Buffy and Spike and then she goes and gets all smoocy with stupid head Angel 🙂

But, I will admit that his timing was perfect... he helped weaken Caleb. And can Caleb really be dead? I have a feeling he's comin back.

there were some dead girls from the bomb, and another from the turokhans....

and as for how did spike found buffy... either first or scent... and how did angel found buffy? HELLO, WOLFRAM AND HART RESOURCES!!!

It was a great ep. I did feel sorry for Spike when he saw Buffy kissing Angel, but come on!! As someone's sig here says: "Buffy Summers, was, is, and always will be Angel's soulmate." Enough said.😉 😉 Glad to see Buffy and Faith getting along better. It's cool that Faith finally shared her feelings with Buffy. Maybe those two will become semi-friends after all. Ok, seems that my friend's theory about the first posing as Buffy and channeling her strength through Caleb was off. Caleb was getting his strength from the first all along. It was also cool to see the guardian storyline go from Angel to Buffy. It just shows that some things from Angel were meant to crossover to Buffy. *sigh* I can't believe that there is only one more Buffy ep left ever. I know that next week's ep will be off the charts!!😀 😀 Oh, I loved the wheelchair fight between Anya and Andrew also.😉 😉

they must have wired that c4 wrong, that's why the explosion didn't do that much damage. after all, they have no eyes

all that c4 would've taken down a 10 story building...falkin faith is like 10 feet away and ends up living??...when high yield bombs go off...clothes get ripped off as well...everyone should've been distentegrated...i guess josh don't know explosives...

this episode sucked...the wheel chair battle was ill...but other than that every thing was forced...everything...where the falk does dawn get a stun gun??...the character interaction was forced...and Buffy beats caleb with a customized axe??...i'm expecting some bad ass cgi and it doesn't show up!!

this season finale is really really looking anti climatic...just like how this season's angel ended...

Firstly the most important point I have to get off my chest-
Does anyone who posted actually pay any attention to Angel:the series?
Hello?😕
Angel had THE worst dialogue EVER in this episode. He's turned back into schoolboy Angel from season1. And he was all cocky. This is NOT an Angel characteristic that ever comes to the fore. "Buffy I've totally gotten over Cordelia in like 1 second and I'm back with you babe." Dude it blowed. Sorry to all you die-hards who've been grinding their teeth for this to happen.😉
Of course when he first turned up I was like -yeah Caleb is gonna get a bitch slap now. Angel rocks. Although I think this closing scene adds very interesting possibilities to the finale it did neither Angel, Buffy, Spike, Angels writers or Buffy s7 so far, any justice whatsoever.::nono1::

Joss, this finale better kick so much ass. ::evil2::

Someone mentioned no CGI in this episode. Have you noticed not much CGI all season. Can anyone say SAVING THE BUDGET FOR A MONSTER FEST! The last episode must be costing a bomb:: wacko2

almost forgot WHEELCHAIR FIGHT was hilarious. But Spike got thte funniest line "I've done things with you I can't even spell."😀

I agree. I was looking forward to Angel showing up. However, when he did in this episode, it felt forced. I think Soulgasm mentioned this. Angel forgets all about Cordelia. Buffy forgets all about Spike. It was corny, especially the way Angel was talking and acting. I mean when they kissed, I was like, "where in the hell did that come from?" I even knew they were going to. The whole scene just seemed thrown together. Don't get me wrong, I do think B/A belong together (even though I like Spike better). I just think they could have scripted their reunion better.
