The Lorax 6/10 - it was ok, good in parts but not one I'll watch again anytime soon
 
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974): This is still one of the most intense, brutal, and horrifying films ever made. From the moment Leatherface first appears onscreen until the end credits roll, the film is unrelenting. The movie does exactly what horror movies are supposed to do. This is a brilliant horror film, and definitely one of the most horrifying movies I've ever seen. (5/5)

The Re-Animator (1985): This film is gory and disgusting, yet also campy and hilarious. And I loved every second of it! Jeffrey Combs as Hebert West was by far my favorite part of the movie. His performance was so deadpan and hilarious. This was great, gory, campy fun. (4.5/5)
 
Summer Of Sam- (9/10) Probably my second favourite Spike Lee film after Do The Right Thing. The scene near the end is one of the best arguments against community vigilantism I have ever seen.

The Fly (8/10)- Kinda... gross? I mean, it is a landmark in the horror genre and all, but the whole concept and the ick factor. Not my kind of film, but for what it is I can appreciate it.

Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (8/10). So, Fincher has better films. Fight Club, Se7en, Zodiac... it is a well made film, don't get me wrong, and the Nine Inch Nails fan in me loves the music, but it could've been, better.

Fast & Furious 6 10/10

The serie is still as good and this new movie was mind-blowing! Even my mom (with whom I went) liked it 🙂 Funny as always and the races/car tricks are crazier than ever. Definitely tops Tokyo Drift (my all-time favorite F&F movie)
 
Serenity - 9/10

Just awesome. It's an emotional roller coaster. I get goosebumps and almost tear up at some of the scenes. Watched it right after Heart of Gold and Objects in Space, which made the movie an even more powerful experience.
 
The Hunting of Connecticut 2- 6/10 I'm actually really impressed with this. I know 6 is pretty low but it's actually pretty high for me lol I consider this horror flick above average which is better than what I can say about most horror movies lately. Actually, in comparison to other horror movies of the past 5 years, this probably deserve a 7-8/10.

The story is cliche, but the characters are refreshing and I think the actors did a good job.
 
Would you rather-7/10 Again very impressed with this film! Much better than I expected! Predictable but to me it's better than the Saw serie and the Hostel serie.

Plus Enver gjokaj is one of the lead! He's pretty much the only reason I saw the movie in the first place.
 
The Lion King - 8/10
Hadn't watched this movie in years. It's still pretty good and I think Hans Zimmer's score is amazing. The songs were a little bit annoying at times. And the three Hyenas are so funny 😀

Layer Cake - 7.5/10
Really cool. It's quite complicated, especially because I got confused with all the names, but it was really interesting. Daniel Craig is awesome in this movie.
 
Ghost writer - starring none other than David Boreanaz (not the lead though) who does the best job perhaps while he's tied up and gagged in women's underwear (you'll have to see it to believe it 😉)

All in all it is probably one of the strangest movies I've ever seen... It borders between so bad that it's good and so weird that it's bad... Alan Cummings does the perfect job of playing a neurotic, eccentric and most of all failed musician and his performance might just haunt your dreams. He's truly unsettling. It's funny cause it's dark, it's funny because it's bad... So if you have no taste for arty, peculiar or actually straight down weird movies you might wanna skip this one. If however films like 'Inland empire' is your thing then this might be the feel-good romp you've been looking for 😉
 
Deliverance- 9/10. Really great film. Something about forests, woods, hunters... really scare and frighten me.

Super- ?/10. Unsure, whether or not its a comedy or a satire or a parody. Alot of is quite distasteful and offensive and gross.

A Dangerous Method- 8.5/10 Surprisingly good.
 
Tucker and Dale vs Evil - 7/10

I had a massive laugh. Really fun flick, especially if you know the horror genre and it's stereotypes well. Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk are hilarious. Definitely recommendable.
 
"Man Of Steel."

Mostly too much. Too much CGI action, to the point that it actually gets boring. Far, FAR too much destruction. Imagine 9/11 for all of New York City, and you get some idea of what I'm talking about. With that much destruction, it would be cheaper and more practical to just move away and build a new city somewhere else. And, of course, there's the new costume, too much change just for the sake of change, which applies to the new rebooted comic book character was well, in my opinion.

I'm sure, however, that my opinion is in opposition to the majority of the current movie goers, as can be seen by the financial success of the movie.
 
Lawless - 7.5/10
Great crime movie. Guy Pearce was an amazing villain. He really makes you hate him. Despite my strong dislike for Shia LaBeouf, I have to say his performance was really great as well.

Man of Steel - 4/10
Crap, basically. Way too much CGI, and rather bad CGI, I might add. Boring, repetitive fights and a weak plot. Total letdown.

Layer Cake - 7.5/10
Good Brit crime movie. Can't quite touch Lock, Stock and the like, but Daniel Craig is aweosme in this movie.

Drive - 6/10
Very strong beginning, but after the first half it got kind of flat. I don't know. Didn't really like the rest of the movie.
 
Star Trek: Into Darkness 8/10

Loved a lot of it. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto make a terrific Kirk/Spock team! Benedict Cumberbatch was so good in his role that I genuinely wanted him to die by the end of the movie (although I absolutely love Benedict so it tore my heart a little). The action was incredible and I loved pretty much all of it.
and damn was I scared when Kirk went into the radiation system or whatever... I shed a few tears when him and Spock shared the Vulcan sign 🙁

Now onto what I liked less. At times, the movie was long. I didn't want to think anything of it, but it felt at some moments that it should have gone a bit quicker. Also, maybe it's just a personal opinion, but the chemistry between Zachary and Zoe just wasn't there. I don't know if it's because of their characters (after all, Spock isn't one to show his feelings) or because we now know that Zachary is gay (which doesn't happen to me when I watch NPH on TV, so maybe not).......... I just didn't feel it.
Anyways, I also wanted to discover more of the team from the Enterprise, and I felt sad the robot they showed wasn't introduced. We saw it and it talked at one point, but to me a robot active member of the crew would have made Start Trek a little more.... well Star Trek.

Oh, and I know Spock was always pictured that way but he reminded me of Sheldon Cooper at times XD (don't hate on me, Trekkies)

No, it's not just you. I'm a Trekker from the days when the original show was in its first run, and the Kirk/Spock bond that Shatner and Nimoy had just isn't there in the new version (this is one of the things that a lot of us in the "Star Trek" community feared would happen if the original story were ever recast) Maybe it has something to do with the close friendship that the actors themselves shared, that the replacements don't particularly have. Certainly some of the best "buddy shows" have had the same thing, the prime examples being Culp and Cosby in the old "I Spy" series, or Conrad and Martin in the "Wild, Wild West" series, both of which have been remade into less than successful reboots. It's always more convincing for actors to play friends if they actually ARE friends.

Also, with the great advances in CGI, and its excessive use in a movie like this, it's more difficult to actually feel a whole lot of anything coming from the plain old live actors. The computer steals all the glory. Only the most powerful personalities can make themselves noticed under those situations. The only time that a situation like that really worked, in my opinion, was Quaid and Connery in "Dragonheart."
 
There Will Be Blood - 8/10
By Paul Thomas Anderson. Daniel Day-Lewis was just amazing!!!

Safety Not Guaranteed - 7/10
Really cool film. I watched it for two reasons. One, imdb.com recommended it to me, because I'm interested in Much Ado About Nothing, two, because it's directed by Colin Trevorrow, the man who's writing and directing Jurassic Park IV. It didn't disappoint me. It was interesting from start to finish and it was really funny.
 
Bling Ring: 4/10. Eye candy? Sure. But this movie just didn't have what in my opinion makes Sophia so great. There were glimpses of it in her choice of soundtrack, her silent zoom into the faces of the villainous victims, shrouding them with understanding and sympathy. Historically Sophia is the master of the adolescent grey area--she charges us to embrace the young, disillusioned antiheroes and the transgressions they commit against themselves, against their people, against their futures--to the sounds of Air, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Aphex Twin, Mozart.

But this time she only dared to scratch the surface and the movie was over before that profoundly loud silence of hers had hit me. The endings of Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette take one's breath away. Bling Ring made its exit as if ashamed--quickly and suddenly--and as though it had never been.
