What odd habits and/or rituals are part of your life? Things that you feel forced to do for some OCD reason? Oftimes you really don't want to do it, but you're just...compelled.

As for me:

I vaccuum every day. Even when the carpet is perfectly clean.

If there's even ONE smudge on the mirror, I whip out the Windex and go nuts.

There's a lot more, but its your turn! 🙂

For me, it's 10k steps. I must do 10k steps at least every day. The only days I haven't was when I was ill, my cat died and I got injured and I couldn't walk. Otherwise every day, at least 10k steps.

I've got this really annoying habit, every time I fall out of bed I awake.
Which reminds me I must move that railway sleeper, as every time I fall onto the damned thing it kills me, theoretically.

I can't sleep at night unless every dish in the house has been washed. Also, I pop the toast in the toaster rather than wait for the timer, I pop it like 3 or 4 times and turn it around, upside down and onto the other side for perfect and equal toasting. It's annoying that I can't stop myself from doing it.

What would happen if you got a dishwasher?
When I get up in the morning I have a ritual. If this is broken then I'm lost for the day. I come downstairs, have my meds, make Abbs breakfast then mine... Marmalade on toast and a coffee (but recently its a marmalade sarni because of my teeth)... every morning for the last 8 years.

Can we take turns? I hate washing up with a passion!

Maybe if I could do steps whilst washing up, I'd love it?! 😛

Washing up is about the only thing I do enjoy when it comes to cleaning 🙂 I don't mean to sound flippant about OCD, but I wish I had a touch of it, because I can live in mess quite happily and tend to only clean when I have people coming round. As far as I'm aware, I don't actually have any quirks, which probably makes me quite dull 🙂😉

I have an actual obsession with time and its slippery nature. I don't even know why. I'm constantly checking the time or asking what time it is. For all my important appointments... 🙄
I do mental calculations of how much time I'll need and set alarms. It bothers me so much that when someone holds me up or makes me late I will be irrationally very pissed off. Don't steal my time, maaaaan

My new alarm tells me the hours so I dont have to do the maths now. I love it!
I am so obsessive about watering the garden every morning...if I don't, I get all twitchy. Here's the super crazy part; I've actually done it right after a rain storm.

I'll show you my quark

The only time I get close to this sort of thing is when I'm dealing with a tech problem. If I have some new gadget I'll want to get it set up straight away. When I was having trouble with my laptop I'd stay up to the early hours running scans and then installing a new hard drive.

Aside from that I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. My girlfriend is forever complaining that the curtains aren't open/closed, cushions aren't in the right place, bed is made/folded etc. Things like that I don't even notice.

My weird quirk- Excel spreadsheets are my jam. I was a CFO's secretary in my career past life and learned a lot of those crazy Excel tricks. My fellow counselor friends think I'm crazy because I have a spreadsheet for everything at work.

I have to have all the doors in my house closed. I hate open walkways haha.

Well, as someone diagnosed with actual OCD, my list would go on forever, but I'll mention some highlights.

- I have to count the steps when I walk up and down stairs, and every time I get to eight, I blink my eyes, and then start from one again.
- I have to smoke a cigarette every 45 minutes (35 minutes since I finished my last one)
- When I eat something, I take 3 bites, then a sip of my drink, 3 bites, sip of my drink, and so on.
- I have a very particular way of washing my hands and if I zone out and don't do it...yeah, not good.
- I always have both morning and nightly rituals that have to be in a certain order; go into the bathroom, use the WC, wash my hands, brush my hair, take out my contact lenses, put on my glasses, brush my teeth, leave the bathroom, get undressed (also in a certain order) get into bed, take off my glasses, get comfortable (but my head is not on my pillow yet) check the time on my phone (and set an alarm if I need it) and then lay down my head and close my eyes. My morning ritual is basically the same, only backwards 🙂

I have always gotten a kick out of doing really irrational things. Acting against logic, norms, per pressure, conventional morality, etc. gives me an incredible buzz and sense of self. It is usually very minor, stupid things. Like, when I was a kid, I did not drink carbonated soft drinks, because all the other kids where crazy for them.

Butter has to be spread to all corners of bread, no excuses!
Tea and coffee... milk last!
The only time I drink decaf is if I'm on a bp high....so even at 3am I'll be on normal coffee if I'm up and about... And yes I can just sleep after 10 cups of the stuff, no worries.
My breakfast has changed due to diet but I still have to have it as soon as possible in the morning and I'm NOT a morning person.
