PTC says Angel is the 6th worst TV show

These shows are rated as worse because they are inappropiate for children.. true.

Yet, most of us grew up with Buffy (I was in like, what.. fourth grade when it began?)

I don't see anyone sending there boyfriend's to hell.

I would worry more about abusive parents or dangerous environments, then TV Shows.
 
I agree with all of you I havn't gotten a gun and killed anyone, I haven't fell in love with a beutiful girl and got turned into a vampire or gottne eaten. I also havn't gotten out my axes and swords and gone around killing a bunch of people. I also havn't summoned any demons, had sex with any demons, seen any demons, staked any vampires, learned any magic, or Even get a girlfriend. I don't think the networks have to worry about me.
 
I'm one of those people who believe in choices. If you don't like Eminem, don't listen to his music. If you don't like your kids watching those shows, make sure they don't. If all the shows on that list were off the air, what would the Emmys be for?

At the beginning of every episode of ANGEL, there's a rating. If it sreads "TV-14", then those parents know better than to let their kids watch it.
 
that's right slayerangel...all about choice baby...eminem wouldn't be nearly as popular if people weren't offended and tried to ban the stuff...

thats right doc...its good that these people make a list like this...i just hope people like this don't get real power and falk everything up on tv...that would suck...
 
Seriously...one day when i was briefly working in Toys R Us, I saw a kid buying an Austin Powers doll, and the parent got all crazy because it said something lude... for that parent, I had two questions...
1) Why would your child want an Austin Powers doll? Obvious Answer:Because he loves the movies.
2) So if he watches the movie, why is what this doll saying too much for him? Obviously the movie had much worse in it, right?
The mommy got all pissed and stormed off...but am i wrong here? Isn't it up to the parents to KNOW what's in a TV show before they let their kids watch them...U know?

No, don't be sorry, it's a very good point but theres also a flaw. It shouldn't be totally up to the parents. 95% of the responsibility is to the parents because some kids arn't mature sure. But kids alos need to have common sense and learn from thy're mistakes. Plus some familys are kind.....'disfunctional' sorry if thats the wrong term. anyway the parents or parent can't always look after the kid. I mean my mom wouldn't let me watch Buffy and Angel when I was younger but I snuck and did it anyway....I got caught but I still did it.
 
It's true and I understand your point...it's not a hundred percent the parents issue, but why complain about it when it obviously is like the lady in my above post...ya know?
 
When I was 5, I watched the Exorcist. For a five year old, that's not exactly the best movie to watch. My parents pretty much let me watch anything ('cept for movies or shows with sex scenes with too much stuff exposed). I turned out fine. I choose the movies I want to watch and steer clear of things that will ruin my mind. My parents' way of raising me is different than others, but I think I learned more from watching PG-13 stuff than I would PG cuz it's more realistic. Still, parents should pay attention to what their child is watching and explain to them about the bad things.

This Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off stars David Boreanaz as a centuries-old vampire searching for redemption while fighting evil in Los Angeles.

Despite its young target audience, Angel routinely features gory violence and graphic sexual encounters. Scenes frequently involve intense fighting, blood, decapitations, and more. The series also sends a dangerous and irresponsible message to teenage fans by equating violence with sexual excitement. In many scenes, characters become aroused by fighting. For example, in one episode, Lilah bites Wesley's ear and shoves him to the floor. After a bit of rough foreplay, she and Wesley are lying on the floor together. Wesley's head moves out of the frame toward her legs. She smiles with pleasure and breathes heavily, suggesting that he is performing oral sex on her.

This is the actual text from that site and I'd like to look it into a bit more:
1) routinely features gory violence: the characters are specifically fighting evil and it won't be done with a hug and cuddle

2) graphic sexual encounters: what? Two people moving under a bed sheet can't be very graphic. Who on that PTC board has that kind of filthy mind?????

3) dangerous and irresponsible message to teenage fans by equating violence with sexual excitement: this has been mentioned in BtVS by Faith, but otherwise this message seems to be made up in the minds of the PTC board again.

4) Lilah bites Wesley's ear/ Wesley's head moves out of the frame toward her legs/ suggesting that he is performing oral sex on her: Just how uptight are these people?? A bit of ear nibbling - are they really trying to tell me that they have never done this outside their darkened bedrooms before?! Yeah, right!
And the crucial word here is "suggesting" > whatever "sex-scenes" were shown on Angel or Buffy where always merely suggesting and never graphic! If the PTC immediately think "oral sex" when somebody's head moves out of sight, then it's definitely them who have the filth in their heads and most likely put these ideas into their kid's minds - not the TV shows.

PTC - get your act together! You are way out of line here! If you provided responsible sex education to your children you would not have to slag off and blame TV shows for misguided teenagers who go around and cause havoc. Looks like you are the ones who are doing more damage to society than any TV show ever has!
