okay, here is my attempt at an angel fanfic. it is not yet finished and will be continued soon. it is set after 'a hole in the world', focuses on fred, and is in script format. well, here goes nothing! please post your comments!
PART I
(There is a shot of the city. The camera pans out to reveal a glowing ball of light floating the sky. The higher it gets, the more the light deteriorates. When it is almost gone, there is a flash and ir disappears)
(Cut to a dark, mostly empty cave. There is a demonic-looking creature standing there with his arms outstretched. The light-ball appears before him and slowly grows more radiant. It suddenly transforms into Fred. It is her soul, almost burned up. She looks around, shaky and confused, until her eyes finally settle on the demon)
Demon: Ah, Winifred Burkle.
(Opening Credits)
Fred: (still shaking) W-Where am I? Who are you? D-
Unknown Demon: (gently) Hush. My name is Hermese and I am now your guide. I am a messenger for the Powers That Be. Remember them?
Fred: Yes. W-Why aren't I"¦ Aren't I supposed to be-
Hermese: Dead? Well, yes. Illyria has taken your body; you no longer have a place here. Your soul is supposed to burn up and then you will no longer exist in anything but a memory.
Fred: (Has stopped shaking) Supposed to?
Hermese: Yes. You see"¦(nods towards a stone bench in the cave) please, sit down. (Fred sits) You see, you have more to do in your life. Though Illyria's resurrection was pre-destined, her inhabitation of your body was not. And that's why I have brought you here, and spared you from that cruel fate. Fred; May I call you Fred? (Fred nods) Fred, there are many dimensions, as you are already aware of. Some are hell dimensions such as Pylea and Quor-Toth; but there are also dimensions of alternate realities. One small change can trigger a whole different future. Do you understand?
Fred: Yeah. You're talking about that alternate reality theory. For every action there is another reality where all the viable actions and outcomes for that one event happen.
Hermese: (Upset he doesn't get to explain further) Well"¦yes. (decides to anyway) Say Angel had never rescued you from Pylea; Doyle had never passed on his visions; you never took the job at Wolfram and Hart; Angel became human and went back to Buffy. There's a dimension for each of these realities, Fred.
Fred: Yeah, I get it. What I don't get is what any of this has got to do with me.
Hermese: (Laughs lightly) Well that's simple my dear. If you went to one of these realities, you'd sure as hell be able to do some good. That's what the powers have sent me to do. Send you there.
Fred: To another dimension? Which one?
Hermese: That's the catch; they're not sure. It's my job to guide you through the different dimensions until you can find the one you belong in. In some, you existed in the world of Team Angel, but you died. There you will have to explain some of this to them. In the others, you died in Pylea and can choose to tell them what you wish. And be warned. Some of these world are much more different and much more dangerous. Not to mention that what your friends have been through makes them who they are; take away some of that, and they can be different as well. Or maybe they don't change much at all. You'll have to see.
Fred: (stands) You can't just show up and tell me to do this.
Hermese: True, true. If you feel it's best, you're more then welcome to go back to the way you were and let your soul burn up. You'll be gone forever. You'll cease to exist. Not just dead, but with no soul left. Every essence of you destroyed, demolished, obliterated, broken"¦
Fred: Okay, okay. But"¦
Hermese: But?
Fred: But what if I don't want to do this. What if I get killed?
Hermese: Can it be any worse than your soul burning up? "¦Okay, it can. But I doubt it'll happen that way for you. Trust me, trust the Powers.
Fred: The Powers who have been so helpful in the past?
Hermese: Admittedly, we've had some problems in the past, and granted we're not the most loved bunch, but trust me on this: You can't mess with destiny, and this is yours.
Fred: Like it was Cordy's destiny to become a higher power and"¦
Hermese: (Annoyed) All right! All right! Forget it! (Gentler) Just tell me, what do you want to do?
(Cut to the shot of the city again. The glowy-light rises again, more powerful than before. Camera suddenly fades to white. There are consecutive fast flashes from the present time period of Angel, going backward to flashes of the past. They flash faster and faster and freeze on the ending scene of Thin Dead Line. Clips suddenly rush forward in such a blur; it is impossible to tell what happens in them. The screen fades to white)
(Cut to an alley in L.A. The glowy-light appears and bursts, leaving Fred, soul body and all, behind it. She looks around in recognition and begins to walk)
(Cut to in front of the Hyperion. Fred walks inside the building. The lights are on but thee is no one there. Some of the furniture is arranged differently. She walks up to the front desk)
(It looks the same except instead of one desk behind the front desk, there are three smaller ones, each with their own phone and cluttered in papers. One has a computer and so does the front desk. The artwork decorating the hotel has more of a feminine touch. Next to the desks in back is the weapons cabinet. She walks up to the front desk and sees business cards. They read Hope & Faith Investigations. There is a card for Cordelia Chase, Charles Gunn, Wesley Wyndham-Pryce, and Kate Lockley)
(Fred is examining the cards when Cordy walks in. She has grown her hair long again and she has blood smeared on her forehead. She is carrying a sword)
Cordy: Can I help you?
Fred: Um, yeah. Well"¦maybe. Uh"¦hi. I'm Fred Burkle.
(She reaches her hand out for a handshake. When Cordy doesn't shake, she pulls it back. Cordy walks over to the weapons cabinet and replaces the sword)
Cordy: So, what's your problem? Demons attacking you and your friends? Ghosts haunting your house? Vampires lurking? Trust me, we've seen everything. (Looks her up and down) Even tacky outfits like that. (some things never change!)
(Gunn enters, also blood-stained, with a battle axe)
Gunn: (happy) Woo! I'm feelin' good today! Those demons never knew what him 'em! Ain't that right? (Looks over Fred and whistles) Who's this?
Cordy: (gives him a playful slap) A potential client.
Gunn: Well, we certainly got plenty of those"¦(smiles) but none of "˜em looked like this!
Cordy: (Rolls her eyes) Give me a break. (To Fred) Be with you in it a minute. Please, make yourself comfortable. (Gestures to some luxurious leather chairs off to the side)
Fred: Actually, I'm, here-
Gunn: So are Wes and Kate back yet?
(Fred realizes they are not listening and settles herself in a chair to observe them)
Cordy: Nope, don't see them.
Gunn: Well, when are they getting back? Your vision wasn't exactly crystal clear, and we have no idea what they're facing right now.
Cordy: (sarcastic) Well excuse me if I forgot to adjust the satellite dish in my head!
Gunn: (sighs) I just hope they didn't run into"¦(notices Fred again and clears his throat) you know, him.
(Gunn goes to put away his sword and Cordy goes up to Fred)
Cordy: (smiles) Sorry for the wait. Please, step into my"¦cubicle.
(Fred follows her to one of the desks)
Cordy: Ignore the shoddy condition of the area (tries to organize some papers in a hurry), our offices upstairs are being renovated at the moment. (Gives up with the papers and sits at the desk). So, how can we help you?
Fred: Well, it's kind of complicated. See, I'm from another reality and-
Gunn: You need help getting back?
Fred: Um, no. I-
Cordy: Have information for us?
Fred: Um, no. I-
Gunn: Want us to kill some big, scary monster for you?
Fred: (frustrated) No! Just listen.
(Gunn pulls up a chair backwards and sits on it with his arms rested over the back)
Gunn: I guess we haven't seen everything.
Fred: Okay, see"¦(takes a moment to think) In the reality I'm from, I died. (tries to correct herself nervously) Well, I almost died. I mean, my body"¦um"¦let me try this again. See, my soul was going to burn up, and a messenger for the Powers That Be saved me He said I had a destiny in another reality. And that's why I'm here. I guess you could say I'm searching for my destiny.
Cordy: Well, you don't need to be from an alternate reality to do that.
Gunn: So let me get this straight, your from another reality, come here to find your destiny?
Fred: (smiles shyly) Yup.
Gunn: What made you come here?
Fred: In my reality, I was from here. I mean not from here, but-
(Suddenly, the door bursts open and in run Wesley and Kate. They look scared)
Cordy: (stands quickly and looks concerned) What is it?
Wesley: (out of breath) He's back.
Fred: He?
(Cordy and Gunn's eyes widen in recognition)
Kate: And he's on his way here.
(Fade out- possibly to a commercial if it were an episode)
