I think one reason for their odd rankings is that its a joint list that they have to comprise on.

There's been a few they completely disagree on, so end up compromising. That's the problem with two people trying to compile a rankings list though. I do enjoy their chemistry though. Both positively and negatively, you can tell they're married 😉

I couldn't even start ranking episodes like that, so fair play to them for giving it a bash. I don't necessarily agree with all their rankings, but I really enjoy their podcast because they look in depth at the story and the writing and I don't think any other Buffy podcast does that in such detail. It always gives me personally a fresh perspective on certain plot points. Pretty much every time I listen to one of their podcasts, I walk away with an "oh yeah!" feeling.

@Mr Trick That's quite cool you got an email from Lani Diane Rich! 🙂

The reason I'm more into written reviews than podcasts is the reviewers' tendency to go off topic more often than not. They either bicker between each other or tell us endless stories about their private life experiences. Like the other day I was listening to a Prophecy Girl review and almost 30 minutes were wasted on the reviewers were discussing their dating experience in high school. Who cares?

What podcast was that?
I prefer them too. What reviews do you read?

Anything out there. I think the best written reviews had to be Maggie's from LJ. I love how they dig deep into the analysis and the fresh new prospectives. Sadly it stops at S3 Consequences, but it's really worth checking out.

If you're interested in S8 reviews. Better check Stormwreath's S8 reviews. They're the best out there.

Oh my god! I don't know if you guys have watched the latest episode of Dusted (The Body/Forever), but they just said that the episode is about the negative space surrounding the body. I said the same thing weeks earlier:

TEACHER
Okay, remember, we're not drawing the object, we're drawing the negative space around the object. We just draw the edges of the figure, and then give me a sense of the spaces around, the space in between.
[...]
As Kevin and more kids move toward the glass to see the girl on the floor, whom now we cannot hear -- in fact there is silence entire -- the camera forward, loses them, turning to focus on Dawn's drawing: the outline of a figure, but not the figure itself. Negative space.

I like how the episode is not about the body - Joyce - but rather what surrounds the body, meaning the negative space - the scoobies. And the outline of the figure that Dawn draws looks like her mom lying dead on the couch. It's such a cool detail that shows how well thought out this episode was. It's one of the few Buffy episodes that's perfect from start to finish.

I called it first! I feel so smart! But they're all: it's so on the nose and obvious?! It took me like 4 viewings to even pick up on that! Shows off. 🙄

Sorry 😛 *fan girl moment over*

They are totally reading BB and copying you!
I just noticed the announcement by Storywonk who make the Dusted podcast. They are getting a divorce so won't be doing the podcast together any longer. 🙁

WHAT?!!? 😱

I'd heard this too. I hope Lani continues with it eventually, though it won't be the same.

I'm very sad for them both. I know Lani posted about suffering from depression late last year, so it sounds like they've both had a tough time lately. It definitely won't be the same without both their analysis on the episodes....

Wait seriously? That sucks. I mean it sucks for them. But it also is sad to hear for the fans of the podcast. I was hoping they'd do a Gilmore Girls podcast after Buffy. Oh well.

Its sad to hear, but then all those disagreements about the rankings of Buffy and Angel episodes will do that to you😉 I wish Lani well in her fight as depression🙂

That is really sad yes. I'm sure there were so many good podcast projects that would have come from there. Shame they couldn't at least finish Buffy off. And the forum's a really fun place to post too.

At some point soon I will be checking Lani's new shows out as I hear she is planning podcasts on both the West Wing and Gilmore Girls🙂

Ah no! That's sad, I loved Dusted. I wanted them to at least finish Buffy. 🙁 If Lani does a Gilmore Girls podcast I will check that out. But I'm going to miss Dusted.

You right . Too bad they didn't get through all of them.
