But that's assuming that the writers integrate Angel's growth & storyline from both AtS and AtF, which a lot of us think that they've ignored for the most part in season 8. And I'm not sure if this season will be any better.
Some of us Angel fans think that they did indeed ignore stuff in season 8. Plus, Joss himself has even admitted that he doesn't "get" Angel. I wish they had had one of the Angel writers/producers involved in the comics (David Greenwalt for example). But I just found this quote that is quite promising from a Q&A with Christos Gage:
Not to argue against myself, but that Cage quote has bothered me for a while. I mean, there's just 4 volumes of ATF. I hope he knows that. Unless he simply mean the entire main series. There's also the fact that Allie said the IDW series count. So all writers should read all canon-ish IDW stories to avoid contradicting the big stuff. Feels like a minimum, so that if they do contradict stuff, they at least know it.
No? They are already ignoring parts of their own comics. Somebody asked Allie recently how come Buffy is not regarded as a terrorist any more, he said that she was never widely known as a terrorist. Then someone pointed out Spike in S8 reading a newspaper with the headline "Buffy Summers terrorist" and Allie said they had forgotten about that and well, it was more convenient for them to sweep all that under the carpet because they wanted a smaller scale story.
Don't get me started on the continuity errors in the comic that was suppose to happen before season 8, pre-slayers-are-hated-times.
Allie said they ignored it on purpose or is that what you assume? Did he just say he forgot? I could fanwank it and say that people forgot about Buffy, and maybe that's what they're going for as well, but you're right, it doesn't sit well. Maybe she'll get recognized in the season 9.
The "raging apocalypse" in S8 somehow allowed Amy to leisurely drink coffee in Venice in the middle of it. The quality of internal consistency is not Joss it seems. The writers will ignore just about anything in order to get from point A to point B.
Not sure I see the problems with Amy. The world might not have been breaking apart everywhere.
And I can't agree on that the writers will ignore everything. Somethings yes, but 5 years on TV and a entire canonized arc? I doubt that.
I can't.
Since the whole "redemption rocks" is nowadays like motto for Joss I can totally see Buffy trusting Angel again. And let's not forget there are many a shipper who want to see that and with Joss pandering left, right and center lately he will probably throw them a bone too, sooner or later.
I guess I misspoke. I mean, the writers obviously won't kill Angel. I didn't even think of that.
So erase that and it'll be;
[quotw]If Giles comes back, and in a good way (I can see Buffy becoming furious and trying to kill Angel if he brings back Giles wrong, or from Heaven, but then being stopped by one of her friends and havung a even harder time getting over what he did in season 8), I can see Buffy forgiving herself and letting go of some of the anger, disgust or whatever she feels, towards Angel.[/quote]
Joss will probably want to give Angel & Buffy some sort of closure before the series ends, that's just good storytelling. But the same kind of trust is very unlikey to be there.

More accurately, Angel was willing to stay in the Twilight universe WITH BUFFY, and watch all of her friends, and all of his own, including his own son, be destroyed along with everything else in the entire universe. And, most likely, he would have done exactly that if Buffy hadn't rejected the entire plan and chose to put the well being of others ahead of her own selfish pleasure. In point of fact, Angel only agreed to rejoin the fight once it became obvious that Buffy was going back.
You're right, I misspoke, not Buffy and her friends, just her friends.
However, I think you're wrong about him knowing the world would end. Was it ever said he knew the world had to die for Twilight to be born?
He said something about not expecting something to happen yet when he saw that Buffy's friends were fighting, and sounding unsure about what was happening(which should have made him rush to earth immediatly to check on his family and friends) but it didn't seem like he knew the world was ending. I actually recall him saying that there would always be fights or something and that they'd survive without him and Buffy.
