Once Upon A Time

I loved the second episode. I liked the pilot. I loved episode 2. I just think there was a simple complexity about it... everything is deeper than it seems on the surface... and I like that.

Zoe, you've explained exactly how I'm feeling about this show so far! I watched & liked Grimm, but it's surely not a show I can watch with the kids. They watched OUAT with me & liked it. Besides I'm not quite sure I'm sold on the Grimm actors & characters just yet, whereas the OUAT actors & characters grabbed me right away.

And I disagree with whoever conplained about the flashbacks, I love them!

WHAT? Where was she?? I've been looking for her 'cause I have no idea when she's going to show up, and I've yet to see her. 🙁

she was the blind witch from Hansel & Gretel at the bonfire. I wasn't sure at the time that it was her, but I think it is

VisionGirl for the win!

She didn't look like her usual lovely self, that's probably why. 😀

Ep 2 was just as great! It irritates me though, because I just want more scenes between Emma and Snow! They are taking it rather slow in regards to Emma finding out the truth, or believing Henry at least, but I think it's clever--so very Lost (though hopefully with a better ending one day 😀) I loved that this ep focused on the Evil Queen instead and showed her POV, if merely to point it that there's some conflict in her character. She killed her father, and then named Henry after him--I liked that. For that, I can't say she hates the boy, she might just love him a bit.. Mr. Gold is great, I know nothing about Rumpelstiltskin so I might have to read the fairytale.. Robert Carlyle is fantastic! And I loved seeing Pam from True Blood, hopefully we see more of Maleficent.

Both Once upon a time and Grimm was talked about here before they started airing and a lot of people were excited. I was unsure but can easily say that I'll continue to watch Once upon a time. Not as sure about Grimm just yet.

It might be cheesy and a bit corny but I don't mind it. I can feel a bit for the dark queen but the mayor? Not even close so far.

I watched it, and I think that it has real potential if it's handled right, but I can't help but think that it's a story that doesn't lend itself to a long term series.
I feel the same. A full season or two if they do it right but I really hope they don't drag it out for the sake of it. As so many shows do. Wouldn't mind if they found a way to continue it in a good way.

Did anybody else notice Emma Caulfield in the last episode? You'd have to know who she plays in order to figure it out. 😉

I certainly didn't notice it was her. Now I feel the need to watch it again just to take a very close look.

Come to think of it, wasn't Prince Charming the hero and one true love of both Snow White AND Cinderella? They could drag the guy's pursuit, apprehension, arrest, trial, and exoneration out for another couple of seasons, without even having to resort to the old "One Armed Wizard" gimmick. That gives us a good four seasons right there before they have to bring in the Rapunzel kidnapping case. Then there's the Tom Thumb affair...

And the star of the show makes her living tracking down fugitives and bond jumpers? Perfect.

With a little ingenuity, this thing could go on forever.

David Anders! I hope there's more of him, no one plays bad like this guy! And I loved the Snow/Charming backstory, the chemisty these two share is incredible.

Did everybody see Harry Groener in last night's episode?! I almost didn't recognize him, with the bad teeth and everything LOL.

Saw his name in the credits, not sure if I would have notice him otherwise. He's great. 🙂

Totally missed Emma Caulfield in a earlier episode though.

Really like this show it got a nice feeling somehow.

He was Jiminy's father.
Amy Acker has just got a role in this, not sure who she'll be playing though.

I kinda like this show. It's not the best thing on television, but it's definitely my guilty pleasure this season.
I definitely have a soft spot for Archie/Jiminy.
Mary Margaret/Snow White is also... Ok, how can anyone NOT like Ginnifer Goodwin? I mean, seriously?
I think I might like the evil queen/mayor better if she didn't wear that horrid lipstick. Also, she has the most ridiculous lines.
Oh, and Henry is totally rendered unnecessary and is rather annoying to be honest.

Her episode hasn't aired yet... it's scheduled for January 15. She plays a witch.

Yeah, the kid is a little irritating. He's necessarily in that he's the only real reason for Emma to stay in town, though.

It would be interesting if in the final episode, it's revealed that all the fairytale stuff really is just a delusion in Henry's mind. This show was created by the producers of "Lost," after all...

Aye, they could do that. Are they only planning one season, btw? Anyone know?

I'm sure they're planning on having it run as long as they can. But they can't keep up the current situation for 5 or 6 seasons, with Emma and Regina snarking at each other and nobody remembering who they are. I don't see that lasting beyond this first season.

So, they probably won't go with the "delusion" option, since that would require all the fairytale people to continue not remembering their fairytale past (since it wouldn't really be true).

I hope they have plans for what to do after this season.

Another interesting possibility: the fairytale people do exist... but Henry is mistaken that the Storybrooke citizens are those actual people. It may be that the fairytale world is some kind of "mirror universe" where everyone in this world has a corresponding person who's similar, but not exactly the same.

For example: Regina is strong-willed and impatient and can be kind of a bully, but we've seen no evidence that she's downright evil, like the Queen. Mr. Gold is creepy and greedy and manipulative, but he's not a giggling psycho like Rumpelstiltskin. Maybe what's happening in the fairytale world is completely separate from what's going on in this world, and the two worlds will be brought together somehow.

Lots of possibilities.

Just watched the last episode and am rather gutted at what happened. 🙁 I like that it's stepped up a gear though.

Do the words St. Elsewhere and Tommy Westphall come to mind? They should.

Look it up.
