Shouldnt There Be...

That was TPTB. maybe the PTB made the whole slayer line happen as there was demons on the earth and the PTB couldnt go and help to fight them
 
I missed something. When did they ever say The Powers That Be were responsible for the Amends snow, Whistler, S-7 Joyce, or Angel's return in S-3? I can see Whistler, because he's so Doyleish, but what about the others?
 
It was explained in an Angel ep by Skip that the PTB(or another higher power) are responsible for all of the characters major decisions in life
 
True, but that was Angelcentric, and doesn't Skip later admit to being a liar.
 
yes it ws angelcentric but the PTB doesnt just apply to Angel Inc. Skip admitted to lying,yes but it was when he was telling the truth that he explained about the whole wrong book thing with fred/gunn sister and all the things that the PTB had done
 
Yeah, that's an interesting question. Does the PTB thing apply to Buffy.

I quess the closest reference we ever had to the PTB in Buffy was with Whistler. Whistler was originally supposed to cross over to Angel, but the actor who played him had prior commitments, so we got Doyle on Angel instead.

Even so Whistler's interest was primarily with Angel. I personally get the impression that whatever the PTB's agenda is, it concerns Angel. I don't get the impression they care less about Buffy. We've never seen any evidence of it.

As far as Skip goes, I don't trust him or anything he says. He's an admitted liar, with a pro-evil outlook.

Not just Skip either. Do you remember the dead guy in the elevator from Wolfram & Hart. He says something similar to Angel, about how Angel's fate isn't really his own, and his battle against evil is silly and unnecessary.

I don't believe him. I don't get the impression Angel believes him. Can you trust the words of bad people? If your answer is yes, you want to stay away from used car lots.
 
Lol but Skip was bad yes,but he was also telling the truth as it seemed to be the most reasonale expalintion why all of these things happened
 
Possibly, but I have to point out, the manipulations you speak of weren't on the official agenda of the PTB. That was all Jasmine, wasn't it?
 
Yeah it was but thats what i said in another post about it being another higher power i.e Jasmine
But remeber Angel said that the PTB didnt want to get involved in the whole Jasmine thing so they knew about it and i've completly forgotten what this all started out from lol
 
Oh Yeah...right. I think I remember. It was, "if there was a First Evil on Buffy, was there also a First Good?". I don't know the answer myself, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Jasmine.

I don't know if this counts as "official" continuity or whatever, but in issue #60 of the Buffy comic, Whistler comments
"Ya know, I might be a demon bookie for the Powers That Be, but that don't mean I'm frickin' Encyclopedia Brown over here!"

(On a side note, this Buffy issue rocks! It's part 1 of 4 of a new arc called "A Stake To The Heart" which takes place right before Buffy moves to Sunnydale during her parents' divorce. You should all check it out here!)
