Sarah Michelle Gellar is reportedly in talks to reprise her role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer - for a movie.

The 31-year-old actress ended her role as Buffy in 2003 after a six-year run.

Now the feisty character could be making a return on the big screen.

An insider says, "There is an idea for a script and to pick the story up with Buffy older and maybe even a mother.

"Michelle is busy with movie projects at the moment but she is excited about the idea. Buffy still has a huge fan-base so this is a movie that already has an audience.

"Michelle is a shrewd businesswoman so the chances are this will happen at some point."

Ah! i just read this omgomgomg!!
Meh,take it with a grain of salt. I have doubts about this. Why did the insider use her middle name? If Joss says something is happening then I might believe it. Maybe a horribly late April Fools.

That's what I think. Can people PLEASE stop doing April Fools jokes about a Buffy movie! it's really cruel :(
Despite the fact that Sarah's big screen career to date has been far, far less than stellar I really don't think that she is desperate enough YET to consider a Buffy reprisal. Plus, I have serious doubts that all of the others could be brought back together to do it, and the essence of the series wasn't JUST Buffy, it was Buffy and all of her friends, and family.

As much as I would love to see it happen, I'm not going to pin all of my hopes on it. There will almost certainly be another series or movie based on the Buffy mythos someday, but the odds of it involving the original stars are just too great.

Would it really be that hard to gather them all?
Cause I can see these people coming back.

Nicholas- He loves being Xander and he doesn't really have anything to do.

Alyson- I'm sure she can pull strings on scheduling for HIMYM.

Anthony- Maybe he can IDK.

Michelle- Not too sure cause her Gossip Girl.

Eliza- If she's not doing anything.

And Sarah well IDK about her sometimes I think she seems stuck-up and doesn't want to do anything Buffy related.

It MIGHT could be done, and all of the original cast MIGHT be available when Joss and Sarah get ready to begin, but I still say, the odds are against it.

I agree on SMG being stuck up...I love Buffy...But I am not a fan of Sara at all.
Eliza might not, but character wouldn't really be an essential one for the movie. She wasn't in most of the episodes, after all. James and David, if they haven't already aged too much, certainly would be too old to reprise their ageless vampire characters soon. Michelle is just a guest star on Gossip Girl, right? I don't see why that would prevent her from doing the movie. Nick hasn't been doing anything. I think he'd jump at the chance. I'm not sure about Anthony. I think his only issue doing the show was that it kept him away from home too much, so I think he might be willing to do it. He's an excellent actor though, so I'm not sure he needs to by any needs for the sake of his career. Alyson has had a fair amount of non-Buffy successes. I'm not sure what that would mean since on the one hand, she doesn't need the work, but on the other hand, Buffy hasn't really gotten her stuck in a niche she can't get out of either. Who else would they get? Charisma and Emma's characters are dead, but given this is the Buffyverse, some kind of cameo from one of them isn't completely impossible. Andrew would almost certainly be in the movie, since Joss and crew seemed to like him, and really, what else has Tom Lenk got going on?

Tom's just doing commercials. Felicia probably could come back and maybe the actress who played Kennedy could to.
If it did happen, I'd imagine FOX or whoever the distributor would be, would heavily push for Boreanaz to reprise his role as Angel to squeeze as much character star power into the movie as possible.

Personally, I'd be disappointed with anything less than a trilogy if they did do this since how much can a single movie really add to the mythology of a 250+ episode franchise?

re: Alyson
She actually did pull some HIMYM strings recently, so to speak. She and Colby's pregnancies forced the show to shoot episodes out of season to accommodate them. They're now starting shooting in the summer which is apparently unheard of for this type of show. Don't know if she'd want to delay shooting again so soon.

My ideal would be them just not dealing with the comics and going straight to the end, the final apocalypse referenced in Fray. With a trilogy, each movie being 3 hours (9hrs total) and incorporating everyone.

Buffy
Angel
Spike
Willow
Xander
Gunn
Connor
Dawn
Giles
Ghost Wes
Ghost Cordy

Faith & Andrew would be great too, and 9hrs could certainly give them all plenty of screen time.

Buffyverse that is exactly what I have been saying about a Buffy movie years. We can live in hope lol.

Ok let's suspend belief for minute and pretend that we know this real. It says it will be an older Buffy, like the older Buffy of season 9?0

Why just that far? If Buffy, or anyone else, for that matter, is going to be a parent, why not be the parent of a child, say, ten or twelve? We've already done infant and teen in Angel. That would easier to explain the aging of some of them (Spike in particular, if he had somehow become mortal in the interim, but even Sarah is beginning to show her maturity)?

For a start, I don't think 'Michelle' would be 'excited' because she's never shown that level of interest in a movie.

Secondly, I think that this is probably a Fools day joke on one site that has chinese whispered its way to other forums and news channels.

Well I didn't actually say it was an infant. I said the unspecified season 9. All we know about that is it will be years after season
8. That could be 5, it could be 20.

No more than a month or so ago, Joss said flat-out that there will NOT be a Buffy movie in the forseeable future.

This rumor pops up regularly, is always reported by some obscure tabloid site with a conveniently unnamed "insider" as the only source, and is always false.

An insider says, "There is an idea for a script and to pick the story up with Buffy older and maybe even a mother.

"I know there is such an idea, because I just had it," clarified the insider.

There were zero studios interested in doing a Buffy movie before. There would be less than zero interested in doing one with this premise.

"Michelle is busy with movie projects at the moment but she is excited about the idea. Buffy still has a huge fan-base so this is a movie that already has an audience.

Who's "Michelle?" Sarah has never, ever been "excited" about the idea of a Buffy movie... "vaguely receptive" maybe. And as much as we love it, Buffy does not have a "huge" fan base. It averaged about 5 million viewers on a minor network. It has a healthy and devoted fan base that isn't big enough to make a theatrical movie release viable.

"Michelle is a shrewd businesswoman so the chances are this will happen at some point."

"Michelle" is a shewd enough businesswoman to recognize this isn't going to happen.

Erm, I don't know which further gives away the article's shamminess...the fact that they keep referring to Sarah as "Michelle" or the fact that they said Buffy might be a mother in the movie.

As much as I'd like to see a movie, I don't see it happening...at least not for many more years. I won't believe it's happening until I'm watching the trailer.

I really don't see this happening. If they were gonna do a movie, they should have done it before the comics. Not after.

I just assume he was suddenly talking about Michelle Trachtenberg, which made absolutely no sense ! =D
I don't believe it, I believe Joss when he says that they need finances first.

sarah michelle Gellar is too stubborn,

and there is less of a chance that Alyson Hannigan is going to do anything, as she is expecting a baby,
theyre all getting too old, ha

I understood what you meant, I was just trying to come up with a way that we could keep the Season 8 comics as canon, rather than have Joss toss the whole thing out the window or do another do-over like he's done with Angel.

See, I've got this Irish buddy who once said that she would be really mad if Joss did anything like that, and it's gonna be bad enough for her that Spike is the father of Buffy's baby. Having both things thrown into her face would most certainly break her poor little Bangel heart.

Seriously I don't think there's ever going to be a movie, I doon't think SMG will ever return tot he roll she's to "proud". But if there is a movie I'll eat my own eye in shock.

Well you know you take what you can get, when you can get it. Joss couldnt get a movie back then but he may be able to now.

I dont think this is true since the article is just to weird. Why keep calling her Michelle? And Joss make Buffy a mother? I dont see that happening anytime soon, espically if it were to be a big screen movie.

And it is not like SMG has ever flat out stated that she would never return to the role. She has always stuck to "if the script is good enough then sure"
