Series's Biggest Mistake???

That is actually true, even if all the other episodes had sucked, season 6 and 7 would've been worth it just 'cause of OMWF... And getting the ending that is Chosen, 'cause I have realized it is exactly the ending I needed for a show like BtVS.. Not perfect, but a damn good way to say goodbye.Time Bomb said:

I don't think that Seasons 6 and 7 sucked. In fact, I think that those two seasons were great - especially Season 7. Both were a lot more complex than the early years. It was interesting watching Buffy finally developing (even if it was hard for her) into an adult.
Of the early years, I was very impressed by Season 3. I would have been more impressed by Season 2, if the season's main storyline had not seemed so disjointed.

In a way it could be better that I didn't like the final 2 seasons, makes it easier to get over it finishing. I'd go as far as saying I didn't care when it finished.
But with a show like Angel or, even worse, Firefly (until Serenity was announced) it's pretty hard to get over endings, never knowing what would have happened next.

Oh no, I don't don't think they sucked either, I love both those seasons (for very different reasons). I'm just saying that even if they had sucked, it would have been worth it for those two amazing episodes.LadyLavinia said:

Well, as I see it, the Angel season had pretty much none of it. But the season 3 and 5 of Buffy had a lot of it. And with it, I mean something that keeps the whole season together. That is in always every episode. Season 3 has faith from episode 3 and the Mayor more or less from the same episode. And both of them turn up in almost every episode until the end, slowly leading us towards the ending/big finale in that season. In season 5 we've got Dawn, of course, the key. Her story is central in the whol season, and pretty soon we meet Glory as well, and slowly we figure out what it's all about and that slowly leads us to the end/big finale yada yada.
Now you may say that we've got that in every season, and in some way we have, but I like how much it was there in season 3 and 5. And at first you have no idea that Faith will have anything to do with the Big Bad. Just like you don't know what the deal with Dawn is.. But you get clues, and the things are new for that season, and they have a natural place in the show, not just the Big Bad-place.. which I like.
Well okay, what I'm trying to say: The story that follows all through the season, the new things for the season that become important, all through the season...
(Yeah, not sure I explained that that well, damn, heh..)

to be fair, every season of both shows had an arc, but i agree, S3 and S5 of buffy had the biggest arc, meaning the main story started earliest in these seasons.

In season 7 we do see bringers early on, and we see small hints about what's coming and so on. But what I like so much about sesaon 3 and 5 is that the things that are coming, like Faith and Dawn, aren't only there for the main story, or 'cause of what's going to happen in the end. They are really there for a different reason but, they mean oh so much more.. And they're there in almost every episode.. Hm, okay I'm not sure what I'm saying here, it's more a feeling than something I can explain with facts and words.. But there's something, idk..
i think i understand, eponinethen. faith and dawn showed up very early pn, and we didn't know why they were there, but their character and stpry evolved so much that they became the main focus of the season. is that what you're trying to say?
