I'm trying to NOT read any of the posts on this page, but I was browsing eBay looking for season 8 and I had a question....
1.) Has season 8 been released in it's entirety?
and
2.) If so, how many issues are there?
I kind of want them all here before I start or I may go insane. And to try and avoid that, I figure I should know what I'm looking for first. And before I spend more hours browsing around the web, I figured you guys know EVERYTHING and this could be quicker!

Thanks!

What, are you kidding? It just started a few months ago, and it's a monthly comic.

Seven, so far. Current guesstimates from Dark Horse is that there will be around 40 issues total. That could change up or down, depending on how the storyline goes (more likely up, I'd think.)

Do you think that besides the TPBs by the end of season 8 they will make it an omnibus? I sure hope so.

You mean like once a year, for the three years it takes for Season 8 to complete? That'll be fun. I'll bet they do it too.

There will probably be omnibi collections, special deluxe hardcover editions, etc, etc...

I don't want it once a year if it takes 3 years to complete one season. I want it after the 3 years when the season is complete. This way I can open up the book and read from beginning of season 8 to the end. That will be nice.

Now that would be a mammoth volume. How much content is in one of those Buffy Omnibus volumes? 10-12 issues worth...?

Actually, I just got the Ed Brubaker-penned Captain America Omnibus. I think it's 25 issues long. The thing weighs a ton!

What would that cost for a Buffy 8 omnibus like that, I wonder. Over a hundred bucks, I'll bet. Some would pay it.

40 copys at 5 bucks a copy is 200 bucks though, so you're not really saving, just spreading the cost out.

True enough. I never really thought about how stacked up it would be. I guess I will just settle for the TPB's, which are great of course. I would def pay 200 for it, cause that's just me, but I don't actually think it's a good idea anymore.

like the late great comedian mitch hedberg said, "why do infomercials always have 4 EASY payments to make? i want 3 easy payments and 1 really hard payment."
:lmao:

......of course thats not me. i buy the comics the day they come out!

I find it INCREDIBLE that I'm not that late.
Although, a tad bit bummed because I was kind of hoping to swoop into eBay and get them all and then spend my Christmas "break" in demonic bliss.
Oh well.

So, since I already look like a brainless freak.....
I imagine that, from the context clues, that there are giant Omnibus do-hickeys that I can get already.

So, what is it that I am supposed to go get?
Let's assume that the 7 issues of season 8 are a given.
What other fun things do I need?
Just make me a list...

I'll break it down for you: (to make it easy)

Up till now there are seven issues of Buffy season 8 and they are:

-#1-4 "The Long Way Home" by Joss Whedon

-#5 "The Chain" by Joss Whedon

#6 and 7 "No Future For You" parts 1 and 2 (of 4)

In the following months issues #8 and #9 will be released, this would finish the Faith arc (No Future For You)

Around the same time a TPB collecting the first arc will be released (this is from issue 1 to 5)

Issues #10 and #11 will be standalones (like #5) written by Joss Whedon

Also available are the Buffy Omnibuses which are collections of the previously released non-canon Buffy comics, (this is a series that ran for years and is just considered a companion to the TV show and not an actual part of the Buffy story) volumes 1 and 2 are available right now, they collect the issues in chronological order as oposed to release date...(these have NOTHING to do with Season 8 though)

I would recomend getting the 7 issues of season 8 that are available as well as Fray and Tales of the Slayers which are also written by Joss Whedon, the Omnibus editions I can only recomend if you love Buffy comics...

Oh yeah the "No Future for You" TPB will be relesed next year, and will collect issues 6 to 11.

Is this too complicated?? I just realized it might be a little bit..sorry hope it isn't though 🙂

Edit: It is important to mention that every issue from season 8 has 1 or 2 different covers, these are variant covers, a lot of people get confused with this and think there are more issues.., ore that there is something extra inside, well not really, so only get these if you are a hardcore collector, otherwise make sure yo're buying issues 1 through 4 and not 4 different covers of two issues.
