Sleep Patterns

Like Revolver, unemployment has really screwed with my sleep schedule. Add to it the time change (from moving right when Daylight Savings Time took effect), and my body is still saying "Schedule? What schedule?" Lately, I sleep in until sometime between 10:30 and noon. My brain is most active in the late afternoon and evening, and then I stay up until 2am or so.

I either sleep too much or not at all. I usually take sleeping pills [over-the-counter stuff from Walgreens] in order to try to sleep at all.

For the most part, my sleep schedule is pretty screwed up. I'll go two days without sleeping and then do nothing BUT sleep for another two. As of late I've been waking up early because Mark leaves for work early, but usually I don't get out of bed until three or four in the afternoon. If I find myself awake when Mark leaves I tend to stay awake all day and pop a few sleeping pills at night to crash.

I'm trying to actually get my sleep schedule sorted, but it's kind of a pain in the ass when I'm used to going to bed at seven or eight in the morning. /me sighs

Happy belated birthday!
My sleeping habits vary quite a lot. I do want to sleep 8 hours but the last year it's been anything from 3, 4 hours to 10. The thing with me is that I have a time at night when I get (very) tired but if I stay up past that I can stay up for a long time. If I get up around 6 in the mornings this time comes around 9 and 10 at night but if I'm up past 11 I rarely go to sleep before 1. Now that I get up a bit later the time I get tired is more around midnight. And lately I have been pretty good at going to bed before/around 1 so most of the times I've fallen asleep pretty fast.

Now with summer and heat coming I'll probably wake up earlier but as long as I have the possibility I take a nap in the middle of the day. How old am I` I do love summernights for many reasons so I like staying up. But not that fun to go to bed at 4 and wake up a few hours later so I try to get to bed anyway.

Wow, I'm like a mutant! I have a clockwork sleeping pattern... to bed in between 9:30 and 10:00 (normally closer to 9:30) and up at 5:30. No snoozing or resetting the alarm. I start getting extremely tired around 8:30ish, so I shower, pick out my clothes, make my lunch and read in bed.

The only thing that changes is whether or not I take a nap. Depends on how much the kids have worn me out.

Saturday is the only day in the week that I can/will sleep in later (usually 8:00) and stay up later (usually 11:00) I know, I'm a rebel.

Once upon a time I was very much a night person, going to bed several hours past midnight and waking up for school at 8-ish. But since I got a 9-5 job again about 2 months ago, I've gone all sensible(!) I'll be in my bed no later than 10:30 pm and lights out before midnight. I then get up between 7:30 and 8. In my school days I'd go crazy on weekends staying up until 3-4 am and sleeping until past noon (once I even slept 18 hours straight, from midnight to six - I was SO confused when I woke up! I have no idea what happened there...). Of course that would screw everything up and I wouldn't be able to fall asleep on Sunday and I'd be tired for school. But now the rule is that I can't sleep past noon on weekends, so I don't screw up my rhytm too much.
However, if I don't have anything to get up for in a while, I'll fall into the 4-5 to early afternoon pattern in no time (I love being awake in the early hours of the morning in the summertime - it's such a magical time of day, what with the birds and the stillness 🙂 )

I am a true lover of sleep, I used to have a 10pm-8am pattern going on, but now that im outta school working, its more of a 12am-9am or 10am. Stupid late shifts at KFC, I feel so much more fatigued during the days now, compared to what I used to be.
