::eyes::who, or what do you think Principal wood is

Let's see what we know about principal wood. he took a very quick interest in Buffy.
upon there first meeting he seemed to just appear behind her.
He knows all about the school history and i think that might includes the Hellmouth.
he knows all about Buffy from her school records.
What we don't know:

Is his interest in Buffy or the Slayer? or both?
If he truly know the history of the school, do he know his office is right over the "Hellmouth"?
or is he innocent to that fact?
How did he get a hold of Buffy school records? and where did he get them from?
Considering that the school was destroy 3 years ago, I assume that so was most, if not all of the records were also.
those that weren't' would not have been kept at the school, especially for 3 years after they graduated.
What made him look up her records and why? she haven't been in high school for 3 years and she graduated, and
Dawn was just starting. so why look up records of people who you might not have never met.::devil::

I think that Principal would is one of 3 things
1. little bad
2. the Initiative
3. the watcher council:😛?::::change::::dk::

This is just my speculation...no inside knowledge whatsoever

He's not the watcher's council, they're too incompentent. But he is an ally, maybe sent to Sunnydale by Mr. Giles himself, to help keep an eye on the kids. He invited Buffy to work at the school, when most demons want her out of the way. When Xander pointed out that the Principal's office is right over the Hellmouth like the library used to be, he said he thought the Principal was probably evil. But think about it. Libray=Scooby Centeral, and home of Giles, so it doesn't necessarily follow that the room over the Hellmouth belongs to Mr. Bad.

But it's gonna be a while before to group figures this out. They'll probably figure he's like nearly every other clueless adult at the highschool, then they'll think he is the cause of the evil, and it will look like he's working against them when he's really working for them. Then, the truth will come out, and we'll see that he's on their side.

I dunno why, but that scenario interests me....Others might find it boring though.

I"m already convinced he's evil. ::evil:: Then again, it might be too obvious to assume he's evil. I guess only time will tell.

Just a bit of a theory about the whole school records thing. It is possible for all those records to still be around. Most school systems keep records on computers as well as paper files. And the main server that holds those computer records isn't necessarily located at the school itself....so that could be one way. However, maybe Joss does want to make it all mysterious about how he got a hold of her records - although Buffy didn't seem to think anything of it when he (Woods) metioned it.

I speculated in the 'official' Episode 1 discussion thread that the Principal is (or is behind) the shapeshifter thingie.

I misheard his name at first as "Robin Good". My spidey-sense went off immediately. "Robin GoodFELLOW" was another name for PUCK, the Faerie god of trickery/mischief. He was also a (drum roll please) shape-shifter.

Actually, the name 'Robin Woods' is still pretty darn close to a Puck alias. It's worth noting that Puck is powerful but not necessarily evil... he just loves to toywith/test mortals. It ties into this year's more fun-focused theme. It's also possible that Puck is now reformed and trying to help... maybe he'll even help the Scoobies catch this year's shapeshifting BigBad (Spike's Shapeshifting 'friend'). Likely though, he'll be a BB suspect first.

I don't think he's evil. Definately suspicious but not evil. His immediate interesting in our fav slayer was interesting, but I like him. I don't think just because his office is over the hellmouth proves him guilty. I'm curious as to how much he knows about the interesting night life in Sunnydale.

I dont know.He seems nice but havent we seen people who seem to be nice but arent really?
Yeah I wonder too how much he knows about the "Sunnydale's night life."

I'll personally go with that he is the shape shifter. It seems he wanted Buffy at the school, and the shapeshifter said it had her right where it wanted. It could be just another trick ploy to make us think that, that's the fun in finding out 🙂

He could have known about Buffy's records because Snyder was so paranoid about her he probably had an entry about her every day--no doubt communicated digitally to the school board and/or the mayor. It would have stood out big-time.

Question: Then why doesn't he he recognize Buffy immediately (or admit to recognizing her) when he chats her up as she's bringing Dawn in?

I'm reserving judgement.

I like the shapeshifter idea, but he will probably be eaten too...though Spike better get over his soul soon, or I'll come in there and hit him into shape!!!

Buffy didn't question it because he offer her a job in which she is not technically qualified ::nono1::. Anyone can not request your school records without a valid reason. What reason would a new principal have to look into a ex -student records????

Did you notice everytime Buffy saw pricipal wood, he was not in his office?

What about the "tailsman"? maybe, he put the tailsman there.
(at first I thought it was Spike) But why was it place in the girls restroom? why did the floor cave in, only after Dawn went into the bathroom?::dk::

I don't know, but I'm kind of thinking he is a good guy. I really don't think he's bad. But hey, I could be wrong.

floor didnt cave in
it was ripped apart by the hands clawing at the girls feet and puling them down

he requested her records because the school board said he should
hello she burnt down a gym - shes fairly common knowledge

of course he wasnt in his office
its the first day of school, in a new school , with all new students
id be more pissy and worried about him if he hads been in his office the whole time
plotting some evil thing lol
and it makes me think maybe he doesnt wantto be in his office
what with the evil vibe maybe?

who knows
either way
i dont think hes evil

But why would they tell him to look into an ex-student? It's weird. The only excuses I can think of is, he planned on asking her to work at the school before he met her, or he wanted to know about Dawn, so he looked into her sister's record. Barring those two reasons, he got his info somewhere else, and used the school board as a coverup.

What I can't figure out is is this a red herring that we're supposed to pick up on, or an oversight in the writing? I'm not trying to diss the writers, but it's possible that this line got more scrutiny than they bargined for.

the fact that his office is where the library used to be = right on top of the hellmouth, I guess he knows pretty well what is going on and wants Buffy to be on-site. Will we possibly learn of yet another organisation that is keeping an eye on the slayers?
He could as well be put in charge of Dawn at some point. I feel that we will get to see more of him.
At least we have a principal who cares about his students. Not like Snyder, who hated youngsters overall. Guess JW got told off for that in the same way as he got pressured re fast food restaurants.
