O Brother, Where Art Thou? - 7/10

I'm not a LOTR fan to begin with and I also didn't like the first Hobbit film very much. I think there was too much CGI, the score was kind of weak, in my opinion, especially compared to Howard Shore's other LOTR/Hobbit scores, there were too many characters, which is quite the problem if you're not familiar with the material, and the story was confusing for the same reason. However, the movie was still entertaining and worth watching, although I don't think I will ever watch it again, because it didn't exactly blow me away. I think 5 is fair. I'm not a hater. It's not like I gave it 1 or 2.

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug
Amazing. Top tier fantasy. Purists of the book will no doubt lose their minds over all the changes but for me, an annual trip into Peter Jackson's version of Middle Earth is a real Christmas treat.

Gangs of New York - 7/10
For some reason, all movies by Martin Scorses that I've watched have one thing in common that kind of takes me out of the movie. I can't exactly say what it is, though.
Anyway, this movie was still very good and Daniel Day-Lewis' performance was amazing.

There were flaws with the general narrative, yet I do always appreciate originality and bold risks, and for that, this film is a success. I do think the score I gave it will probably change when I rewatch it. The action sequences and the locations were terrific. A nice surprise, and not a waste of 160 minutes.

So there I was watching a DVD I bought a while ago and I began to realize that I'd seen the main actor in something else. The film I was watching is Beastly starring Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens. It was at the end of the film I realized where it was.
One of my current favourite films is I Am Number 4, partly because of the Australian actress Teresa Palmer and the actor who was Joshua in Dark Angel and partly because one of the people doing the screenplay was Marti Noxon.
Anyway it turns out that the lead in Beastly is also the lead in I Am Number 4.
both films would get a 9/10
I don't think a film will get a 10/10 from me as my favourite scene from any time is from the film Queen of the Damned. That scene is after David hears Marius saying hello to him, the scene of Lestat and Jesse walking over the bridge in London.

One of the funniest movies I've seen in a while.
Django Unchained - 8/10
Awesome! The shoot-out in Candie's house is one of my favorite shoot-outs of all time. My favorite is still the one from Heat, though.
Foo Fighters: Back and Forth - 9/10
Great biography of one of the greatest bands of all time. Dave Grohl is an amazing man. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes the Foo Fighters.

The Wolf of Wall Street: 7.5/10
Just saw this. It's good. Not great, but good. It's not even in the same league as some of Scorsese's other movies, and it doesn't exactly paint an accurate or realistic picture of Wall Street, but it's good. The best part, of course, is Leo, who just knocks it out of the park. He carries the entire movie (seriously, there's hardly a scene he isn't in), and "Wolf of Wall Street" essentially serves as a showcase for him. Jonah Hill is excellent (as he always seems to be of late) as DiCaprio's sidekick, and there are some truly hilarious parts to the movie.
However, on the flip side, it's a little long. It follows a very familiar format (even though there are some unique aspects to it) to other films of the genre and Scorsese doesn't really offer anything truly new or dynamic. It's a story of excess, which is a narrative theme that has become increasingly well-worn over the last few years.
I think with this movie, while I just didn't connect with it on an individual level (which often distinguishes a great movie from a favorite movie for me), I will still really appreciate it technically. Like everything Scorsese does, it's a visual tour de force. It's an event.
And of course, there's Margot Robbie, who is just jaw-droppingly hot.

Bad action. Bad plot. Bad logic. Pretty much just about bad all the way around. The only really good part of this movie is the opening 15 minutes or so, and after that it's all downhill. Nothing in this movie makes even the remotest bit of sense. Just about all the previously established continuity is ignored (I didn't know adamantium could break), the villains are all incredibly weak and just cartoonishly silly and the plot literally is so dumb it makes the head hurt. The after the credits scene was solid, but even that made no sense. Brutal.
This is in the running with "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" for the worst super-hero movie I've ever seen.

I had high hopes for this movie too. I thought it was pretty good until it fell apart in the 3rd Act. Cyber Samurai WTF?!

I think the movie would've been better if they had kept it simple. I kinda hoped that it was just gonna be Wolverine invastigating the old mans death. I liked some of the action sequences, though.

Dragons, giant metal warriors, evil shape shifting magicians, and Kenau Reeves. A lot of fun, plenty of action, and a surprisingly small amount of blood for a story of this sort.

I liked it. Jennifer Lawrence was awesome and everybody else was pretty good too. It was a bit too long though, I started to get restless.
