Well, we've survived W Bush. Surely, Trump can't be worse than that.

Uh.... He can't right? I mean, there's no possible way... surely?
 
Definitely a relief that's it's over and it won't be dragging on indefinitely. Hopefully the violence will be kept to a minimum.
 
My parents thought about moving to Europe (grand parents were born there) like 10 years ago. I'm actually considering moving there or Canada. I'm just fed up with how backwards, ignorant & difficult/slow to change this country seems to be. Yeah, the country will (probably) make it through another horrible president/congress, but why subject oneself to that. Yet, therein lies the problem. Most countries have laws/rules on immigration. One can't just up and move to another country simply when one (unless you're rich & famous) wants. That doesn't even take into account the economic considerations. However, I will be exploring what it would take to emigrate (school transfer/job/apartment/etc) or if that's even possible. 🙁

You should look at some of the votes and things that got passed. The country is changing fast and for the better.

The next two years, at a minimum, will be the "I told you so," for someone, whether it be the Trump supporters, or the Clinton supporters. Trump gas just two years before the next mid term election to make significant improvements, or give a really good reason why he couldn't.
 
As a Brit I'm in shock. I mean, I was pessimistically expecting people to elect Trump but I was slightly hoping it wouldn't happen. I'm now side eyeing the US with a judgemental eye (think Sauron style). I cannot understand how anyone could vote for such a 'person' as Trump and what he represents in society. I feel truly disgusted that people think he is the right kind of person to lead America. I really feel sick to my core thinking that he will lead America. I really hope that womens, poc... LGBTQ rights will be protected and not reversed. I worry about those kinds of things. I also worry that because of his stance on women that guys will think it's okay, even their right to just do what they want to women. So many worries...🙁

Congratulations to all who voted for Trump and commiserations for all who voted for anyone else. I was shocked when Trump got nominated by his party and I'm as surprised now. But we have to hope he's got good advisers around him and he listens to other pov's. What's the worst that could happen 😀
 
I KNEW Trump had a good chance of winning. And I'm glad he did. 😀 Hopefully he can do something about all the illegals coming here, having millions of babies, and sucking the life out of the country. There's something seriously wrong when military veterans are homeless and hungry...while people who snuck across the border are getting federal aid; AND sending millions of dollars back to Mexico.
People wanted change. Hard working people who watched Obama hang out with celebrities, appear on NUMEROUS talk shows, and thumb his nose at the blue collar demographic. While regular people worked overtime so their kids could eat, Obama created idiotic laws to placate the Hollywood set.
Hillary is a lying, murderous viper. Purely out for herself, without ANY redeeming qualities. A cold, evil shrew. America should be grateful she lost.
I'm rather ecstatic that Trump won. And extraordinarily amused at all the hysteria on social media.
 
Wow, some people actually believe in Trump? As in, actually believe that he means what he says, and that he gives a crap about anyone but himself, and that he could be a good president?

I mean, I coud understand if they voted for him because they're ideologically right-wing, or because they hate Clinton more (though most of the criticisms against her were ridiculously hypocritical, but that's another issue), but... Do some people actually think that a businessman who went bankrupt several times and never held a political office in his life could be a GOOD president? Seriously?
 
I would like to remind people of the progress that was made in the election. Four states legalized recreational marijuana use (which will be a massive boon to the economy) and even more allowed it for medical testing. Several states passed tougher measures on gun 'control' including California who now requires a background check to buy ammo. And with the president we now have small businesses will be encouraged and thrive. The economy and job growth should flourish.

It was hilarious to watch our tv presenters backtrack on how bad pot is when they found out how much money those states will be raking in.
Well we didn't have to wait long for Trump to show his insincerity. One minute into his victory speech and he's praising Clinton and saying everyone owes her a debt of gratitude. You simply cannot say this after building a campaign around how crooked she is and your wish to lock her up. One minute.

I think non-Americans, especially Europeans, are not used to seeing leaders who do not have a track record of public service. It's very strange to me that a country would elect someone to such high office who has done nothing in the political field. But maybe it's the way to go and Trump will prove that the political 'elite' deserve to be pushed aside, and tv personalities can run a country. Can't wait for PM Claudia Winkleman . . . actually that doesn't sound too bad 🙂
