Shutter (2004) - 6/10
Pretty good horror movie. If you liked The Grudge and The Ring, you'll probably like this one as well. I did, anyway.
Thor: The Dark World - 6/10
I don't know if I liked it better than the first one, I'd have to watch the first one again, but I thought it was pretty good. Very entertaining. My friend, who really liked the first one, was totally blown away. And I don't want to say too much, but compared to the fight in Man of Steel, which seemed to go on forever, the final fight in this movie is a real treat.

Cabin in the Woods 9/10
Had to, since it's Halloween and it's the only horror movie I can watch. Maybe not good at 9PM in a dark house, though. Forgot there were that many creepy monsters in it XD

Insomnia (Chris Nolan's version) - 7/10
Pretty good cop thriller with a great atmosphere. Robin Williams' performance was great. Reminded me a little of Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects. Pacino was also great. Solid performance, classic Pacino.
Now that I've seen all Nolan movies, I can say that I think Inception is probably his weakest. With the exception of The Following, maybe. Call me a maniac, but Inception just wasn't for me. The soundtrack is amazing, though.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - 7/10
I thought it was slightly better than the first one. Visually it's pretty good. Especially the landscape shots. The CGI is slightly dated, but it's over 10 years old, so it's understandable. But I like that all the Orcs were people in masks, and not stupid motion capture monsters, like in The Hobbit.
And I know that many people love Gollum, but I thought he was just annoying most of the time.

Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters- 7/10
Pretty good movie! Took 2 of my boys and a friend to see it and they really liked it. Nathan Fillion's cameo pushed it to a 7 instead of a 6, so funny!!

I was totally left cold by the story. I didn't like Zooey Deschanel's performance. I thought she was totally boring. I also didn't think the movie was particularly funny.
The To Do List - 5.5/10
It's a lot like the American Pie movies. And although it's primarily about sex, there were some pretty funny "normal moments" in the movie. I was surprised that I was actually entertained throughout the whole movie. And, of course, Aubrey Plaza is awesome.

Captain Phillips - 8/10
Whoa, awesome! One of the best movies I've seen all year. Incredibly suspenseful and gripping.
Tom Hanks' acting is some of the best acting I've ever seen in my life. Just Incredible.

Thor: The Dark World- 8/10.
I liked the story, liked Christopher Eccleston as the bad guy, & the Asgard special effects were gorgeous. Liked the Loki story of course. Shirtless Thor scene was...I'm speechless. Yeah, I'm shallow.
The only thing I didn't like is that this is the 2nd instance in a Marvel movie where a woman gets taken over by a power she "can't handle" (the other one in Iron Man 3). Disappointing.

I liked it a lot more than the first one. I really liked how the Queen of Asgard (forgot her name....) was just as combative as Odin. Now that's the kind of woman I like to see. Also, major points to Jane for slapping Thor (twice) AND punching Loki!
And shirtless Thor was a nice eye-candy 😀

This Is The End 8/10
I've been wanting to see this movie for ages! I was pretty disappointed really. There was a bunch of funny stuff, but it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. Man, anybody who has seen this will know what I mean when I say I really want a damn Milky Way now! haha 😉

Again, I was disappointed. I really like the first one and this was nowhere near as good. Still a lot of creepy crap though! And I did like how the story weaved in with the events of the first movie, that was kinda clever.

The thing that amazes me is how far special effects have advanced over the years. The first "Star Wars" movie revolutionized movie making, and it's absolutely primative compared to what we have today.

Seven Samurai - 8/10
Awesome samurai epic. I guess some people might think this Japanese three-and-a-half-hour black and white film is boring as hell, but I don't feel like that at all. Although it's lots of talk and - considering the runtime of this thing - little action, I think it's really interesting.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire 9/10
Just realized I totally forgot to rate that one when I saw it last week.
Very good movie. Much better than a lot of young adult novel-based scenarios we've seen in the past few years. And better than the first one too. I'll be waiting impatiently for the 3rd instalment.

The last decent film I saw was I am Number 4. It was good, 9/10.
I watched it again the other day. Thought I recognised the actress Number 6, she was in the film The Sorcerer's Apprentice. It's good when you recognise actors from other shows, such as the leader of the Mogs used to be Joshua in Dark Angel.
Then I noticed that Marti Noxon was partly responsible for the screenplay.
