still on the grammar front "yous guys." The northerners make fun of us southerners for using "y'all" but at least y'all makes sense! "Yous" is not a word!

OhWow agrees: I agree with you 1000% XD
Which brings up another... over 100%.
Now I'm going to continue with my list
Glass half full/half empty analogy. It's half full if you poured liquid into it and filled it halfway. It's half empty if you poured half of it out. If you stumbled across it and it had liquid in it filled to the halfway point, you check for evidence it was poured or drunk or something, if it wasn't, it's half full. If it was, it's half empty. And before you tell me, I know... I'm being very technical here.
"do onto others as you'd have done to you." I despise that phrase. It doesn't take into account the fact that we all have different levels of preferred politeness. Something that's polite to me may be rude to you and something that's polite to you may be rude to me. This is a problem in two main ways. 1. The logic of the statement says Person A (you) should do x to Person B, and Person B will give x back to Person A. However, if you apply this logic using the other person in the situation as person A and you as person B (because they have a perspective too) if what they give is y (which you consider rude), you have to give them y back. Or else by the logic of the statement, you're saying you don't want them to give you what you ask for. However, because you've given them y back instead of x, you haven't asked for x. So you can be nice to them and give them what they want (y) or you can be rude and ask for what you want (x). Either way, applying the logic of the statement, they're very free not to give you x in return.
And 2. If you give Person B x because it's what you consider polite, it might be what they consider rude. Since the rule doesn't leave room for different levels of preferred politeness, you might not even know you've been rude... I bring this up because whenever I give my number 1 everyone says "you're thinking about it too much. Just use whatever x is (note, that's what you, as person A was giving to person B). So if you do that and disregard their preferred level of politeness, if they consider it rude, the rule tells you not to care. That's ridiculous IMO.
I remedy this by instead saying "treat everyone with the highest level of preferred politeness given in the situation." So if you enter a room and say "hey" and the person in the room says "why hello. And how are you today?" you are to drop the casual and go with "quite well, thank you. And you?" And likewise if someone were to come in the room and say "sup" and you say "hey" they're to go "how are you" instead of asking the question "sup" again.
Another grammar rule here, it's my favorite... if you live in America, the periods and commas always go INSIDE ending quotation marks. So if I was typing a sentence and it ended with a quotation, I would put the period inside the ending quotation mark like "so." And also if I'm typing something and I have a "quote in the middle of a sentence," the comma goes inside the ending quotation mark. This is only an American grammar rule but I think it makes the sentence look much neater.
When people say my name and then "never mind."
When people say they have something to tell me then say they can't.
When I say "oh I love this song" and someone insists on talking to me the entire way through it. I cannot give my full attention to you if I'm giving it to the song which I've just stated I love. This annoys me so much more when I say "I love this song" and then someone talks to me, and I listen and then my favorite part comes and I say "Ok, this is my favorite part" and I start singing because it's my favorite part and they think that means "speak louder."
When I spell my name for someone as they're writing it and they mis-spell it.
When teachers who have seen my name spelled correctly on my papers and their role the entire semester spell my name wrong on the last day. This happened to me today and it made me so mad.
And I think I'm going to stop now because I'm having WAY too much fun with this.
