It was different seeing it in "Time Bomb" than it was in "The Wish" when Angel gets staked (which was the better scene I thought). I was pretty surprised in "Time Bomb", but after a few seconds I stopped buying it. I mean, when Angel, Spike and Wesley all get killed in a span of 15 seconds, you have to know something's up.
Both times though, it was...strange seeing Angel (and then Spike) dusted. I suppose it makes sense, but for whatever reason I always kind of thought it would be more epic, like The Master, when they finally go.
Well The Master was a lot older and probably more powerful than Angel or Spike so his death would be different. It was different seeing it in "Time Bomb" than it was in "The Wish" when Angel gets staked (which was the better scene I thought). I didn't buy Angel's death for a second. This was his show. There's no way they'd kill him off before the end of the season and in a completely anti-climactic way.
Spike, on the other hand...watching it for the first time, I did wonder if it was going to turn out to be Joss' big 'F-YOU' to those network suits who said that they'd only renew Angel if Spike was brought onto the show. Like 'well, you didn't tell me how long he had to stick around for, so...'
And by that stage, I think, they'd known their wasn't going to be a renewal for S6, so, yeah...I did think it was Joss' last big twist.
No such luck, lol.
That would have been a lovely gift to us.
