Eventhough I didn't like Season 6 and 7, I voted no. I couldn't have standed the fact that Buffy died and wouldn't come back. It is not really my dream end, you see. 🙂 😀

Season 6 was my favourite season, so a big No from me. Also, I think it would have been remarkably silly for the show to end with Buffy's death. It goes against the "Buffy is different from other slayers" point. Had she died (the whole thing about her being different from other Slayers because her family and friends would be defunct) she would just be like all the other slayers. It was important for the show, that it ended with buffy being alive.

Forgive me if that doesn't make sense, I'm a liiiittle drunk and having focusy problems..

Even though I dislike some things about 6 and 7, it's not like they were a horrible black mark on the Buffy legacy or something, lol. Buffy never sharkjumped, IMO. And too many good things would have been left unaired.

The only thing I wonder about with an early, hypothetical season 5 show ending is if the Buffy cultural mystique may have felt even more legendary and amazing, long-term (the James Dean effect). It would have gone out with people begging for more, like Angel did. It would have gone out on a true creative high note, with a classic, tragic/heroic, mythological sort of ending. Buffy died a classical hero's death. The only Buffyverse death that really bothers me philosophically, metaphysically, is Fred's.

But PJ, you've got a point about the friends/family aspect. That was truly brought full circle by end of 7"”especially if you're comparing a Slayer to real life: growing up, becoming a pissed-off, alienated teen who feels all alone in the world"”then becoming an adult, coming to terms with the real need for family, friends...feels true to the Buffy "mission statement".

I had problems with season six the first time through but once i had had chance to watch it all over again on DVD it became a lot clearer as to just what Joss was trying to do. I definately think that season six benefits from watching it as one long story, at your own pace, rather than at one episode a week.

I won't argue that there are problems with season seven and that things could have been done better in places but i still really enjoyed it overall. Also Chosen felt like a much more appropriate ending than The Gift.

Nope, for me the final two seasons are essential to the storyline and growth of the characters and i wouldn't be without them.

I loved the last two seasons of Buffy. If it would have ended with The Gift, we wouldn't have had some great episodes like OMWF, Tabula Rasa, or Chosen. We also wouldn't have had Dark Willow. So my vote is that Buffy is good the way it is.

NO! At first I thought that Buffy was at an end. I was totally shocked at season six! But I' think I would have been satisfied though. She fulfilled her destiny. Death was her gift.

I can't say I was satisfied because I had just started watching Buffy in season 4 so I was like "That's it?!" But then I saw some previews that said, Buffy Reborn and I thought it was actually Buffy reborn. Like a different time and a new cast. I was VERY happy when they gave the other preview that said Buffy Lives and I saw that the same cast was gonna come back. The Buffy reborn one threw me off.

True. But I would have been cause I was watching Buffy since season one. I can also see why you wouldn't since you had just started watching it.

I don't know about that. I watched it from season one, episode one and never missed an episode but i still wasn't ready for it to end with season five. There was definately more story to tell!

i loved season 6, willow and tara 🙂 part from death thing.....
season 7 i liked aslo, they explored more into there charatures

Season Six was cool because there were a lot more issues explored than in previous seasons...Buffy dealt with depression and using Spike, Willow and Tara broke up and got back together, then Tara died (nooo!), Willow dealt with her magic addiction, Xander left Anya at the altar, and Dawn was a kleptomaniac...it was a very dark season compared to the others, less lighthearted.

No. I dont think Buffy should have ended at season 5. Although, I've had this discussion many times, I believe that the Gift SHOULD have been the series Finale. It would have been so perfect, Buffy dying a hero. Gone, but a hero. I just think it would have been a better ending than Chosen, although I adore Chosen, dont get me wrong, The Gift may have worked better if season 5 was season 7...Y'know?

Like someone here as already pointed out....to end the show with Buffy's death would take away the meaning of She isnt an average Slayer.
No, although i have minor issue with Chosen, i still think her ending is fine.
Besides, the idea of dealing with your own mortality and resurrection is intriguing, and for the most part, i felt season 6 coped with it.

No way!BtVS shouldn't have ended with the season5.
Even thought the gift was a quite good season final i prefer chosen as a final series because at the end of chosen buffy find what she was looking for, i mean she could get rid of the burden of being the chosen one.
And I must say that season 6 and 7 were great.During these seasons the characters changed and we saw differents sides of their personnality(mostly in S6 which is propably the darker of the seven seasons) and we spent some great moments with the scoobies!
