For those of you who haven't heard there is a huge effort underway to keep Angel on the air. To that end we've decided to gain some free publicity by overthrowing MTV's Total Request Live for the week of March 1st -5th!
The plan is to get a series of songs voted to the #1 spot on the chart and post messages supporting our cause.
The following newsgroup has been created for people to join to help us in this effort.

Angel_on_TRL located at Yahoos newsgroups section.

If you go there and sign up with your e-mail address you can help raise awareness for our effort from March 1st through the 5th when we attempt to take the #1 spot on MTVs TRL with the following songs:

Monday- March 1- Train- Calling All Angels
Tuesday- March 2- Aerosmith- Angel
Wensday- March 3- Shaggy- Angel
Thursday- March 4- Dido- White Flag (We get David on TV!)
Friday- March 5- Mandy- Barry Manilow

This message board will only be used to remind you when to vote and for what song. After the 5th of March the message board will be destroyed.

PS Spread the word to everyone you can think of! We need as many votes as we can muster
 
Don't the people at MTV select which messages to scroll on the screen? What if they choose not to use the messages of the Angel fans?
 
I'm liking it. Even if it's just a little brick in our yellow brick road at least it shows some originality.!
 
You can vote on TRL over the net. You just go to the website, and there'll be a link that takes you to the voting page. I hope it works out well!
 
Great idea! I'll definitely participate.

Was anybody planning on going outside TRL, with "Save Angel" posters, t-shirts, etc.? If so, I could definitely try and be there for one of those days.

Of course, I can't seem to find that Yahoo board you mention....but at any rate I'll be at the MTV website on those designated days, and do what I gotta do.
 
I think that TRl only has certain songs that you can pick from to vote for. Dido definetly could be one of them because it is really recent. I'd say that's our best bet!
 
I think they have a box that you can vote for whoever. I *think*. I remember a few years back, the top song one day was some New Kids on the Block song. Completely out of the blue...
 
Oh okay, cool then. Another idea that I was thinking about what calling your local radio stations and asking them to play some song that has the word "Angel" in it or maybe Dido's one with DB in the video. And ask the DJ to say that is goes out to Angel fans in hopes of a pick up. I'm going to try it right now.
 
That's a good idea too,..do you have any good idea for people who live in Argentina and want to help out?,...I've sent postcards and letters,Ive signed all the petitions I know and I've donated money,...I wanna do more,I need Angel!
 
Ok ladies and gents....here it is.

I was finally able to join Insomniac's Yahoo board a few days ago, and this morning got the go-ahead e-mail to start the votes at TRL.....and he states that the voting should begin NOW.

Here's what the e-mail says:


Ok Gang,
Here we go!
The voting booth will be open all week-end for Mondays show so we get
2 extra days to vote for the song of the day.
Mondays song is

Train - Calling All Angels
Only for Monday. Everyday has a new song all week.

The link to vote at is http://www.mtv.com/onair/trl/vote/

You can vote as often as you like but in order for us to win we'll
need to vote more then once each. I'm asking that at a minimum we
each vote 10 times. It only takes a few seconds each time to vote.
I'd recommend opening the link in a new window so you can vote while
waiting for pages to load when you're surfing.

Also, be sure and mention our efforts in the notes box when voting.
Messages like, "Help us keep the WB's Angel on the air! Visit
saveangel.org or renewangel.com." will help us drum up some publicity
for the various efforts to save the show.

You do not have to give your e-mail or sign up for an MTV account in
order to vote.

Also, if you are on any of the message boards today make sure to
either start a thread telling people the song of the day and add the
link to go vote at.

If you see a thread has already been started on a board, respond to
it and tell us how many times you voted. This will keep the post
bumped to the top of the boards and help motivate people to go vote
as well.

I will also be releasing a press release to both MTV and The WB once
I send this message out to give them a heads up as to what's
happening and why.

One last thing, on Monday from 2:55 to 3:30 EST the TRL phone lines
open at 1-800-dial mtv or 1-800-342-5688. We all need to make an
effort to call the station at this time as phone-in calls carry more
power then just e-mailed votes.

Good luck all. I'll post our results after the show on Monday. And
remember when you think you've voted enough times, Joss, David and
the rest of them have given us over 100 hours of entertainment. It's
now up to us if they continue to do so or not!
