Well glad I haven't bought any of these, just heard that MinaLima aren't going to be doing any more of the books. So Jim Kay stepped down after book 5, and now only 3 of the MinaLima ones. Next time I'll wait til book 7 is out before buying them. I want a complete illustrated set! That's the ones I have, but I also want the MinaLima editions.
That’s impressive. I am upto 43 now so should be able to reach 52 by year end. Partly by picking a lot of short books earlier in the year. I didn't realise there were so many classics under 200 pages.I did it, 52 books read this year! I'm not going to adjust the goal, but just see what I get to at the end of the year.
I'm not really adding any more to the 52 books challenge at the moment so I doubt I'll complete that.
Yes, I have a lot of books that will fill several prompts, however I'm trying to only use one book per prompt, so it's deciding the best fit for each. Of the ones I have left, I could switch around books for a few of them. There's still prompts like A smelly book, that I haven't thought about yet. That’s impressive. Most books tend to fit into about 6 categories on the 52 book club prompts and I have just finished The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell which fitted into 14 ! I have managed to fit all my reads into their prompts, but it has involved a lot of moving things around.
So you could probably fit your books into their prompts if you really wanted to. It just depends on whether you are as obsessive about these things as I am which is not recommended !
Yes I only use each book against 1 prompt but will often move a book from say Prompt 1 to Prompt 2 because I can only fit my current book against Prompt 1. I would be lost without Excel !Yes, I have a lot of books that will fill several prompts, however I'm trying to only use one book per prompt, so it's deciding the best fit for each. Yeah, I'm sure there's prompts I've done but haven't ticked off, like hybrid genre and published by Hachette, but I'm still on track at 40/52 ticked off.Yes I only use each book against 1 prompt but will often move a book from say Prompt 1 to Prompt 2 because I can only fit my current book against Prompt 1. For smelly book I used a paperback I had bought years earlier and never got round to reading which had that old paper feel. And any book from a library or jumble sale would fit.
But on their website it says it can also refer to a brand new book, a book you didn’t like, one with a scented object on the cover or lots of other things so it is very generalised
Yes I completed it and finished on 57 for the year so was chuffed about that ! I wouldn’t have got remotely close to that without doing the challenge and it does encourage you to read books you wouldn’t normally.@Dogs of Winter how have you done? I've read over 52, so I need to move books around to fit the prompts better. Either way I'm happy with what I've read this year.
I looked at the list, and found it quite uninspiring for next year, I'll keep it in mind but not sure I'll really try to complete it.I have been looking at doing it again next year and a lot of the categories seem a bit more generic than this year, especially if you like crime.
I know what you mean - the prompts are definitely more generic this year. But without the challenge I would probably only read half the books and waste the extra time on my phone so I do find it helpful.I looked at the list, and found it quite uninspiring for next year, I'll keep it in mind but not sure I'll really try to complete it.
