Daydream Nation: 8/10

The title sparked my interest, considering "Daydream Nation" is the name of one of my favorite albums ever by Sonic Youth. Then 10 minutes in, I heard a Beach House song, so I was sold off the bat because of its amazing soundtrack. So, I ended up really liking this film. It was all so bizarre at first, because the movie juggles so many different genres and tones. It's like "Juno" meets "Donnie Darko", sprinkled with a dash of "Twin Peaks". The ending was actual pretty suspenseful, and I was left wondering what the hell was going to happen. Kat Dennings, as usual, gives a great performance. All in all, I can see this movie becoming a cult classic in the future. Things aren't all the way resolved, things were left open ended, and I didn't even mind. It's definitely a movie I would watch again.

Definitely, maybe 8/10

Good girly movie. My mom and I kept guessing who would be the girl he'd end with. Of course, we knew it about 35min into the movie
not hard, just seeing how he was looking at April everytime she was there
. Nice twist at the end though, with the divorce. And Abigail Breslin's character was just adorable 🙂
 
Star Trek - 7/10
Star Trek Into Darkness - 7.5/10
(Double feature at my local theater)
I liked both movies. I didn't understand everything that was happening in the second movie, partly because I was really tired, I guess, but I thought it was more interesting than the first one and had a cooler villain. I also thought that the action scenes in the second movie were way, way better. Better cinematography and editing. I hated the shaky cam in the first movie and the heavy cutting. If the second one had been like this (it was in 3D), I would have thrown up. I'm serious. 3D always gives me a hell of a headache.

Sexy Beast - 7/10
Ben Kingsley is hilarious in this movie. Really recommendable, if you like movies like Snatch or RocknRolla.
 
Jack Reacher = 8/10

A Tom Cruise vehicle that starts well but has one of those infuriatingly unrealistic fight scenes where Tom and the bad guy toss their guns and go at it mano a mano. Will Hollywood ever cut that kind of crap?

The story is, a man is in custody for a sniper attack that kills five people, but it turns out that this was a murder of a woman so someone could take over her company. The other kills were done to make it look like a mass murder.

Great movie, in my opinion. I'm not a fan of war movies and I think the first 30 minutes of the movie is one of the most brutal, violent and horrific sequences ever put on film. It's actually a lot less violent than many horror movies, but the fact that it's so realistic and you know things like that happen in real life makes this a quite shocking experience. John Williams' score is subtle but effective and the actors give amazing performances. But I ask myself, how the hell is this rated 16 where I live?

Kiss me -8/10

I'm actually very surprised, I was expecting to hate it. I'm really not a fan of the whole married girl leaving the husband for a girl plot but in this movie, it was done just right! Plus I love those Swedish movie!

The Matrix trilogy -9/10

It's a classic, some people don't like the second and third instalment but I like them. I can enjoy them a lot more now that I'm older, the idea of the movie is brilliant.
 
The Great Gatsby 10/10 I seriously think Leo did an awesome job in capturing Gatsby to a tee! And my goodness the music! I felt like every song fit the scene perfectly! I saw it in 2D not a fan of 3D but I honestly don't think the extra $3 bucks for the glasses were needed at all.

The Big Lebowski - 9/10
Gets funnier every time I watch it. This is the funniest movie I know. I'm serious.

The Insider - 7.5/10
The premise of this movie doesn't sound like much, but the movie is surprisingly engaging, has great dialog and amazing performances! Starring Al Pacino and Russell Crowe, co-written and directed by Michael Mann (Heat).

Gone Baby Gone - 8/10
Ben Affleck's feature film debut as a director. I'd say he nailed it.

Mosquita y Mari- 9/10 Beautiful movie, only downfall is that I wanted more, I wish it would have been a bit longer

Old Rock- 5/10 Very average flick, but entertaining to watch. One part actually really shocked me (as in I didn't see it coming) which is a rare occurrence in movies. The storyline was kind of weak (very cliché) but the actress were really good and carried the show.
 
"Star Trek: Into Darkness." While this isn't the real Kirk, Spock, and others, I can accept the fact that is is an alternate reality of the show that I will always love. That's enough for me. It was a fun sci fi movie.

Texas Chainsaw 3D...not very good at all but I enjoyed some things about it & I was genuinely creeped out because all the doors & hallways down into the basement made me feel very claustrophobic. Not a great horror movie but not the worst I've seen though. I'd rate it 5/10.
 
Step Up Revolution 8.5/10

Of course it's still the same idea of a backstory. Girl has money, girl loves to dance (contemporary), guy lives in a "dump", guy loves to dance, girl defies authority to be with guy, they end up together against all odds.

What I did like more of this 4th installment is that Mia Michael was in it (!), the flash mobs were absolutely incredible and the dance has improved a lot since the last ones. I'll probably use the soundtrack for my training later today 🙂
 
Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene 8/10 After watching this movie I seariously got into researching cults. Elizabeth Olsen is an awesome actress she had to go through so many different emotions and she nailed all of them! This film portrays life after getting out of a cult.
 
Funny Girl 8/10

Surprisingly good! Barbara Streisand was hilarious at some point and I loved the story. Plus, I already knew some songs by heart (from Glee) and belted out "Don't Rain On My Parade" at the top of my lungs when she sang it XD
 
I've been doing some late night double feature horror movie watching lately.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976): This is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. Some parts of the movie are hokey (think Dukes Of Hazzard humor), but the scenes with the Phantom Killer stalking and basically torturing his victims are incredibly effective and chilling. Plus, it is based on a true story which does heighten the creepy factor. (4.5/5)

The Evictors (1979): This was included as a bonus movie on The Town That Dreaded Sundown Blu-Ray. I had never seen this movie before, and it was pretty damn good. A very creepy, and effective little film. I love discovering little-known horror gems like The Evictors and The Town That Dreaded Sundown. (4.5/5)

Halloween (1978): Okay, this movie is a horror classic. Everything about this movie is perfect. One of my favorite films of all-time. (5/5)

Halloween II (1981): I absolutely love this follow-up to Halloween. I love that it takes place literally moments after the first film ends. Is it as good as Halloween? Not quite, but it does come awfully close. I also personally love the pumped-up 80s style synthesizer-heavy score. (5/5)
