There have been many amazing vampires over the course of BtVS and AtS - they have been frightening, funny, enemies and allies.

Now, rank your favourite Top 5 Vamps of the Buffyverse

For me:

1. Darla

I just love this character!! After a premature ending on BtVS after hints of an interesting character were established, Joss brought her back in AtS - and what a story arc!! She is brilliant as that seductive, powerful vamp in the flashbacks, fragile when brought back as a human in Season 2 of AtS (Julie's acting in The Trial is superb) and then the return of her vamp self, wreaking havoc with Drusilla is a delight to watch. I loved seeing her character's history in AtS, especially the episode Darla when we see The Master sire her. And then comes her dramatic performance in Season 4 - carrying a child with whom she shares a soul and her realisation that she would lose her soul after giving birth and be unable to love it which pushes her to a final act - staking herself. This line always gets me:

"This child, Angel... It's the one good thing we've ever done together. The only good thing. You make sure to tell him that."

2. Angelus

I love Angelus in Season 2 of BtVS. He is so dark, a villain with an emotional connection to Buffy like we have never seen before and arguably never see again. The way he pays so much attention to detal into tormenting her is just so thrilling to watch. Plus as Angelus he is responsible for one of my favourite scenes in the whole of the Buffyverse - his chasing of Jenny to her death in Passion. The way he just breaks her neck at the conclusion of the chase, and then says, "I never get tired of doing that" sits uncomfortably with our emotional reaction to the death of Jenny.

3. Spike

I love the development of this character - from a serious big bad to a vampire with a soul saving the world. I really think he has the best lines out of all the vamps in my Top 5. My favourite episode with him in is Fool For Love - I just love the rich history surrounding Spike, his nature as William and the stories surrounding his killing of two slayers. I love his comedy especially in Season 4 - he just steals every scene he is in. I do like his dark side though, and I love him in School Hard - this is when I thought - wow this guy is gonna cause some trouble!!

4. Drusilla

She is pure comedy gold! I love how mental she is, her visions in Season 2 and her interactions with Angelus and Spike. I particularly like her scenes with Darla in The Reunion in AtS. I think her entrance at the closing of The Trial is the most excited I have ever been watching an episode first time around - I had no clue about her return and was just gobsmacked!!!

5. Kralik (from S3's Helpless)

This may be an unusual choice to be in a list of Top 5 Vampires ever in the history of the Buffyverse, but there is something about this character that I just find so fascinating! He is just so utterly frightening - his humming, his speech, his look - it all just creates a really terryifying vampire. I think Buffy's helplessness when facing him adds to this feeling also. His mother complex is funny but at the same time really disturbing - the way he leaves pictures of Joyce for Buffy to find - I have nightmares about this guy alot haaa

** Honourary mention must go to Mr Trick - such a slick, cool vamp!! **

So theres my top 5! How do you rank yours?

trick is hilarious. i love his line that sunnydale makes d.c. look like mayberry haha.
Good question!

1. Angel, probably the most tragic character and the one I identified with the most

2. Spike, just a badass

3. Drusilla, I loved her! So funny and scary

4. Darla, she tested Angel emotionally and it was fun to see that

5. The Master, just a good old fashioned scary bad guy

1. Angel
2. Drusilla
3. Spike
4. Mr. Trick
5. The vampire Angel sired, I forget his name. He shows up in season 1 of AtS, played by Jeremy Renner.

1 - Angelus - Has to be at #1 in my opinion. Completely sums up everything that you want in one of the most "sophiscated" 'big bads'. Every move he did was set out to bring pain to others, but it was mentaly as well as physical. Best example is Passion. Killing Jenny the way he did and laying her in Giles's bed, and the ending was a sort of pure evil, waiting to see Buffy & Willow react to the news, and then having a satisfied smile. Again in AtS when he returns, he can torment people and tear them apart even with words.

2 - Spike - I think opinion is divided on what his story should have been. Should he have stayed bad as in season 2? Or should he have gone down the path he eventualy did, turning into the good guy. Even still, he's a brilliant character with his witty and sarcastic remarks, and he's as good being bad, as he is being good. Always adds to the storey.

3 - Drusilla - As mentioned, comedy of a character lol. But she had her evil side to her as well, and went about it in a different way to the rest. As she did killing Kendra, toyed with her before killing her, as she did with everything else lol.

4 - The Master - I couldn't choose between him and Dracula. I think Dracula was as classic as they come, and he as well had a bit of comedy about him. But i think The Master was quite a challenge for Buffy and for the gang, so i'll go with him.

5 - Vamp Willow - I wonder if anybody else thought of her? lol

Yep, I thought of Vamp Willow. :-)

I did, but I just loved my top 5 too much - she would be in my top ten though haaa
1. Angel: Despite his later sins, he's too much to not be #1.

2. Drusilla: My favorite "big" recurring vampire in the sense that she got a ton of screentime and importance while never pissing me off. Ironically, she got more of my sympathy than her counterparts in Fanged Four who went all good and redemptiony through love of Buffy or their child.

3, The Master: The only Big Bad who directly murdered Buffy...TWICE! Set the bar for all Big Bads plus he's pretty funny.

4. Spike: Despite many frequent later disappointments and schmoopiness, his intriguing rebel-bad assery in S2 and comedy in S4 earns him the #4 slot.

5. Vamp Willow: Hilarious, sexy, a perfect twisted and dark mirror of my favorite character. What more can you ask? Although I'm sure that if Vamp Xander was given a showcase like Doppelgangland, he's be up there. I always feel badly that Vamp Xander is overlooked because he was awesome in The Wish.

1. Spike
2. Drusilla
3. Dracula
4. Cyrus- Real Me
5. Holden Webster-Conversations with Dead People

Yes on #5!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Holden!!!!
1. Darla. Just pure awesome, loved like all her scenes!

2. Angel. My favourite male character all round, by the way this is in Angel, and I just forget what happened in Buffy with his character 😀

3. Harmony!! Am I the only one with love for her??

4. The Master. Simply he was the big bad, and he did it well!

5. Ummm, Vamp Willow.. for the lulz 😀

i like harmony!
1. Vamp Willow
2. Spike
3. Angel
4. Dru
5. The Master

PS: I also love Holden. Also, I love the Master, but Joss and Co. were newbies in Season 1. Imagine how amazing The Master would have been if he were the Big Bad in a later Season? It's not like the "blew it" (as in Adam). Every time The Master is in a scene it is brilliant.

Haha, your list is nearly the same as mine! And I totally agree about The Master. That's why he isn't in my list! :D
Have to say i'll include Angel as well as he's one of my favs, got more caught up in Angelus and just went by my mind!

!- Angel: fascinating, complex, dark, tormented, intelligent, deep...what else can I add? In all my life I only related with a fictional character and it is Angel.
2- Angelus: the most twisted and sophisticated Big Bad of the entire Buffyverse. What the Annointed One and Steven 123 said above fit perfectly with my thoughts and feelings. Passion is a truly amazing episode, albeit in a cruel sort of way.
3- Darla: well, I've never thought to say that... at first she didn't impress me,then I couldn't stand her, but slowly I 've started to understand her and enjoy her development and personal background in AtS. She was really the creator of Angelus, who made him so awsome. Spike blamed Angel for what he became, Angel never blamed Darla but she was really who made him. Do you remember the scene in which Angelus raised? When the old man met the two vampires and asked them: "What are you doing?" Before attacking him, Angelus looked at Darla looking for support and confirmation? Like a baby taking his first steps and look for his mother's approval and confirmation? Amazing.

3. Dracula

Ahhhh, how could I forget Dracula??? I love him in Buffy Vs Dracula! He is one of my all time favourite standalone Monsters of the Week!!! He should really be in my Top 5, oh no this is so difficult - he might just have to replace Kralik - but I like them both in different ways.... I might just have to expand Top 5 into Top 10!!!

🙂

Buffy vs. Dracula "sounds" so silly... yet it really was a great episode!!
Add to my previous post:
4- Vamp Willow: sexy, cruel, sadistic, a perfect twisted Willow. She always makes me cringe.
5- Drusilla: tragic and wonderful, lunatic and perve... her interactions with Angelus and Spike in BtVS was simply perfect. And with Darla in AtS? Great, great.

Also, I love the Master, but Joss and Co. were newbies in Season 1. Imagine how amazing The Master would have been if he were the Big Bad in a later Season? It's not like the "blew it" (as in Adam). Every time The Master is in a scene it is brilliant.

Agree with what you say about the Master- he has the most amazing lines. These are some of my favourites:

"¢ "I am weary, and their deaths will bring me little joy...... Of course, sometimes a little is enough."
"¢ "Very few vampires are cunning enough to live as long as I."
"¢ "Kids. They only visit when they need something."
"¢ "I've lost my appetite for this one. She keeps looking at me. I'm trying to eat and she looks at me."
"¢ "You've got something in your eye."
"¢ "If I can face my fear, it cannot master me."
"¢ "So! This is the Slayer! You're prettier than the last one."
"¢ "And by the way, I like your dress"

I love The Master but my Top 5 is pretty stable... another reason why I think I might do a Top 10 haaa

I bet you didn't even think about #1. I know I didn't. I'm proud to be a Willownista. <3
1. Spike
2. Angel - I love Spike and Angel...but Angel's recent actions and very recent stupidity makes it so he cannot get the top spot.
3. Dracula - I loved what they did with him in S8. He's pretty BA!
4. Holden (Conversations with Dead People) - He was great. I also love this actor so much after seeing him in several Whedon shows. I just wish Joss would make him a main character for once!!
5. Harmony - She can be annoying, but she is just undeniably hilarious.

*Honorary mentions to...Vamp Willow and Darla!*
