On a Scale of 1-10 How Much do You Hate Parker?

I don't hate him. I too, like The Kinslayer, hate what he stands for. It's the misdirection and deception I despise. Just be upfront guys, OK? We are big girls, we can handle it. Just make sure everyone is clear and no harm done.

I think the lesson we learn from the narrative is that in turning around a situation, you can became empowered. It made Buffy wake up and realise that there are assholes in every walk of life, demon or human - that's just life. By saving his ass and being the better person, Buffy showed strength and maturity, despite the beer. I'd have left him in there personally.

Still, it taught both of them a lesson. Although he was such a dumbass I'm sure he would have forgotton it quite quickly and used his moves again.

Ok, I'll give you the RIley one, but COME ON! The branch was the least he deserved!

Plus- she was rather in touch with her cavegirl side. Probably not really able to express herself that well.... Branch hard. Boy bad. Konk boy.

Seems fair to me.

Of course it seems fair to you! You are the bloody woman! Us men have been taking crap from you since we WERE in caves. 'But huuuuny, I wanted a RAPTOOOOR not a Triceratops!'

didnt like him much even before he played buffy, when they first introduced him I thought he was going to be a love interest and didnt rate him much.
Then he played buffy and listening to his crap pursuading her into sleeping with him was very annoying and later on in the programe we hear him giving the exact same lines to some other girl. If he had been more upfront with her she may of still done it but least she would of known it was a one night thing. But the reality is there are guys like him so least she got a life lesson!

i didn't like him - i know too many blokes like him.
but it did keep buffy's growing up a little more realistic. self absorbed people do exist 🙁

don't we all know blokes like him!

Seriously now... I dont think Parker was self absorbed at all. He was just a user. I even think Buffy could have handled Parker being self absorbed, afterall, to a degree Angel was as well. Parker was just a user.

I hated the way Buffy acted over Parker. But I didn't hate him. I know there are guys out there who act like this, that's life for you. But I would have thought Buffy would have been able to see through it, but she kept pining over him even after she knew what he was like.

Actually I would have gone for a sabre tooth - at least you could have used the pelt. But typical man..... you just don't think, do you?

I mean you. You think I'm going to get all messy skinning the beast? Bad enough I would have to cook it.

Plus, no point having a dog and barking yourself. And Parker really was a dog. Are you one too?

you mean at least "I" could have used the pelt... say what you mean!
I disliked Parker for what he did to Buffy but I realised that is just kinda how most college boys would be but then didn't he start to try and make a move on Willow?::huh1:: That was when I really didn't like him!

I still dont see how Parker was a dog? The only person that seemed to have a problem with him was Buffy... so yeah, maybe I bark, snarl and drool too.. woof woof

Re:

Sure, Parkers an inconsiderate asshole. Pardon the french. But he's your typical hormone driven teenaged guy. And yeah, poor Buffy... Her feelings were hurt. But for the love of everything holy...GET OVER IT already! I mean, she can carry the weight of a thousand demons on her shoulders...But she can't get over a one night stand? C'mon. I think the whole Parker situation was just a bit drawn out and irratating. LOL...But I think that's probably pretty obvious now.

I think that's one of the things that was interesting about Buffy...she can go through the stresses of averting apocalypses but she's crushed by a guy who uses her for sex. It's what made her human, I think. And honestly, who HASN'T had an experience like that. She may have moped around longer than some, but really...I don't blame her. And the fact that Parker is a typical hormone-driven teenage guy doesn't make what he did ok...

I don't Hate Parker, I just found him to be annoying, mostly before he used Buffy. I just find guys that are trying to act like the "sweet, sensitive type" annoying. After that I was mainly irritated with Buffy. Something like that has never happened to me, so I can't relate, but I still think that she was being a bit dramatic. Especially during the Halloween epi where they where making pumpkins and Buffy was just staring pitifully and squishing the pumpkin insides while talking about how, if you decode the metaphor, Parker ripped out her insides. I just want to tell her to get over it, she was acting like she was in love with the guy. Other than that, it sort of annoyed me because, how long had she known Parker? What, eight, nine days? So anyway, guys like Parker are jerks, but Buffy is a big girl and can make her own decisions. No one told her to do anything.

Parker is an ass. A good looking guy, even when I was back in college 25 years ago, didn't have to make like he was "in love" to get into a girls pants, there are plenty of horny chicks at parties who'd be happy to give him what he wants with gusto. I don't have an issue with him wanting to have sex without relationships, just with him being deceitful about it. That's the "bad" part, pretending you care when you don't, that messes with people and it's unfair and dishonest.

I guess it's a case of "pick in someone your own size"...like it's fine when Buffy says mean things to and beats the crap out of demons, but we wouldn't be cool with it if she started treating regular people that way. Parker should have amused himself with women who, like him, were just looking for some fun.

Buffy reacted strongly because it felt so much like a repeat of what happened with Angel. It wasn't just Parker she was reacting to, but all her insecurities, unhealed pain, etc. Often when people over react, it's because some other well of hell inside them has been tapped into.Plus, as slayer, she worries she won't ever be able to have a normal relationship, let someone normal close to her, etc. And, I'll bet she had to "be gentle" with him in bed as well, him being a mere mortal and all.
Imagine holding back for someone and then finding out they were just a lying prick like Parker.

Sure, that one-night stand should have upset her. But the way she moaned over it for episode upon episode...c'mon, she wasn't this depressed and consumed by self-pity and irrationalization when Angel left.
When Riley left. When Spike tried to rape her.
She dealt with all of these happenings fairly well, yet she can't deal with a guy using her for sex?
And then, when Oz leaves Willow, she talks about how irritating Willow's sadness is? At least Willow had a bigger emotional upheaval going on.
THAT'S what made her pining over Parker so unrealistic, in my mind.

Really people thought Buffy was over reacting? Wow have any of you been used for sex I was with her I hate parker an 11 out of 10

I'm not really in those experiences yet, but from what I've seen I think Buffy clearly overreacted, I mean you need to keep the idea there are guys like that. He was also very "real" 🙂.
