On a Scale of 1-10 How Much do You Hate Parker?

I don't think I hate him. I mean not every guy is prince charming and the man you will spend your whole life with.
But though, it's not okay what he did. But with this experience Buffy realises not only the deamons but also the human guys can be bitchy..
 
I have pretty much exactly the same views on sex as he does, but since he didn't have the balls to just say "Hey, let's have sex!" and instead took the route of being a lying, manipulative asshat, he's certainly deserving of some loathing.
 
Zero. She knew full well what could happen. Like she said herself she "made a choice". She wanted to make decisions like an adult but when it went wrong, wanted to blame everyone and be coddled like a child refusing to live with the consequences of her choice.

I don't think Parker escapes all culpability, here. He deceived her. She wanted to make choices like an adult and then be coddled when it went wrong, yes, but it went wrong because Parker deliberately withheld information and misrepresented himself to her. The information on which she based her decision was faulty, and that was Parker's fault.

I didn't mind Parker, but i guess there is a chance that he was lying about his dad dying to get girls into bed, if that's true, he's a scumbag. For some reason, i can always imagine his dad at home saying "good job son".
 
haha, Man, people don't like Parker. I didn't like the character 'cause he was the King of Douche Mountain. So...props to the writing and actor who played Parker.
 
I'm with Kali, I don't like what Parker stood for. There's nothing worse than a liar! Maybe if he had explined to Buffy that it was just some casual, fun, college sex, she would have been cool with it, I mean, SHE'S AT COLLEGE, that's what it's about. No? Am I wrong?
 
^ Yeah. you never know what a little honesty will accomplish. Even so, I think a lot of the thrill for Parker came out of the lying and manipulating part. I don't think it would have been as fun for him if it had just been about no-strings-attached sex.
 
I didn't hate Parker. I mean, yes, he was a real jerk, but, in spite of what Buffy fans tend to think, he wasn't evil or anything like that. He was the typical douchey college guy. What I hated was Buffy's reaction after he used her. I mean, sure, you could argue that all of the men she had become accustomed to were fairly romantic and cared deeply about her (Angel was the ultimate melodramatic boyfriend, and Xander, though preoccupied with sex, did respect her), but she should have known that a good percentage of college guys just wanted to hit it and quit it.

So overall, I'd give myself a 3 on the hatred scale.
 
i think putting parker in Buffy was very interesting, he's a male scum, the kind you meat every day, IMHO it added reality to the show, you know, people can be scum, not just deamons... 🙂
 
Parker ought to have been the perfect type, at least for someone whose calling is love is pain and death is my gift. He claimed to be all about the moment, and for someone whose calling is love is pain and death is my gift, forget heaven on earth and look for the heavenly moment. Having been there and done that, I'll call it the respite that comes from femininity and humanity. That's how she should have treated the matter and not otherwise a surprise that the attempts at heaven on earth were doomed to failure.
 
Parker was highly forgettable. I mean he was just a broken cog in a machine that was working fine. Where the hell did he fit in? I get that Buffy needed her 'College fling' and stuff, and great it brought that element to the Season. But it just annoys me that he's there and, well when he really shouldn't be.

I don't think Parker shouldn't be there. I liked the fact that Parker was there. The demon roommate and Sunday were fun, Buffyversed, and thinly veiled metaphors for actual problems that people encounter at this phase of life, but things were getting a little too over-the-top. *Everything* about Buffy's new college life was demon-related. Heck, even her professor and her boyfriend were rogue demon fighters and even her beer was enchanted. I liked the fact that Parker wasn't evil. I liked the fact that Buffy had to deal with her normal life and not just her slayer life. Parker sort of reminded me that Buffy isn't just the slayer; she's also just a girl. That's a major theme of the show. At the start of season 4, we had started to get away from that theme. Parker brought that back. Sure, Buffy's a powerful slayer at the top of her game, but she's also a naive Freshman girl who can get her heart stomped on just like anyone else.
 
The root of my not wanting him or not thinkin him a good candidate for charachter in Season 4, stems from perhaps the length he was there for?

I'm all for having THAT element in the show. But they could have perhaps but more effort into him. You know to make him NOT forgettable. lol
 
I think Parker was interesting because really he was so real- the way he seduces her with everything and then turns cold after he gets what he wants. Alot of guys that age are just like that! They know they are goodlooking but they are dicks and think they can treat anyone the way they please. It was heartbreaking when she is expecting that call from him and it never happens- so common! But in some ways Parker is so entertaining to watch and I m not sure exactly why that is!
 
What girl/gay man hasn't had a guy like Parker?
I couldn't stand him personally. First time I watched it I believed all his lines but obviously when you find out its a lie you just cringe and think Buffy's dumb for falling for them lol.

He gets a 9 from me.
 
I don't hate Parker. Like Willow said, he was a poophead. But I found Buffy's desire to find a permanent boyfriend so soon a bit pathetic. I suspect that if she and Parker had become a pair, she would have ended up using him as rebound as she had done Riley.
