Recast Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

ive tried doing this, i really have, and i honestly can not! Its funny when iw ent to pick up #10 of the comics the owner of the store was like "i wish they did a movie" and i was like "but itd HAVE to be the same cast" and he's like "of course, otherwise its just not Buffy." And i totally agree with him. It's so hard to recast. It seems... blasphemous!

Oh but let me say i do love the idea that one person put on the site about Adam Brody being Xander. i can actually see that. But... blasphemous! lol

I duno about Brody...it would just be Seth Cohen in Buffy...but I'm with ya, I can't do this either!

Gosh, this is hard! I just did the cast from the article. I didn't add any extra that would have made my head hurt!

Buffy (Sarah Michelle Prinze) = Jena Malone (Mary, Saved!)
I was really impressed with her acting in this movie. She played a difficult, highly emotional role, but she was able to keep is light and comical. I think that's just the sort of balance Buffy needs.

Xander (Nicholas Brendon) = Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson's Creek)
He was basically the Xander of Dawson's Creek, so that's why I picked him. He might be too old now, though.

Willow (Alyson Hannigan) = Alexis Bledel (Rory, Gilmore Girls)
This was a hard one to cast. I ended on Alexis Biedel because I think she can play shy and timid like a champ, but she's also got the acting chops to take the character through all of Willow's many changes.

Giles (Anthony Head) = Colin Firth (Mark Darcy, Bridget Jones)
In this role, I cast the only British actor who might actually be able to make the role more swoonworthy than ASH made it. Might. Possibly. Love to see him try.

Spike (James Marsters) = Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing, General Hospital)
I am a huge fan of this man's acting! He just rocks my world. He gets crap writing, but he gives it his all and turns out brilliant performances. His acting style is very much in the same vein as is James' Marsters. Many of their facial expressions and body movements seem similar to me. Rick Hearst already plays a bad, bad man who is seeking out redemption. In this role, he'd actually get redemption. That would be a refreshing change. 🙂

ummm what are you saying? Who would you cast then? I mean the actors that played the roles we love and cleary it wouldnt be buffy if recasts were made ....
its hypothetical, "who would you cast if there was a movie and non of the orignals could play the parts?"....

That's to hard for me to do, I wouldn't change the cast for the world [Or maybe, world domination sounds good :lmao:] Anyway 😛 When you like the show this much, it's impossible to imagine the characters played by anyone else...
 
I've seen a lot of these recast BTVS threads here at BB. I think my favorite recasting suggestion I've ever seen is Scarlet Johansson as Buffy. I've never heard of a Willow replacement that really clicked.

For a new one how about Shia Lebeouf as Xander?
 
personally I think Scarlett is too "soft" to get down and dirty and kick demon butt! LOL

A good stunt woman, a knowledgeable second unit guy, and a great actress can sell it.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was a soap actress, and victim number 3 from a couple of thrillers when she got the part.
 
eh...I'll check it out I guess...I would like to see another side of her than I already know (nanny diares, gohst world, ect...)maybe then I will change my mind. We shall see.

Anyways, none of em fit and they all would be weird but that's the best I can do because I can't see anyone replacing any of them.
