Official Discussion of "Conversations W/Dead People"

Buffy would turn against the gang when thing come...
i guess only Willow is powerful enough to stop her or prevent her from doing anything...
so the "From Beneath it Devour" ask her to kill herself so that there isn't a need to have anything against Willow when Buffy unleash HELL on EARTH...
 
I have a theory about the whole Spike killing again thing. The episode was all about conversations with dead people which is obvious but none of the dead people that any of the characters spoke to can be trusted. Joyce saying that thing about Buffy not choosing her i think thats a message from the big bad not from joyce herself. And obviously we all know that Willows conversation with Tara wasn't real and the big bad used a good person to appear to Willow (see Joyce) and the BUffy of course. She was speaking to a vampire who said he felt connnected with the evil so when he said that spike sired him I think he was lying to her. He wanted Buffy not to trust Spike anymore.

See I think that it was the hellmouth again. Somehow making him believe that he has to kill her. Obviously he was the dead one in that conversation and....ok I have totally lost my thought there.

Actually I'm not sure about the Spike thing but I'm pretty sure he's not evil again and that there's a reason why he did what he did. If he really did do it I recon he'll be regreting it.
Anyways that's just my thought on an outstanding episode. It may be a bit confusing but at least I know what I'm trying to say!!! lol
 
All I can say was the look that Cassie gave Willow while she was slowly rising from her chair gave me the freakin' creeps!!! I'm glad that Amber Benson didn't play the role because it would be hard to look at Tara the same way. In terms of that pentagram Andrew & Jonathan dug up, whoever built the high school knew it was there. In fact, they probably made it or were trying to hide it. That's probably something to think about. Also, if Xander said the hellmouth was indeed in the principal's office, why is all this evil drawn from the basement?
 
So many good points. I agree that the evil is really trying to make everyone doubt each other b/c otherwise they are so much stronger when they are all together.

As for Cassie "speaking" for Tara - it wouldn't have worked if Tara had appeared - no way Willow would ever believe that Tara would want her to commit suicide - that idea would have to come from an outside source - would have been to easy for Willow to figure it all out. I totally agree that somehow her magic is important - that's why the "thing" was so addament about her NEVER using it again.

They really messed with Dawn. If she doesn't trust Buffy that will go bad. I can see why it appeared to her as Joyce: that is someone she would trust and listen too - she even tried to bring her back when her mother first died. As for Buffy not choosing her...could be a ploy to make her think Buffy doesn't really care about her or could mean something big.

Spike... Whoa! Got questions there! Like what is up with that? The chip thing - yeah and was it really him? Still just totally unsure. And Johnathon as a the sacrafice - that is so sad...

OK, I just watched a repeat on FX from season five...where Spike describes his siring by Drusilla and his two slayer kills. When he was a human and when he was a vampire talking to Buffy...both the women that he loved, Cecily (Character alert...this actress returns as Anya's demon friend in Season 6 & 7) and Buffy refuse him with the quote, "you are beneath me."

Since "from beneath you it devours" and the whole looking like Spike is a baddie again, perhaps he truly is reverting to his old ways...and is the big bad. I'd hate to see it, but just another theory to consider. 🙂
 
Whoa - good theory. You know I remember that all the girls had used the "your beneath me" line on Spike but had forgotten about it until now. Good connection...

But didn't Buffy, in this episode, say something along the lines of 'I'm beneath them.' She was talking about her best friends. It probably has nothing to do with 'from beneath you, it devours', but it sounds similar to Cecily's 'you're beneath me'. Hey, maybe Buffy and Spike will be the big bads. Doubtful, but who knows?
 
So they were both from below, and if it's the Hellmouth that devours, it would support the theory of Buffy and Spike jumping into the hellmouth at this seasons end.
