I wonder if that’s why JLP was replaced? Because I’m sure that came with a smaller budget, and JLP was probably expensive after so many years hosting.

Yeah the budget was the excuse to fire him. David doesn't need the money after his DONDI win. Survivor AU is free on Tenplay, were as US aired free on 9now.

But now they want to make us pay for Stan to see Survivor 50, which isnt going to happen. A lot of fans already pay for streaming, but those of us who dont, wont start now either. I wonder if CBS put the price up for this season? But airing it on Stan means no advertising revenue either. It will drop down to be free on 9now or tenplay (has all the rest of the US seasons) eventually.

Survivor AU is doing poorly in the ratings. They are never going to beat MAFS in the ratings. People watch MAFS live and then download AU so they can skip the ads. Not sure how much longer Tenplay will exist for, by all accounts they are going broke. Hopefully another channel will pick up Survivor AU, if they do, and then I will definitely pay for whoever streams it!

Not sure how much I will be able to see, but here we go, Survivor 50!

I rewatched s1 a few years ago, and it was great fun, the sort of show you would show school kids. We dont see Jeff on the side of helicopters or mountains anymore! Im so happy they included the IM PISSED hahahah always makes me laugh, highlight of the 40's.

These guys are pros with the strategy straight out of the gate, sending the little women to dig the holes. Funny that Stef blitzed both the 40's in fitness.
Colby and Kyle are a good team, did they collide with ozzie on purpose? Jonathon looks like some sort of sea god out there. Ugh Charlie, I hope he is less annoying. No puzzle at the end, always love a first fire challenge.

Wow 2 weeks is not a long time to recover for Savanah and Rizz. Jenna is right, Cirie gets a long way on a social game, never seeming like the threat she is.

Tribal was good, felt friendly, now who goes....Wow! Im so happy that I miss- read the edit! This is a good sign 😀 Jenna was the biggest threat out of the big 3 that were up. So I think a good call from the tribe. But wait, theres more!

Ooop Genevive cant hide it from Stef, interesting she brought Kyle straight in. Billie Elish? The singer? Is she taking over from Sia? Felt a bit like the hunger games - personal protections from the outside. Ozzy is a good choice, will be funny if he does get blindsided again.

Uhoh Jeff on a boat is never a good sign. Oh no 🙁 Im having achillies tendon issues right now too, I hope this doesnt take Kyle out of the game. Doesnt look good 🙁 Jeff being good to speak up on the duty of care, if they dont take Kyle out, the show is liable. Kyle should know that. Two aussies got seriously injured in survivor AU and got huge pay outs because they were career ending injuries. I guess we got blood!

Yay! Half the fun of watching is getting to discuss it with you and @Cohen.

I was happy to see some of my favorites back: Cirie, Aubrey, Kamilla, and Kyle. Not happy to see Savannah, Rizzo, and Coach. And so happy that Rob Mariano didn't come back! Some I don't remember at all, but the group as a whole has a good dynamic. I couldn't believe how athletic the challenges were! Don't they know some of these people are in their 50's or 60's?

The reminiscences are getting to me. Heroes vs. Villains was 15 years ago?! That's one of the seasons I liked best, and still remember! Everyone is "version 2.0" or even more. I wonder if the producers told them to say that, because at least four people did.

I think we might have, but not sure. I think they actually started with 25 people, as someone said their tribe got an extra ninth person. But I don't think there is someone from every season, as there are two from some. I can't believe that Savannah and Rizzo only had two weeks to recover. I wonder if we will see their energy fade more quickly than others, though they have the advantage of youth. I wonder if the season will be longer, because of all the additional people, or if they will just kick them off faster.

Indeed! People have been so passive about starting fire without a flint in recent seasons. Or maybe they don't show the attempts. But in early seasons, there was no flint. Richard Hatch may have smuggled matches in his butt, but at least he had the ingenuity to do it!

Excellent point about the Hunger Games! Is every advantage going to be sponsored by a celebrity? Ugh!

The journey/exile was brutal! It really does put those two behind by missing out on overnight relationships. It was actually lucky for Ozzy that Cirie wanted to play with him, I really thought he was going to be first to go. I am so happy he wasnt because it means my read on the edit was wrong and this is going to be a much more entertaining show for me 😀

Jenna was a massive threat and showed that she was from the start, if she had been able to swing that vote, she would have dominated. Cirie was in the game fast and realised that. I dont think the others had the experience Cirie did to see how it would unfold if Jenna got a foot hold. I see it as a huge move to take Jenna out, this game began straight away!

I'm actually loving Ozzy being old, less athletic and with that hair style. Complaining about his sore back in the first challenge is GOLD to me. Its good to show the young fans that no matter how cool and fit you are in your youth, age does have an impact. I see so many in their 20's right now completely believing if they live clean and exercise right, poor health, disabilities and the ravages of age will never find them. Its fantastic to show the realities. So much on tv, especially reality, is focused on the young and beautiful. I also enjoyed Colby talking about his deaf side and poor eyesight. 🤣

Kyle's face as he was told he would have to be evacuated was heartbreaking, but that's Survivor for you. With all these oldies on the show, I bet there will be more medical evacuations.

Especially since Kamilla was in it too and if they both got to merge, how that would have played out. I hope everyone is careful out there. Kyles injury was just an annoying slip, he must have been devastated. I hope he fully recovers because ankle injuries may not seem that serious, but we are walking creatures, and it could affect his quality of life for the rest of his life if he wasnt pulled for treatment.

I’m glad that David is doing it because he loves the show and game. I’m sure he will come into his own over time, if continues to be renewed!

It’s wild to me that people want to watch MAFS live and not Survivor! In the US, it’s still appointment TV, and gets good ratings for a 25 year old show!!

I love Colby being back!! And he seems to be more clocked in than his Heroes v Villains run. I will never get over him allowing Danielle to have that advantage/immunity. It showed his heroism

Colby already has so much growth in the show, going from hating Rizzo to wanting to adopt him 😂 . Colby and Kyle would have been a great team, but they both play from the nobel hero type, where as Rizz has always been scheming, sneaky, cheeky with a challenging personality. It will be entertaining to see how the Colby/Rizz plays out, if they team up or if they turn. My money is on Rizz getting Colby before Colby gets him. It all depends on how long they are in the tribes for!

Three tribes isnt quite as jarring this time, I felt like I got a good feel for all of them. Maybe because we already know most of the players.

I think it’s because it’s eight people per tribe instead of just six. We are able to see different dynamics. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind seeing more three tribe seasons if they start with eight players instead of six. It also offers more chance of alliance and flipping in the first couple weeks before merge.

I agree about Jenna. I also like that big threats are being targeted right away. Of course, that's because they mostly know each other. Only Savannah and Rizzo would be unknowns, assuming the players watched all the seasons!

I also agree that I like the older players having aches and pains! But I disagree that this will teach younger viewers anything: they will still think it will never be them.

I was surprised that Kyle ruptured that tendon so easily. But it's a major tendon, so best that he's getting it treated. Three months of physical therapy, they said!

I like that, too. When there are only six, it's too easy for the tribes to become too small too quickly. This way, they have some cushion even if they lose a couple people.

Poor Jackson 🙁 Im really sad for him, I liked Eliza as much as he did. Lets see how Harry plays this. No need, Lyndl is going to dig her own hole.

David seems to be having fun with this one "Whos going to take the cake?" And Tez lands it first go! OOh an old school portion control. Rich, you dont have to tell anyone you are a CEO, you stink of it. He has a great read on the threats. Cam missing out cos of his dud arm. Aishas seen a scroll, better for Cam too not to have to stand watching them lol. Wow, weird advantage.

David struggling with the commantary again. He's doing the job, but minus the flare of JLP. Bounty are all fat from their chocolate cake. Ben is securing his spot by being such a challenge beast. Thats two that Mark has won for his team. Harry devo, but he did so well to catch up to that point.

Someone is going to spill to Lyndl, whos the split? Lyndl is a spanner, Lottie should have been more careful with that news... Why is Cam not a name? Could be a split tribe, no one seems to have a solid vote, except for Jackson. Bit of a flat tribal. I was almost as blind as Harry, didnt know Lottie had the numbers.

I want Mark to get Johnson gone too. I dont remember if I disliked him this much on Big Brother but I do now. I want Mark to take him out, but worry they might get Mark first.

Grab those hip Don hahaha. Great teamwork from bounty to catch up like that twice, and bad luck twice! Three times, if you count the fact its immunity and not reward.

Ooof Aisha playin the game! Saving Loz! Harrys target. And caleb misses the scramble? Another immunity! No wonder it was immunity challenge off the bat. A chance to see the challenge threats. Im rootin for Harry, but this is a female advantage, I hope Lyndl doesnt win it! Big boys out. C'mon Harry! Bummed. This is one of those times that I cant disagree that the show is rigged - that was a perfect challenge for Lyndl and no one else.

Oh interesting that Loz is the only one who can get in Calebs ear. I wonder if Aisha had planned that knowing who Loz would target.
Why is Jackson their only option? Like Cam is useless, Rich is nothing special.

Caleb came back a bit too cocky. Sob more Simon, you didnt have to vote for Harry. Simon taking a bit of a page out of Davids book, sucking up to gain trust. Its working for him.

Physical challenge tonight. Always worth it for nachoes. No high tackles please!
Sally sit out, she seems to sit out a lot. I hated her redemption story, I want her gone.

Keely are you supposed to tell Johnson this?! Faith is hilarious. And a strong player - threat to Mark. Now Keely telling Ben, Sally telling Tez. I thought they would just get enough to swing it rather than let everyone in. Mark sniffs it out now. Brooke was no where on this! Now Faith brings her in. Its a bit weird that Faith is so sure that Caleb would stick to Mark, considering his glee at getting Harry out. I thought Faith was with Mark in the ruby soho alliance, like getting Caleb out would probably be better for Marks game, but not voting Johnson will piss Mark off and he'll feel less confident in his control. I also want Johnson out Mark... he will be a challenge beast if he gets to merge.

They were all so keen to vote someone else out hahah. Brooke playing with fans this time, shes nervous. Didnt need to show the idol but I can see why. Im glad it wasnt too long of a tribal, and that the long scramble was suitably confusing as to who is going next! I need to be waiting for the vote tonight 😀 Woot! So all that Caleb talk was misdirect.

@November I'm going to have to check again if Survivor AU is something I can get on the streams that I have.

Meanwhile, on Survivor US, they don't seem to be making the challenges easier just because so many older people are on the show. Lucky some of these 50-somethings have kept in shape!

I barely remember Christian from his original season, but he's quality now. His analytical seriousness made the unfortunate pants incident all the funnier! I wish they had shown more of his thinking about what he decided to do with his boomerang idol, whether he chose Aubry for an ally or because he thought she would get voted out quickly.

I wasn't sorry to see Savannah go, but I was surprised at how emotional she was in leaving. For one thing, she just finished a season, and won that. For another, players are usually more stoic when getting their torches snuffed, and Savannah in general is not emo. I dislike the new way that Survivor obfuscates who the one voted out will be. It's good not to make it too obvious, showing discussions about a few candidates, but lately - as with this one - the vote seems out of left field. Yes, they discussed Savannah, but most of what we were shown was about other people.

Aubry got the idol after Genevive searched the bag? Thats some good luck! But I think it is going to boomarang back to poopy pants. The fact they can only play the idol for themselves is limiting for gameplay but good this early in so that person can specifically stay in.

I wish they had shown more of his thinking about what he decided to do with his boomerang idol, whether he chose Aubry for an ally or because he thought she would get voted out quickly.

YES agreed, I thought my stream might have left something out. I wanted to see more reasoning behind it too - maybe they will show it later.

Oh I hate the giant snakes, they look painful for backs. Wow, that was a comeback considering the Rizz/Gen start. Now the pressure is on for the other two. Sad for the designated disaster tribe.

Yeah I know but it was so ridiculous as a distraction! He could have pointed to something, but I guess shitting yourself and falling on the ground is going to get more air time haha. Those two are acting like they are in goofy real tv show rather than a reality show, but its entertaining, so I am not complaining. I just wouldn't want to see the slapstick every season.

I think they are counting on the bluff to be enough. To send people into a panic if the vote was decided before tribal on either of the two of them. I hate the whispering/live tribals, but a fake idol at the last minute would cause one.

I really liked the ring toss challenge, those are the kind that get me really into it like a man is into sports.

Finally watched the last ep of the Traitors US. What a great game from Rob.. I preferred the game after the housewives got out. But he played so well the whole way through. And the final reveal was everything its meant to be! Huge player, he will never be trusted again lol.

Cam finally does something useful. See how they are all covered in mud, gives the edit away. David looks so happy and like he is having so much fun. He's nowhere near the pro Jeff or JLP level of commentary yet, but I love that he looks like he is having as much fun as the cast. My netball skills would win this 😛

Faith is the mediator between Keely and Mark. Keely is pushing this move but I rekon Faith should take Mark to merge, hear his gameplan and then get him because the numbers will be there.

See, I hate whispering tribals but I LOVE whispering challenges. Great to watch how Mark gets the info from Ben and relays the information. Faith is absolutely his number 1, and shes already planning to betray him. The experienced players really showed how valuable information is. From the very beginning Brooke was questioning the other tribe, now no one is nervous to ask anything.

Jackson just spills the entire tin of beans all over Mark within the first 30 seconds, Hilarious himbo. Mark has his numbers, while Tez turns on his tribe. Now I have to do maths... I haven't got much to say about the recent episode of Survivor US, except that it bothers me how often Black players are the first voted out of a group, as Q was this week. The reasons for voting someone out are unique to each situation, as here, since there was a natural alliance of three players from a previous season. Yet I have noticed over time how often Black players seem to be voted out first (or at least early) when tribes have just formed or re-formed. Obviously, they should not be not voted for just because of their race, but I wish other players would have a little self-reflection before kicking off a Black player because they "don't fit in." In fact, I understand that there was some discussion of this last season, when three Black players were voted off in a row, but the producers edited it out.

I don't know why Christian couldn't have pulled Emily aside at some point, instead of dumping the info on her during the tribe switch-up! I can see why she thought it was suspect, too.
