Snow white and the Huntsman - 6/10

Charlize Theron was brilliant as Ravenna, the special effects were really cool and I like that they kept the core story but added some of their own twists. All in all worth seeing. (Though a bit too much Madonna/whore portrayal of the women)

I don't think I'll ever be a fan of Kristen Stewart however, I don't know what it is about her, but I just don't buy it when she acts. It's all just the same 'little girl lost' and it bugs me.

I was a little bit mystified at the scene where the Huntsman kisses her (at first I was like, ew who mack's on a corpse? But I suppose the spell technically only had her sleeping) and then the last scene when they regard each other through the crowd.. was there supposed to be some kind of love story squeezed in there? Because honestly, it felt really inappropriate as he spent half of the moving harping about his dead wife, and considering the fact that they had zero chemistry. Also added in, that though it wasn't William, she did kiss what she thought was William. Mainly they just had no chemistry at all and I wish it had been William's kiss in the woods that awakened her

Yeah, I really didn't feel their chemistry either and they just didn't try to develope it enough.
X-Men - 7/10
It has been years since I last watched it. It's still pretty cool and Logan is awesome. I just love his claws.

Citizen Kane - 7/10
Well, it was quite good. I respect that fact that it was one of the most influential movies ever made and I'm not complaining about the "slow" - as some people, who didn't like it, called it - storytelling. No, I really don't have a problem with that, since I like many old and "slow" movies. I don't know what it is. The influence of a movie on all following movies doesn't really affect whether I like it or not, so it's only (it's still a pretty high rating) 7.
 
Superman: The Movie - 9/10 So the special effects weren't the greatest, obviously, because it was made in '78 😀, and Lois Lane screamed too much for my liking 😀, but Christopher Reeve's Clark Kent was so adorably endearing. I just wanted to hug him 🙂. Now I'm off to watch 2, 3 and 4.
 
Young Adult The writer and director of Juno team up once again...and give us a film that is nowhere near as good as their first collaboration. 5/10
 
New Year's Eve - 5/10. It was alright.

Melancholia 4/10. It's about as depressing as it sounds.

I make a point of not watching Lars von Trier films...they are always depressing and/or mental :)
The White Countess - 7.5/10

Wonderful performances by several of the Redgrave's - especially the late, absolutely great Natasha Richardson 🙂(). Stunning cinematography that truly captured the loneliness and hopelessness throughout the film with amazing brilliance. Costumes were lovely. All and all, it was an incredibly touching and moving piece. That said, it was a bit slow moving, and it certainly was not something that everyone would enjoy. It's not a film that you immediately become immersed in, but if/once it gets you, it absolutely grips you until the end.
 
Snow White & the Huntsman - 8/10

As for style, effects etc I'd say it was beautiful! Not over the top or anything but just really creative and artistic. Performances from the actors were great (even though I don't like Kristen Stewart). Story wasn't deep or complex in any way so can be enjoyed by almost all ages. Also the similarities between the Disney classic blend nicely with the fresh ideas that this film brings to the story of Snow White. Overall I'd certainly recommend it to anyone. Definitely worth the watch!
 
The Incredible Hulk 7.5/10

Not too bad, a bit slow in places and with Ed Norton and Tim Roth I thought the acting would have been a little stronge than it was.

Looking forward to the Mark Ruffalo Hulk movies which are going to be made as a result of the success of The Avengers.

True,
there should have been a bit more chemistry at the end between them but I definitely thought (and knew!) that it would be the Huntsman that would waken her, not William. 1: It's called Snow White and the Huntsman so it's pretty much a given that they are going to fall in love.
2: She hadn't seen William in like, forever! It's not like she would suddenly fall in love with him after all those years. It's obviously what William wanted though but it wouldn't have made any sense for him to be the one to waken her as Snow White obviously had generated feelings for her new protector. Plus in the story of Snow White she dies and it's only true loves kiss that wakens her so kissing a "corpse" doesn't actually seem that gross. Also she clearly only kissed William because 1: he clearly wanted it! and 2: she probably felt inclined too after all those years. She pulled away pretty quick as well I noticed.
That's my take on that whole matter 😛

I see all your points but I still don't buy it. It was sloppy writing and a failure for them to just rely on the title of the movie and think that would be sufficient reason
Collateral - 8/10

Awesome! Most exciting cab ride ever! 😀 Tom Cruise's and Jamie Foxx' performances were absolutely great and I also really liked Mark Ruffalo. The dialogs are very, very interesting and even though they're not actually important for the story they're still an important part of the movie itself.

Abraham Lincoln,Vampire Hunter. I'll give it a 6/10. Not as good as I had hoped, although I hear that the book is better. There was some good action in it, especially with the axe. But I wish we had seen Prometheus instead.

Alan Tudyk as Stephen Douglass turning out to be a vampire would've been very cool. I kept waiting for it. Oh well.
 
We took our granddaughter to see "The Adventures Of Tintin" yesterday, but I can't really rate it, because I slept through most of it.

But then, again, that IS a rating of sorts, isn't it?
 
The Avengers - 5/10

Decent superhero movie. Most of the actors are good (main exception is the guy playing Thor). There are better superhero movies out there though, for example Nolan's Batman triology.

I'd wait with that statement until the third movie is released 😉 Anyway, I liked Batman Begins and The Dark Knight better than The Avengers because of the simple fact that Batman is my favorite comic hero. Well, who am I kidding... The trilogy is going to be awesome! 😀
 
The Adventures of Tintin - 7/10
Well made and being a fan of Tintin since I was a kid, it was amazing to see it adapted with such quality. Hope there's more coming!

Safe House - 3/10
Didn't even bother watching all of it. Washington is one of my favorite actors but he's in waaay too many bad movies right now... Reynolds is awful, as always.

Jeff, who lives at home - 7/10
Would have gotten an 8-9 if the ending was different. This movie has a great message, but the ending ruins it for me. They should have gone deeper and developed the first bit of the movie instead. I also LOVE the soundtrack, gotta get my hands on it if they've released it.

Don't worry, they're making a Tintin trilogy ;) Peter Jackson is directing the second one and Spielberg probably again the third one :)
I just saw Brave yesterday, and enjoyed it! I'd give it 8/10 I think, because even if the plot was predictable it was charming nonetheless and so beautiful to watch.

This movie is so funny! I mean, seriously, how can anyone say that this movie is not entertaining?! 😀
