Should Buffy have been in the finale?

That's something that really annoys me about Bangels, everything has to be about Buffy, even in AtS. Buffy and Angel together at the end would have diminished all that Angel was about the last 5 years. Angel didn't go to LA because he wanted to wait for Buffy to grow up or until she was free from her responsibilities, he wasn't saved in Amends to get a girl, he was saved because he had a purpose, a mission, to redeem his soul, to reach forgiveness, something he needs more than anything.

If anything AtS was supposed to have a REDEMPTION ending and NFA was very close to that. He might not actually have reached it, but by giving up the shanshu he became a selfless warrior for the good cause. All the sacrifices he went through, all the times he got screwed by higher powers ... just for getting a girl? That would have been cheap and cheesy. AtS was dark, it was about sacrifices, the ending was perfect.

All we know is Giles said to Angel that he was sending out his new demon expert or so, do we know that who he is, or does Angel know who he is? Because as far as I remember Angel was surprised to find out that "demon expert" was Andrew. All I am saying is it is possible that Andrew can be tricking Angel to believe that he is the new council guy, thus, in disguise. Maybe he killed the demon expert whom Giles was talking about, and tricked Angel to believe him.

If he wasn't saved to get a girl, why did he try to get Cordelia? If it was all about redeeming, where is Cordelia in this? If it was about redemption, why did he "sacrifice" it by tearing down the prophecy? Wasn't ATS supposed to be about redemption all those five years? What did we viewers have got at the end? Nothing. No redemption. No nothing. It wasn't dark. It was luminous, far too much.

Can you say far fetched. So he was lying about Xander, Willow and the others? Or how did he get that information? And he wasn't really staying with Buffy and Dawn in TGIQ but was there in disguise too? I am sorry but that's grasping straws.

Have you seen the series at all? Cordelia already was part of his mission to redeem himself. Vision Girl .. remember? To deepen their spiritual bond and friendship into a relationship came naturally. Also we don't know if they would have persued a relationship .. we never saw those two together .. except for YW, sort of. In S4 we only see Angel interact with manipulative Jasmine.

He didn't tear down the prophecy by signing it away. He simply realized his redemption isn't dependend on the shanshu prophecy. Btw I am sure you can't sign away a destiny. By signing that document he proved himself more worthy than ever. And in the end you don't always get a shining reward .. even as a viewer. In the end we got a bunch of heros that were willing to give everything to prove that evil doesn't own them. And that's enough for me.
 
I don't think Buffy would have fit in the finale. But it would have been nice to see her a few episodes before. And Faith, too. The unfortunate thing about season 5 is that they barely had time to wrap it up at all, let alone give it a really well planed out send off geared towards the fans.

Although, I've got to be brutally honest, I don't know if SMG would have guest starred. It seems I've read more than a few interviews since Buffy ended where she sort of backhanded Buffy/Angel-and by extension the fans. So she might smile and say that it was bad timing, but I'm not sure if I buy the good intentions.

Oh, and for the record, I love "The Girl in Question," too.
 
I think if they brought Buffy in, like I said, bring her in with some scoobies, and just be like "I heard ya needed help so I brought the reinforcements" have Angel give a smile, and lead everyone in battle.

If handled the right way, having BUffy there wouldnt have effected things that much, she understands that LA is Angels place of working and not hers, so she probably wouldve followed him into battle as a friend and as a warrior, and let Angel be the leader.

We already had Spike there the entire season to change things up, so Buffy wouldnt have made that much of a difference IMO.

But ofcourse I rather have the orignal AngelInvestigations team there along Angels side but that couldnt happen.
 
She shouldnt have been in it. Then it would've been more about Buffy in the finale than the cast of Angel. I liked the finale the was it is and it leaves room for a tv movie or something
 
I thought that she would be so it was a major disappointment for me. I missed the girl 😀 and her gang so at least someone from the core group could have made an appearence. But, well, it didn't happen. 🙁
 
I really feel that the whole Andrew thing needs to be a seperate topic lol!
Andrew said the orders came from Buffy, but Wes said that Giles was sending his best demon expert.I suspect that Andrew threw that in just to make the piont clear that no one trusted him anymore so that tells me he lied about the orders comming from Buffy. Giles might of told him to say that.

So there are condradictions in what Andrew was saying which is not surprising.Or maybe Giles was acting on Buffys orders? Which would explain the contradictions.

So back to topic, Buffy would of made Angel, Buffy the vampire slayer.
It's like galathea said the show is about redemption. NOT Buffy.Buffy was never about redemption.So her persence would of ruined the messege the show finale was trying to tell.
 
Only had a chance to skim the thread, but I was very against Buffy showing up for the finale (had it only been a season finale instead of theseries finale I might have felt differently). I always wished that they would do an arc of a former slayer (possibly Buffy or Faith) being turned into a vampire. Now THAT would have been interesting to deal with.
