I've been watching the updates all morning and I'm finding it absolutely heartbreaking.

For those of you who haven't heard about it:

I just wanted to start a thread to send my love and best wishes to everyone affected by this, and I hope that all you Queensland folk on here keep safe and evacuate as soon as possible.

Bloody horrible...

Still watching it on tv now. Its insane. I heard one of the tv stations say the flooding was the size of France and Germany combined. That is crazy! Thinking of everyone affected.

That is so awful. My thoughts are with all the families who have lost someone or have people missing or anyone affected in any way. Such devastation, it's terribly sad.

Haven't followed it closely but still know that it's incredibly bad. Hope that people act as smart as they can and that as many as possible will be ok.

My neighbour, a girl I grew up with, has been living in Brisbane for over a year. She just posted that they are being evacuated. 🙁

Prayers and good wishes going out to everyone affected.

This is truly horrifying. I can't even imagine what people there must be going though right now. Wish I had known about it sooner! Maybe I should visit news sites more often...

Water levels havent even peaked yet, so the worst is yet to come.

I heard that to. All of the ticket centres in Brisbane have been evacuated, along with our biggest wholesaler so it's definitely going to be a tough couple of weeks for travel agents and anyone looking at booking holidays.

I just hope that no matter what happens that no more lives are lost. I suppose by the end of tomorrow when the worst of it hits we will know for sure. Then it will be a very long few days of people waiting to go see how ruined their homes are.

Its all so horrible 🙁

Cait and Gem - Have either of you spoken to Kass or Jess? Are they ok?

We spoke with Kass last night. She's kind of in the middle of all the floods, so she's going to be a bit cut off from the rest of the world, but so far it seems she'll be all good! Thank God for that hey?!

Oh good! I'm so glad she is okay :)
It's horrible. 🙁

It's another reason I hate summer. Here, if it's not bushfires, it's floods. 🙁

Hope any BB Queenslanders are okay. My prayers are with you, as well as everyone else affected. Especially those who are still missing.

As far as I know my family is all good too. Mind you they have been flooded for a while in Rockhampton. Apparently there are reports of bullsharks in the flood waters in Brisbane. If it wasnt bad enough already now theres sharks!

I keep saying its a shame mother nature couldnt share some of the water down our way, keep these fires away.

Screw you, bitca!.....I'll be there tonight (sw)
Yeha it really is horrible, we've got some family in QLD who thankfully arent affected, but some of the places near them are pretty bad.

I just hope there are no more deaths.

I live in Brisbane but my home is out of flood range - my parents were flooded in 1974 and always advised us to buy/rent with the possibility of flood in mind - I nearly bought a house two months ago that is now completely under water. Thank goodness for my father's sage words of advise ringing in my ears. We have had a bit of a drive around neighbouring suburbs and streets and the amount of water is amazing but there are a lot of people with a lot of loss - my thoughts are with them all. It's just amazing to see your city in this condition.

I'm sorry to hear that you're in Brisbane, but I'm so thankful that you listened to your dads advice! I guess it's all happened now and we just have to focus as a country on building QLD back to the beautiful place that it is.

My workplace is meeting whatever donation the staff put in (plus their own donation) so hopefully we can raise quite a bit of money that way. I just hope all Australia dig deep to help out.

Some people can't comprehend the size of Australia, especially when if such a flood had actually hit in Germany or France their entire nation would have been covered in water.
It's a bit daunting.
Yesterday I donated toys (which had belonged to my cousins)
