Chapter 1

AN: This is my first ever fanfic. So, ideas and tips for writing would be awesome. Not canon (Of course). A few events happen out of time for when they happened in the series.

Faith took her first step outside as a free woman. The sun momentarily blinding her. Faith could not believe that she had been released for ‘good behavior’ after only a little bit over a year. She was positive that some outside force had played a part in her early release. Though, what a year it had been. When Faith had first arrived she was just a shell of what she used to be. The life, energy, and joy were striped from her eyes leaving a hollow and mournful look to them. It seemed that it had finally hit Faith what she had done and who she had become. The knowledge of that destroyed her.

With the help of Angel, Faith started to make amends for the pain that she had inflected on others. Angel was the only thing stable in Faith’s life, and he became a major support system for her. Angel came by every single week, and then later other members of the Fang Gang started coming to visit Faith also. Being given forgiveness gave Faith even more courage and strength to strive to better herself.

Faith strolled up to the black car with the darkly tinted windows. When she rapped on the window the driver was startled out of his sleep. As the driver got out of the car he was bombarded with an unexpected hug from the dark haired slayer who stood in front of him.

Faith spoke first, “Wes, wicked seeing you here! Was ‘bout to call a cab. How are you, man?”

Wesley cleared his throat and smiled warmly at the girl before answering. ”I am good, thanks for asking, Faith.” Wesley was the last person to warm up to Faith. It was not until after Angel had forced Wesley go to the jail to see how Faith was doing was when Wesley started to believe that Faith had changed. The first time Wesley went down he just watched the interaction between Faith and Angel, Wesley saw Faith crying and apologizing for all that she had done. He saw how different she looked from when he first met her. The lively, energetic and wild woman that he once knew was gone, and in her place was a tormented girl with a broken soul. To think that Faith was not sorry for what she had done, one would have to be blind and deaf. What Wesley saw next shook him to his core, he saw Faith begging Angel to take her life, again, saying that she was evil and did not deserve to live. So many possibilities of what he could have done to save Faith ran through Wesley’s mind. What if he had not called the Council? What if he had been a better watcher? All of the ways that he could have saved this broken girl would not leave his head. That was all in the past though, both he and Faith were able to find forgiveness and finally understanding of each other, that would led to a growing friendship.

Faith hoped into the car, “So, whatca gonna be doing today, Wes?”

Wesley gave Faith a taunting smile, “Oh, you will see…..”

After about thirty minuets of pointless driving around LA they arrived at the Hyperion Hotel. “Wow, you guys really fixed this place up.” Faith grabbed her bag and headed inside. When Faith reached the doorway and walked inside, she saw all the arrays of food and decorations set out.

Angel walked over to Faith and gave her a hug. ”I would have come and picked you up, Faith, but you know, the whole sun issue.”

Faith warmly accepted Angel’s embrace, “This is wicked man. You should not have gone through all of this trouble.”

“I wanted to, you deserve it. Also, I think Cordy would have ended my un-life if I had not.” Angel smiled at the troubled girl that he had grown close too. Just as he mentioned Cordelia she rounded the corner into the lobby. She shrieked when she saw Faith, “Angel! Why did you not tell me that Faith was here!” She lightly smacked the broad chested vampire. ”Faith, how are you enjoying life as a free woman, again? I hope not having too much fun,” she said with a wink.

As Faith was about to respond Cordelia went in for a hug, “Well Queen C, can’t really say. Wes just picked me up and dropped me off here. But you know me, five by five like always.”

Faith gave everyone her signature cocky smirk, “Man, a girl could get used to all of these hugs. Maybe I should go to jail more often.” The looks that Faith got caused her to burst out with laughter which made the others join her shortly.

Faith was then introduced to Gunn and Fred. She and Gunn hit it off right away; they talked about their favorite weapons and other really random stuff. Anyone who had not known that they had never met before would not have been able to guess.

Faith’s introduction to Fred was more stressed. Whenever Faith tried talking to her, Fred would ramble off about crazy scientific stuff that Faith could not follow. Fred also kept asking Faith about the perfect taco, which Faith had no idea how to respond to.

After about four hours of parting and hanging out the sun had dropped but everyone was still having a good time. The memories of their pasts were being pushed farther and farther back. Then all of a sudden somebody burst through the front doors yelling, “Angel, I need to talk to you. Did you know that, that, that murderer was released from jail?”

Buffy came inside and looked around at the party confused until her eyes locked with Faith’s.

“B…..” Whispered Faith.

Buffy ignored Faith though, as she sprinted back through the doors.

“BUFFY!” Shouted Faith as she chased after Buffy, with Angel closely behind.

Chapter 2
Faith caught up to Buffy and put her hand on Buffy’s shoulder, calling, “Buffy, hold up!”

Buffy whipped around and punched Faith square in the face. “Do not touch me, Faith,” Buffy sneered. “And you!” Buffy pointed accusingly at Angel. “You knew that she was getting out of jail, and you didn’t even bother to call? Not only that, but you throw her a party!” Tears of anger were threatening to pour down her cheeks.

Faith gingerly rubbed her face as she stood up. “Still got that wicked hook, B.”

“Don’t talk to me,” Buffy’s eyes burned with hatred.

“Buffy, just let me explain,” Faith tried again.

“Not. One. Word. Faith.” Buffy growled. Faith fell back as Buffy cocked her fist. “Angel, explain yourself, and make it quick. I am not in the best of moods. As you can see, I have had a rather bad day.”

Faith was not able to pay attention to Angel when he was explaining Faith’s good behavior, road to redemption, and how she would be a better use to everyone out of jail and not in it to Buffy. All Faith was able to think about was how much disgust she saw in the blonde Slayer’s eyes. Faith had never seen that before, not in Wesley as she tortured him, the other inmates, or even the other Scoobies when they found out about her betrayal. The look that Faith received terrified her. When Faith started listening again, she heard Buffy continuing to yell at Angel. Buffy asked Angel if he was ever going to tell her that he was housing a known murder. And if Giles had not called the jail, she asked, would they have ever been told that she was out? Then Angel reminded Buffy that he himself was also a known murder, and that it was none of their business what he did.

Faith was hurt that Buffy kept talking about her like she was not there. Faith felt her face again, and winced when her hand made contact. She knew at once that she was going to have a black eye, if it was not black already.

“Goodbye, Angel.” Buffy started to storm off, her tirade over.

“Buffy! Please wait!” Faith started to shout at Buffy. Buffy then spun around and punched Faith in the face again.

“God damn!” Faith shouted.

“What did I say, F? Do not talk to me,” Buffy smiled cruelly at Faith and Angel before leaving the hotel grounds.

Angel walked over to Faith and gently took hold of her arm. “Come on, let’s go get some ice,” he said gently.

As Angel and Faith walked back into the Hotel, everybody rushed up to them, curious about what had happened. Cordy was the first one to speak, though, “Oh my God! Faith, what happened to your face?”

Faith just chuckled slightly, a bit dizzy from the blows to the head. “I was reacquainted with Buffy’s fists.”

Angel returned after a few minutes with ice wrapped in a towel and handed it to Faith. “Thanks, man,” Faith said gratefully as she went over to lounge on the couch while Angel brought the others up to speed. Again, Faith was not really paying attention to what was being said, until Angel mentioned something about a ‘Hellgod’. This caused Faith to jump up, almost spilling her ice. “Hellgod? Buffy is facing off with a HELLGOD? How come I did’t hear this before?”

Angel just looked at Faith and smiled slightly, “Well, Faith, you seemed to be a bit preoccupied with moaning about your face.”

Cordy chimed in, as she was never one to miss an opportunity to tease someone, “Awww, poor little Faithy was moaning and groaning about how the big Ol’ mean Buffy hit her?”

Faith felt her face start to warm up. “I was NOT moaning! Plus, she has a mean right hook.” She glared at the girl. “SO, what’s up with this ‘Hell Bitch’?” she asked, changing the subject.

Angel finished explaining what was going on in Sunnydale. Everyone was quiet when he was finished, until Cordy spoke up, “So, this Glory person is looking for the key, which was a magical ball of energy, and if Glory ever gets her grubby little hands on it, she will end the world as we know it, and the Scoobies have this ‘key’?”

“That seems to be it,” Angel nodded in agreement.

After a while, the party resumed like nothing had happened. Faith walked over to Angel, but before she could say anything, Angel looked down at her and said, “I know, just make sure you tell the others.”

Faith just smiled sadly at Angel, and then walked over to the stereo system and turned down the music. After clearing her throat and a moment of peace Faith addressed the people in the room. “Umm, well, I don’t really know what to say except for ‘thank you’. Thank you for everything. You guys gave me forgiveness when I did not expect it. Then, you gave me friendship when I did not expect or deserve it. Thank you all for everything you guys have given me and done. I am sad to say that I need to go back to Sunnydale. I have some lose ties that I need to resolve when I still can try to. But I will NEVER forget anything you guys have done.” By the time Faith was finished, she was starting to choke up. The next hour or so was filled with heartfelt goodbyes and promises to stay in touch. Everyone that had known Faith before was shocked to see her hard exterior come off for those few minutes. Everyone was very supportive of Faith’s choice, though it took a bit of explaining to help Fred understand why Faith wanted to go see the girl who had beaten Faith’s face in.

Angel drove Faith to the bus station and gave her some money to find a place and buy food for a little while, until she could get a job. When they got there, Angel asked Faith one more time if he could drive her up to Sunnydale.

“I am five by five, man. I don’t want to intrude on you anymore; you have already given me too much. Also, Buffy will be mad enough that I will be there. Don’t need to piss her off even more, eh Soul Boy? Hey, Angel… Thank you again for everything you have done.”

“Faith, I will always be here to help you.” This time it was Faith who surprised Angel with a hug. Before they were able to say anything else meaningful, the bus to Sunnydale arrived.

“I guess I will be catching you later, Angel,” Faith waved goodbye as she boarded the bus. She turned back to see Angel disappear off into the distance.
