In the first season of Buffy; Charisma was 26 years old, hard to believe it! She was David's age in Angel Season 3.

She's aging gracefully

She totally looked her age on Buffy haha my friend and I always laugh at how ridiculous it is...especially in The Wish when she's wearing that red leather outfit. I know that Alyson is much older than she looks in the early seasons, but I totally bought that she was in high school. When I was younger all teenagers looked super old to me, but as soon as I hit 8th grade I remember thinking, "Whoa...real teenagers do not look like that." It was pretty common then to have older people playing younger roles, nowadays they tend to have actual teenagers play those parts.

I don't think it was hard to believe that she was in her 20's.... Charisma never looked like a high school student on BtVS. That's why I think she fit so much better into "Angel"; her character was much more believable as an adult.

I always thought she looked her age. I never thought she or any of the cast really for that matter looked like teenagers, I mean when I was younger I thought that's what teenagers looked like but when I was one I was like "ok you can tell their totally not teenagers." But they played teens well none the less.

I think next to everyone else, Charisma totally looked like a high school student. But of course, plop her into a REAL high school with REAL teenagers and I'm sure she'd be mistaken for a teacher or something. 😛

Funny you bring that up... Did you know that Robia La Morte (Jenny) and Charisma were around the same age?? Kinda makes it seem a little weird that Jenny and Giles hooked up, knowing that. LOL

Wow, really?? I never knew that, that's actually quite uh... disturbing.

Ah i didnt know this, i thought she looked fine as a high school student. maybe because she wore more mature outifts and wore makeup because thats the type of girl she was so for me i didnt think about her real age. Thanks for posting interesting facts 🙂

I thought Charisma was only 18 or 19 before i looked up her actual age a few years back and she's in her 40's now and she's still hot 😎

I thought she was a bit older in S1, but I had no idea she was 26. If I had to guess, I would have said 21 or 22 probably. And to think that she's in her 40's today? Well, she doesn't look it. She still looks great.

That's something that I find really interesting. I love seeing actors portray different things, and the fact that these two women were the same age and playing different ages/roles on the show is a little bit fascinating. I figured Jenny was supposed to be in her early-mid thirties, and I was a bit surprised to see that Robia was younger than that. Charisma always looked older to me, but not THAT much older.

It's just cool that two actresses the same age would be playing two characters who are meant to be ~15 years apart in age. Acting! 😀

Jenny was how old? hooking up with Giles? The old phrase comes to mind, there's life in the old dog yet.

I wonder what the actresses themselves thought, both the same age, one plays a younger person, one plays an older person.

Giles was only in his early forties ("old" jokes from the kids aside), so if Jenny was meant to be in her early-mid thirties (I don't know that she was, that's just what I assumed), there was an age gap of ten years or less. That's a pretty common thing, really.

In real life the actors were about 16 years apart in age, I think, which is still definitely not unheard of. *shrug*

I'll take that as a compliment, regardless if it was intended or not. Giles (Tony Head) is a few months younger than me (and I'm 57, almost)

Another old lady liking your post! ;)
I think it was fine, the way she looked... but if they'd just dressed her a little differently it probably would have worked better. But still, she's stunning. So naturally beautiful. Can you believe that Charisma and Robia LaMorte (Jenny Calendar) are the same age? LOL considering that Robia played Charisma's teacher...

I've never understood why everyone made Cordelia out to be this gorgeous girl, I mean I think she's very average, she ain't ugly, but she's not that pretty either, I never understood how she got that role ..

Charisma got the role because they didn't think she was right for the role of Buffy Summers. They thought Charisma was suited for Cordelia

:( and I hate Riley :P jk but really I did haha
WOW, I did not know this!!! I guess you really DO learn something new everyday 🙂

She does NOT look 26 at all in S1 & she never looks older than 25 throughout Buffy & Angel IMO. She's gorgeous & has great skin. *jealous*

She was mistaken for a teacher by Wesley when he first met her in the school library.

It sort of brings back memories of Beverly Hills 90210 where it looked like the actors were going to be in high school until they started collecting their old age pensions. When you have a successful series that runs for ages, this kind of problem will occur. When it got ridiculous, they graduated and went to college. I believe the labour laws regarding child actors (limitations on allowable working time per day) force producers to cast adults as high school students.

Willow was totally believable as a high school student.

Maybe Charisma is a real vampire; she doesn't appear to be getting any older.
