As I said in another post I am currently rewatching the entire series.
I just finished watching "Once More, With Feeling" and I actually really enjoyed it a lot.
Truth be told, when I saw this episode for the first time I thought it was extremely awkward and oddly placed not only in terms of what episode it was but also for what BtVS is know for...I would never have put a musical and BtVS together.
During my first viewing, I not only felt that it was awkward, but I was also cringing at it because I was really confused why they felt they needed to do such an episode...I thought the songs were not at all terrible but at the same time, I felt as if the whole experience was really out of place.
Having seen it for a second time, I not only appreciate the episode as a whole but I also can appreciate the music in terms of the lyrics and the meaning they convey in the BtVS universe. While I was watching just now, I really understood the placement of the songs in relation to the stories that were being told in the episode and in the season. The music was actually done very well and I think this is probably a large rarity in the television landscape... creatively speaking. I am actually going to watch it again for a third time because it is not only a fantastic BtVS episode, but also the singing gave me as a viewer more insight into the character development then a lot of the regular lines did for the entire season.
Did anybody else have any similar reaction or experiences with this particular episode?

With rewatching the entire series again I have become a very huge fan of this show. Having said that, I do not think this episode is something that you can only like if you are a major fan-- I think it's just something you kind of just have to see at least 1 more time to understand fully and appreciate.
Especially Sarah Michelle Gellar. One might be able to argue that her singing is the worst in the entire episode. But upon a second viewing, it is not only not that bad but it doesn't really matter because the lyrics mean so much more for the Buffy character.
