Sleep Patterns

i usualy get atleast 8 hours, but i go to bed anytime between 12 and 4 and get up anytime between 10 and 2

Gosh, I'm almost the complete opposite of everyone else.

My body freaks out if I don't get at least 9 or so hours of sleep at night. I'll get a migraine, I'll be sore, and tired. I won't be able to focus on things and get distracted easily. I'm usually in bed by 10pm everynight, even on the weekends and sleep until 8am, even if I have nothing to be up for. Friday and Saturday mornings are my only difference - I get up at 7:30am for work because we have meetings.

I also can't sleep very well if I don't have a lot of room to stretch out and the weight of like 5 blankets. As a result, my room is more on the frigid side so I don't die of heat. Then I freeze getting ready.

I like my room to be cold, too.
I get around 6 hours a night during the week. For some reason, I CANNOT fall asleep before 10:30-11:00, and, when I do decide to go to bed early (which is surprisingly often), I just lie in bed awake for a long time. I wish that wasn't the case, though...I have a 5:45 wakeup call and it's pretty tough to get my ass out of bed.

Still, the weird thing is, you'd think during the weekend, my body would try and catch up and I'd sleep until noon every day, but it doesn't. On Fridays and Saturdays, I usually go to bed around 1 AM, give or take an hour or two, and wake up no later than 8:30 or 9 without any grogginess. Maybe I just don't need much sleep or something.

I physically can't function if I'm tired, seriously, its crazy. I am also the 'bitch-monster-of-death' when I'm tired and shouldn't be allowed around people!

I don't tend to have a specific bed time but when I'm at uni during the week I'm usually in bed by midnight, and I always try to get at least 8 hours. But my boyfriend comes up later than me and wakes me up (not intentionally) so I always try and compensate for being disturbed 🙂

At weekends and days off I'll be up as late as I can if I don't have anything to do but again will always give myself at least 8 hours. For everyone else's sake as much as my own!

I read in Cosmo that in order to find out how much sleep your body requires, just sleep without an alarm for a week. By the seventh morning, whatever time you wake up that morning, thats how long your body needs to sleep. Like anyone has time to do that...

LOl, really. I WISH I could try that out!
I used to be very much a night person, going to bed anything from 12am - 4am and getting up at 7am for work. I don't know how I functioned back then, because I certainly couldn't now! My sleep patterns are slowly getting back to "normal" now since Abbie is getting older and just about (touch wood) sleeping through the night. Abbie goes to bed around 7pm and I follow at 10-11ish to give her her last feed, she then usually sleeps until 5am, gets fed, and then snoozes in bed with me until around 10am. Bliss!

I don't know how anyone can function on so little sleep (but then who am I to say that!) but I suppose I am lucky that unlike a lot of you, once I get into my bed I'm asleep within 10 minutes. I would hate to be lying there awake.. yikes!

I usually go to bed between Midnight and 02:00, most usually before 01:00, and wake at about 06:00. I don't get up though.

If I'm on my early shift, 08:00 to 16;00, I get up at 07:00, have a quick shower and straight to work.
If I'm on my late, 11:00 to 19:00, I might lie in or I might get up around 08:00 wash and take a while to wake up properly, then spend some time in the fresh air before going to work.

Weekends I go to bed around the same time, or later, and rise at 08:00 or 08:15 and have an hour long shower before getting the newspapers and preparing myself for the weekend boozefest.

It's an official event!

Honest!

Re:

I'm a night owl. I could stay up until 4am every night if my job permitted. So most nights I force myself to bed at around midnight, but my sleep patterns are irregular. Sometimes the alarm wakes me and sometimes I wake before the alarm. I toss and turn most nights I think I wake up at least 15 times a night. I've taken sleeping pills to try and get a good nights sleep before...they don't do piss. *shrug* Alcohol seems to make for a good nights sleep though!

Sleeping pills are crap - try antipsychotics :p But alcohol works too, just costs a shitload!

Yep, glass of wine is my cure-all if I just can't get tired :)
Alcohol has the opposite effect on me. Tho it makes me feel tired, I don't sleep as well when I've been drinking.

Im another night owl, I function better at night, usually have my better ideas and get really motivated at night, and find it hard to sleep till at the earliest 2am.

I suck at getting to sleep, I will go to bed, but I'll have to do something like watch DVD's till I get tired then switch it off and got to sleep!

the amount of sleep I get a night is random, and changes on the weekend. Last night I got home at 7, fell asleep at 7:30, slept till 12am, and was then up till 6am, then back to sleep till 4pm. Usually do that on the weekend and catch up on all the spare hours of sleep I missed!

All you americans have got me into a weird sleep pattern. It was awful when I had uni, I had to get up at around 6 am and sometimes you'd have me up till 2 or 3...

I'm definitely not a morning person though. I can usually get up if I have to, and I normally wake up when I need to, but I'm not happy about it. I tend to function best at around 8 pm, actually!

Can't blame US! You don't even play in the IRC with us unless it's a blue moon!
lmao, i stay up at least until 3 on a school night, then im up for 8am, then when i get home im so tired , and fall asleep on my couche at 4. then wakeup at 5, then im up all night,
i have really weird hours, since ive been off for the easter hols, ive been going to my bed at like 6 or 7 am every night, then wake up at 11 am
ha, i dont think theres enough hours in a day.
i really dont get enough hours, ha,

I have a couple of issues with sleeping. On the one hand I am and always will be a night person. Even when I was little I really couldn't sleep before 12am. On the other hand, I do need a lot of sleep. When I don't have to get up I can easily sleep till 3pm, no matter what time I went to bed. Unfortunately, the being a night person needing a lot of sleep isn't really compatible with the kind of society we live in so I usually end up getting 3, 4 maybe 6 hours of sleep a night. It makes me feel tired which leads to me drinking far too much energy drink, so I go to bed even later etc, etc. And because I'm tired I also manage to sleep through my alarm on a regular basis.

stupid, inflexible society! *hugs*
I think I run on a 7 day schedule and not a 24 hour one.
USUALLY, I like to go to bed about 2 or 3 am and get up around 11. Granted, this doesn't work well because the kids are too good at getting me up for one reason or another for school. Luckily, I can fall back asleep VERY quickly and I often wonder if I was ever really awake at all since it seems like a dream later.

But, I am TERRIBLE at going to sleep and sometimes I have to take sleeping pills. Many times I'll just lay there, watching crap on TV or thinking. I think WAY too much when I'm supposed to be sleeping. My medication helps a bit, but not enough.

Hubby can just look at something he can lay on and pass out. Drives me up the wall because I can't do that even when I'm totally exhausted.

On the weekends, though, I could sleep the whole time. Oddly, Spongebob seems to just knock me out cold. It's weird.
It also seems to run straight with what's on tv. When I have tons of things I want to watch, I'm too tired to move at night. When there is NOTHING on TV that I might even remotely want to see, I can't seem to sleep to save my soul.

I also need noise to sleep. If it's quiet, my brain certainly won't shut off. The TV at least kinda gives my head something to concentrate on (while facing the other way with my head under a pillow) so that my brain doesn't keep me up all night.

But, it doesn't seem to matter much how MUCH sleep I get, my body does NOT like being up much earlier than 10-11 am. I could go to sleep at 8 pm and unless there is a reason, my body will just NOT get up after a certain amount of time. I'll end up sleeping for 14 hours or more if I have to.

Right now, I have to get hubby at the airport at about midnight and although I SHOULD have tons of energy, I don't. I want to go to sleep, but I'm sure I'd sleep straight through the airport until tomorrow morning. It's nuts.

Spongebob knocking you out cold is just a defense mechanism of your brain so you don't have to watch that #$§% show! lol
Usually I can't get to bed until midnight, and then I have to wake up at 6 every morning.

It's not good; I'm ALWAYS tired.

What's sleep? No, really, I have to get up at at least 7:30 on weekdays, and somtimes I can't get to sleep till 1:00 - 3:30. I'm not good with sleep patterns

I like your banner!
I have to have some sort of "white noise" in the room, too. I run a fan in my room 24/7 or else I can't go to sleep. When the hubby's snoring too loud, I can't go to sleep either, so then I get up and lay on the couch, but sans fan makes for being awake at all hours watching infomercials. I really like that ShamWOW guy, even tho I hear he's kind of a jerk!

I've got a white noise machine, its heaven!
Latley I've been going to sleep later, I think its the holidays screwing with my sleep patterns. But I don't feel tired now before 2am then i go to bed. I can get to sleep pretty fast, then now i'm back at college I get up at 7am. Strangely I'm only tired for the fist 30mins of the day. Its become almost like a challenge with myself, its like how long can you hold out?

I usually go to bed around midnight (unless meanies keep me up!) and I never have any trouble sleeping. When I have long holidays my sleep cycle goes all weird though. I start staying up until like 4 am! (sw)

For 2 or 3 days i usually stay up till about 3-4am ish....but after that i get far too tired and end up going to sleep at around 7pm 😛

I fell asleep in P.E yesterday though....it was football and i was the only one trying (except for Bob)...so i gave up...and went and sunbathed...it was a really Hot day...which i didn't think was possible in Aberdeen...wierd...anyhoo as i was sunbathing i sort of dozed off...until i got a bump on the head....which i'm pretty sure was Bob..evil child.
