A bit of a stab in the dark here, but is anyone else excited that it starts today?

I know that since the Rugby World Cup there has been a lot more interest in the sport. For those not aware the 6 Nations is an international rugby tournament between Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, France and Italy (there are talks about opening it up).

I've always loved it as Edinburgh takes on a completely different atmosphere when all the nations and their fans come over. There is no problems with fans either, we are not separated and unlike football we get to drink in the stadium.

Today we have France v Italy and then the big one Scotland v England, also known as the Calcutta Cup. I'm heading along to Murrayfield to watch that and am even kilting up.

I'll watch it when I catch it on tv, and tend to support the Welsh. Being half and half I will go for England if they appear to be winning! My step dad is pretty into it though and he's Welsh so if I go over there one weekend I expect it will be on.
 
I would be if I knew a watch to watch it. I think I would quite ENJOY watching it but I dont think its on here.

Wales are expected to well this year. Last year we never won a match 🙁 But our RWC was very encouraging. I go for Scotland and then Ireland.

@Mr. Pole according to the website beIN Sports and Monde5 (though I think that might be French speaking) are showing it. Or you could watch it on the ITB website with some quick fixes.

Come on!! you cannot watch sports over the computer!! has to be on the big screen. I tried the ITB but it would violate the TOC as I live outside of the UK.
 
This is one we sometimes get here so I have enjoyed it in the past 🙂 Though I prefer watching the All Blacks 😀

I saw Scotland v All Blacks last year at Murrayfield in a friendly. Absolutely amazing.
No, can really get into Rugby. I mean I watched the odd match during the World Cup and can enjoy it as a one off, but as a Sport it just doesn't appeal. Enjoy though.
 
I'm not a huge fan but I have watched the occasional match in the past. My ex used to watch the telly and swoon over all those sweaty, beefy men knocking each other around.
As long as England or Ireland win (and France gets thrashed...) I'm happy. 🙂
 
I'm just sitting down to watch the match again as I recorded it. We simply didn't deliver enough.

It hurts to talk today. I can't quite explain the feeling of being in that stadium when our anthem comes on, even when the pipes stop and its just everyone singing. I'm not a flag waving Scot but I do get quite emotional. There was some great fancy dress, boys as Knights, a Darth Vader in suspenders and a basque (very brave as its cold!!) and there was fab banter. I was in front of a bunch of England boys and we had a great laugh. I have never experienced that between rival football teams let alone Scotland v England.

There wasn't much fighting on the pitch which always tends to happen when things are heated, I do want a closer look at that player who shoved we Grieg and got rightfully carded.

Controversially Craig Joubert is back....who is he? He is the ref that glaringly wrongfully awarded Australia a penalty in the RWC and cost Scotland a place in the quarter finals in the dying minutes. After each match the ref shakes hands with the players, it is a mark of respect, even the players hug and shake hands. This match however, as soon as he blew the whistle he absolutely legged it from the field and when the governing body agreed he was wrong he still never apologised.

This ref has now been appointed ref for Wales v England and assistant ref for Scotland v Ireland. Our match is in Dublin which will still be a sell out and he will still get a lot of stick from both sides. Perhaps a good thing he wasn't on home ground yesterday, on the whole fans respect the officials but this man, its probably best he stays out of Edinburgh as there is a lot of anger still from players and fans.

This is true, even myself as a die hard football fan, and being anti-Rugby😉 think its a real shame how serious people take Football and that so often the spirit of the game is lost because of petty idiots. It can learn a lot from supporters of Rugby and other sports for that matter.

Why are you anti rugby? I'm not anti football I used to watch it but lost interest as I got older. They should get Nigel Owens to ref a football match, he has come out with some gems. My fave was where he said the line out was as straight as he was. If you have never seen him before check this out, best in the game and i'm not biased, he's Welsh!

Anti was the wrong word. I just find it a bit boring and unengaging. Also I hate some of the macho cliches surrounding it, and some of the snipes at Football, like how it could learn so much from Rugby etc... I like drama and a Sport which is interesting and exciting to watch, and for me Football for all its negatives gives me that much more than Rugby.

Fair enough, its not for everyone. I wasnt judging I was genuinely interested. It is the opposite for me, I find football boring and the antics of some of the modern players far too diva like that tend to spoil it for the rest. The comparison i've heard the most is that in football you are pretending you are injured and in rugby you are pretending you are not. The macho cliches amuse me as usually they are the softest lads! A friend of mine, her son played for Edinburgh and Scotland and he was a great baker.

I think its like life in general, people need to have more respect for others. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others feel the same. Personally I like contact sports, I wasn't raised in a sporting family and aside from tennis the only other sport I watch now is UFC and local cage fighting and I train myself. So when I see some guy complaining because he got a wee push when I regulary get beaten up I do tend to think he is a bit of a lightweight but thats me.

Its sport, its meant to be enjoyed with friends and family it shouldn't lead to fights and arguments.

Ireland v Wales just now, i'm always torn on this one as Wales have so much heart but i'm half Irish so I have to go with them.

Faithy, I am hating you right about now. Really.
Well we tied, but there was far too many penalties in that game

Yeah I know! I didnt watch much but I could see where, if you were a fan, it could be strenuous. I am neither a fan, nor know what the hell is going on, and found myself invested rather quickly. I could do without all the kicking, but hey, it is kickball afterall.
 
I was mostly just disappointed in them, they can play so much better than they did
