Should she have been in the credits?

Yes, I wondered why Aly was too. I read somewhere that when you add the "and" it means that the actor is getting paid less or something like that. I really hope where I read it was bogus though, cause Aly is great.
On the contrary. Adding the "and" means there will have been a pay raise for Aly. AFAIK, every addition to your "pure name" in the titles means more cash for you in TV land. 😉

It's cute that Aly and Alexis both were in 'And' place. Just saying. Wait, there's no 'as Wesley' part!

Amber and Andy should have been in the credits. But it's ok without them, though. Because I love the characters anyway.

Really? That's better to read.

I noticed on 'Defying Gravity' the two female leads, Christina Cox and Laura Harris are the 'Ands' and the end of the list of actors.

Yeah, when they add "and ___ ___ as ___" it means that actor is on a bigger pay. Holly Marie Combs (Piper in 'Charmed') talked about it before.

And yes, I do agree with Amber being in the credits. She was one of the main characters.

titles, the titles, the credits are at the end.

I think as fans we see her as a bigger character than she was, but she should have been in there yep

Sorry to keep this off topic but since it was already mentioned, I have another question about Alyson switching to the end of the title sequence and being credited as "And _ _ as _". Does that also mean she was paid more than all of the others (even SMG) or just that she was paid more than before and just was - so to speak - upgraded to the most important character after Buffy?

I was wondering that too, regarding pay... did she get more than James/Nick/Michelle???

Definetley more than Nick, Michelle, etc. Alyson was a rising (and bigger) star and vital to the show, so when a new season would start & pay negotiations would take place, all of that would be taken into consideration. She had a big fanbase on the show (arguably bigger than Sarah's), and losing Alyson could potentially have lost them a lot of viewers. I'm not saying that would happen, but that's how it all works.

I'm guessing Sarah got the most, with Alyson a close second.

Sarah->Alyson-------->the rest.

Yeah I could see that, I mean Xander was close to being killed so Nick can't negotiate, but Aly is Aly 🙂

I heard SMG and Aly didnt get along so much at the end, pay might have something to do with it.

It doesn't mean she was getting paid more than Sarah. Generally though, the bigger stars of a show are either credited first or last, but if they're scheduled last, they'll get the "and" credit. It doesn't make Aly more important than Sarah or "the star" of the show but it was a definite step up for her. If last were bad, there's no way Anthony Stewart Head would have been credited last for the first five seasons. Interesting sidenote: People always talk about how close Joss and James are and theorize that this is why Spike came back to the show and ended up on Angel but as far as the credits go, James really got the shaft on Buffy. Second to last is essentially the worst place to be credited and even though he was on the show longer, Michelle and Emma both were credited ahead of him.

I hope she wasn't getting more than Nick. But surely she wouldn't get more than James?

I love Spike as much as the next guy, but why wouldn't she be getting more than James? She's a much better known actress, and was on the show longer than him. It's very likely she was paid more.

Good point. Aly is just as famous as Sarah? Cant think of anyone else more famous than those 2.

Thanks for the explanation :)
I have to say I don´t care.. I don´t even watch the credits lol

Which season are you referring to? Because in Angel, I don't think last place in the credits was too good. Wesley was last in s1, but that was because he was not as important as Angel and cordelia yet, just as later in s3 Amy Acker, as the newest and thus most unimportant character, was last in the credits.

In Ats season 5. :) I forgot he's also the last in the first season, but it doesn't look 'last' because there's only 3 main characters in the credits.

No, it's typically the star of the show is first, and the other very famous one has the "And" "As _____ titles.

Wesley got the "And" credit by season four. It didn't say as Wesley, but the previous people to be credited last didn't get the "And" credit.

I always thought she should be in the credits, at least for all of season 6. It was kind of sad that she was only included in Seeing Red in which she was killed.

I liked Riley. And we all know why Joss chose to slap us with the credits/death thing, so it's meaningless to compare the two like that.

Besides, Riley was the significant other of the main character. Tara wasn't.

the 'And ___ ___ as ___' is definitely considered more prestigious then just appearing in the credits in the middle. When Angel first started you have to remember for a very long time they only had 3 then 4 members of the cast so it would have been silly to mess around with the intro credits much.

One of the interesting things to notice however was that in either AtS S3 or 4 Alexis was moved to the 'and' position at the end while Charisma stayed second billing. I have always wondered what that meant, did Alexis get a pay raise over Charisma but they didn't want to ruffle her feathers by dropping her in the billing? Was that fact that was the 'female lead' mean they wanted to keep her towards the front?

Also interesting when Marsters came over in S5 didn't they move him to 2nd position in Charismas old spot? I could be wrong on that. I do seem to remember Alexis keeping the last position which would be interesting, you'd think the 'and' position would have been perfecter for Marsters after showing up in the last season like that and being the 'break out star' of the whole Buffyverse.

The 'and' at the end is the more prestigious position then 2nd billing so the fact that Alexis kept it in S5 shows a lot of respect for him and the Wesley character.
