Slayer vs Day Walker

...Um...

How bad is it that I haven't seen Blade and really have no desire to do so? So I'm gonna go with the Buffster on this.

I should give you negative rep - not only have you missed out on a good film but you've passed an opinion on something you have no reason to have - how rude!!!! Happy New Year:)
Although I've never seen Blade I love the concept of the Dhampir, a female warrior (according to the legends of the Dhampir they are always female) born of a Vampire male and Human female. All the strengths of a Human and a Vampire, with none of the weaknesses of the Vampire.

If Buffy came up against Magiere from the Saga of the Noble Dead series she'd be smacked down, sliced up and sent home to Angel as a nicely wrapped platter of cold cuts.

Of course since Dhampirs can't exist in the Buffyverse, we won't see that happening.

Could Conner be a Dhampir?

Finally someone who's read Noble Dead!

Why can't they exist? Did Joss or someone say it? I know they haven't happened yet but thats not to say they won't...I mean if we have Connor anything is possible

According to the Dhampir myth it was rare even for the strongest of Vampires, males who rose in the shortest time after their mortal death and impregnated their wives within two to three days after death, not all of the births worked, and in several cases it killed the Vampire.

The Dhampir is born a girl, stronger than Human or Vampire, no Vampire weaknesses and incredible hunters/warriors. They appear more gaunt and muscular than Humans, always pale and with strangely black or flecked hair.

But in the Buffyverse despite having no circulation, both male and female Vampires have functional reproductive muscles, there is no conception in any case. Darla doesn't quite count as thats an even more impossible event, in no mythology I've ever heard of has there ever been a pregnancy in a female Vampire. But since theres been unprotected sex with Angel and Spike, and Buffy never got pregnant, we can assume they're sterile.

I think Joss has made it clear they can't have children at all, even with Humans.

gotcha
I'm pretty sure that Blade would win. I mean, Buffy's all part of the cool Slayer lineage and stuff but Blade has guns.

If Blade had no guns it'd be a different story -- Buffy'd take care of him. 😀

I've gotta go with Blade, mainly due to his arsenal of silver and UV weapons and the fact that ANYTHING can go in the Marvelverse, where as the Buffyverse has sort of a mythology it follows.

Blade has also been fighting vamps since the 70's and is immune to being turned from the bite of a vampire, something Buffy is not.

Although, even tho he is a Daywalker, he is still sensetive to sunlight, hence he has to wear sunglasses and if you take away his newfound "Gunhand" that S.H.E.I.L.D. gave him during Civil War, I'm sure he'd have way less of an advantage.

But the question is not who would win a fight between Buffy and Blade, but who is the better vamp fighter and on that, I have to go with Buffy. She's dusted tons of vamps, without the help of UV and silver weapons. She's known for being very resourceful with her use of the stake. She is, without a doubt, the better slayer!

Buffy is better, one-on- one than Blade, no doubt. Her fighting style is more efficient, but where she just slays, Blade seems to rain destruction down on vampires in a piecemeal fashion (I'm talking about Wesley Snipes here, I've not read that many of the comics, and the ones that I did read seemed sort of tame compared to the movies). The most vampires I've seen Buffy take out at one time was 6 or 8, whereas Snipes' Blade kills by the housefulls, and it's always BIG houses.

Touche' WA. Wesley Snipes Blade is a total bad a$$!
If Blade is allowed his 'big guns' the Buffy should be allowed hers and we know these include Willow.

All Buffy has to do is use the spell from season 4 and merge then weapons mean nothing so she could kick Blades ass then.

If we take it as only hand to hand, then I think they are evenly matched and the fight would end with either the one having a good day winning or both giving up and realising they are both on the same side and go off together.

I would love a Blade/Faith hook up - that would be awesome.

There's Bad, And Then There's Not So Bad

How bad is it that I haven't seen Blade and really have no desire to do so? So I'm gonna go with the Buffster on this.

Miss K, like you, I would tend to back the quantity that I knew over an unknown. The fact that you have seen none of the Blade movies in no way denies you your opinion. The fact that you have no desire to see the movies is in itself an opinion, and you have obviously stated yours honestly. Thank you for your answer.

(I hope this new year is the best you've ever had and the worst you'll have from now on.

P.S.-Spuffy still rules)

Thanks WA!...Knew you'd have my back:)...I wish the very best for you and yours nxt year!...P.S. Spuffy drools, Bangels Rules ALL!!!
I really liked Blade, in the sense of not. It was good to hear the same words and names though, and a few of the concepts. Made it a bit of a comedy, or is the word farce ?

Okay, putting aside all of the weapons and their respective allies...how would these two fare if engaged in equal hand-to-hand combat?

Let's consider experience. Blade has at least twice the battle experience of a Buffy Summers.
Yes, Buffy has herself come up against some pretty powerful customers (gods, etc.), and emerged victorious. But all of these victories required LOTS of prep time and help from her Scoobs. And let's remember that Buffy has been shown to have difficulty against low-level vamps ("Real Me" and "Fool For Love").

Blade has never had that much difficulty with a "young" vampire, and never would. Blade has also beaten his more up-level opponents (Deacon Frost/La Magra, Nomak) all on his own.

Ok, now I've worked hard on the following research, lol, so please hear me out on these stats..............

BUFFY Versus BLADE

Strength, Durability, Skill, and Speed Levels

Buffy:
It has been said that Buffy Summers is much more powerful than the vamps in the Buffy Jossverse, even the stronger ones such as Angel or even Dracula (both of which are capable of lifting and carrying in excess of 600 pounds).
We have seen her toss full grown adult males across fair distances, including well-trained soldiers in full combat regalia.
We have witnessed her on the construction site quite easily carrying around 8 feet of steel "I" beams which probably each weigh close to 1000lbs.
It took groups of regular construction workers to carry the same types of beam. And again, as I mentioned before, she did this without breaking a sweat. As far as raw physical strength goes, Buffy is probably in at least the 1 ton range.

The Buffaroni has been hit by a cars, been stabbed, fallen off buildings (I think), been thrown through walls, pillars, stone, etc. by her enemies (most notably Glory and Caleb) who also punched and kicked her with their far superior strength, yadda yadda yadda.....and in all cases she has gotten up and walked away from it....any incurred injuries healing up in a day or less.

We have seen her keep brisk pace with moving automobiles and engage in combat in the same way.

As the slayer she has inherited all the abilities of the past Slayers. Potentials who have had very little training magically know how to fight when they become full Slayers. She also has the skill and experience of 7+ years of slaying she has acquired herself.

Blade:
Has the durability of a Vampire, and of course none of the weaknesses. And much like our fave Slayer We have seen him survive getting stabbed, survive great falls, multiple beatings, etc, etc.

Appears to be in the same strength class as the Buffster (but his strength increases with blood). Just watch his battles for examples of this. And for those who've seen the movies, remember the one-handed grab of the fast moving train with another person in tow? The man went from 0 to 60 in mere seconds. That's massive weight/pressure on his arms which he handled well. (Although, It is important to note that this did dislocate his shoulder).

We have seen him tossing around opponents like rag dolls. We've seen him leaping from great heights and land with ease. His reflexes are bullet-level. He has been observed moving at faster than normal speeds (his ground speed is also considerable....most notably while chasing down Dracula/Drake.....and he also fights with great speed. The La Magra battle especially comes to mind).

His bones are stronger than those of a human, although his flesh isn't bulletproof his healing factor can take care of those pesky injuries pretty quickly. And blood, again whether ingested or topically applied, increases his strength and healing factor considerably.

Started his training when he was 13, and he is in his thirties in the films, which means he's had 15+ years of experience/training.

All things considered, Blade would have the edge here.

I appreciate that you have gone to 'great' lengths to formulate this hypothesis but I have to say that it doesn't really give Blade the edge.

The only real differences are Buffy had 7+ years and Blade had 15+ ohh and he's a boy and she's a girl.

Arguably they have both fought demons/entities with the same strength.

The, lets say 7 years, difference is not really an issue. I doubt anyone could argue that Buffy would be ill prepared for any fight on a physical level.

She may have had issue with regular vamps in the passed but a) she learned from them 2) Blade isn't an ordinary Vamp and d) she's been forced, and successfully overcome, every opponent she has fought since.

But all of these victories required LOTS of prep time and help from her Scoobs.

I don't see how prep can be used against her, thats a tactic she has used to aide her. This is a facet of her fighting but even when caught off guard she's been able to hold her own.
Then we have the one fight that matters, the fight against Caleb. She didn't really do much prep for that and she really didn't have the assistance of her 'Scoobs'.

The Scoobies do play a part in her fights, but she has shown time and again that she is just as resilient and strong without them.

Ultimately we also have to take into account that whoever writes it will have some kind of bias.

In a 'real world' situation, I think that it definitely would be a case of neither being successful as they are both good fighters or one of them having a bad day which could be either.

Blade has never had that much difficulty with a "young" vampire, and never would.

Ohh and don't say 'never' because you have no idea what the writers would write and for what reason. This is assumption, thats all.

If they fought on Buffy's show, Buffy would win.

If they fought in one of Blade's movies, or comics, Blade would win. 🙂

lol, nicely put
I'm with OM on this. I'd vote Blade. He definitely appears the more capable of the two. Don't get me wrong, Buffy would be capable of kicking his butt but her fighting skills seem to depend on what mood she's in.

Say they were equally matched in their fighting skills, Buffy points out to Kendra that emotions work in your favor. I don't always agree. She moves off to college and her confidence drops, therefore she lets self doubt in and she gets her butt kicked by the run of the mill vampire. Blade blocks out emotion and works like a well oiled fighting machine. There are no self doubt issues, he goes in, he kills and he doesn't ask questions.

Buffy has a conscience. She cannot kill Ben at the end of Season 5. Blade is not evil, he is a human born to a vampire mother. Enter Buffy's conscience. Blade could and probably would take that moment of self doubt to snap the pretty blond's neck. Blade is a cold SOB, he lets no one in. I wouldn't say he has no conscience, just that he doesn't let it voice its opinion much.

So, I'd conclude Blade the winner 🙂
