Well, it's a spoiler tonight. It won't be tomorrow when the issue comes out.

Actually I haven't even finished reading about it yet. I just glanced at the preview page from the comic, and it dropped my jaw. I whipped over here to talk about it.

So why, post a whole a thread for something people will be talking about all over the discussion thread? It's big, that's why. It needs it's own thread.

zOMG! This couldn't have caught me more off guard. It's a good twist, to be sure, but dang! That's one big unexpected twist.

Which one was unexpected:
that Satsu loves Buffy or that Buffy and Satsu are in the same bed?
 
Yeah, it's not really clear from that one little picture the totality of what this signifies, but the article does say this...

But before fans start blogging frantically, they should know that Mr. Whedon is clear where this is headed. “We’re not going to make her gay, nor are we going to take the next 50 issues explaining that she’s not. She’s young and experimenting, and did I mention open-minded?”

I just read that article all agape. I would have loved for someone to have taken a photo of my expression where I saw the comic book page of the two of them. My mouth was all open and my eyes were all wide. And I realized that was how my expression stayed till I reached the last word of the article.

Needless to say this was a twist to end all twists in my little world.
 
I have this hunch Satsu's days just became numbered.

Here's another reason they really need to do a Season 8 movie.

I think so too, even buffy told satsu that people who love her tend to die or leave.
Though Buffy wanted to resolve all this with Satsu, I thought their conversation last issue still pointed (eventually) towards this development. But - YIKES! Still did not see it coming this issue for a moment.
 
Well, my face looked so surprised that my sister actually noticed. I wasn't expecting this at all, but I kinda was at the same time if you know what I mean.

I just wish I hadn't looked at the spoiler now, I would have loved to have just flipped the page over in the actual comic and then got the surprise, I think I would have been way more shocked by waiting =P

Oh well, looking forward to reading the full issue tomorrow.

Buffy has a homosexual relationship with a fellow Slayer and the NEW YORK TIMES feels they had to report it? Did they react this way when Willow became involved with Tara?

In the states it comes out on a wednesday but in the UK and Ireland they come out on Thursdays?

It's different with a main character and secondary character.

It's an interesting thing to do!

Buffy really does like her sex doesn't she, using Spike in season 6 and now Satsu in season 8, that should have some interesting ramifications!

I think it's because the comics have to ship further. They're printed in the US, and it takes an extra day to fly them over the Atlantic. My LCS gets all its comics on Thursday.

I don't know for sure, but it wouldn't surprise me. It was considered entertainment news at the time. It was all over the place. The other one that made the news was the Ally MacBeal lesbian kiss. I think this one's news, more because of Buffy's cult status, and the novelty of turning a cult icon lesbian (even though that's not exactly what happened).

I think maybe if Wonder Woman swung her allegiances - so to speak - you'd hear about it too. Maybe she did though, and I missed it. She didn't, did she?

I just read the comics and I was SO shocked. Ok, I sure didn't see that one coming. When I first saw it, I was like "Okay, it must be someone's dream. Joss has played this trick lots of times... Yeah someone's dream : Satsu's, Andrew's, Xander's... even maybe Willow's!!" But OMG it was real. I was as taken off guard as you were, Joyce Summers.

Btw, when will the discussion thread be open? =)
