So who else can't wait for Arrow?

Did anyone see the last episode, from Wednesday? I just watched it now on PVR, and it might have been the best one yet. Seeing Deathstroke live on screen was incredible, and it was nice seeing him actually done well, because he's the type of super-villain who could have come across as really lame in the wrong hands. That really happened with Deadshot on Smallville. Loved Slade catching that arrow though, awesome spot.

And it's funny. For a "superhero show", Green Arrow in costume wasn't even in the episode until the very end. It was all Oliver up until that point. Just reinforces what I've been saying that the guy is carrying the show far more than the attraction of seeing a superhero.

took me a moment to make the connection between the 2 after I read your post. hey were so different and yeah, Deadshot was kinda lame in Smallville...

Can I just say again how much I love this show? apart from Glee, it's the show I mostly look forward to each week. I already see a need to buy the DVD when the season's over!!

Another awesome episode.

Did anyone else catch all the DC references so far, especially the different cities? Bludhaven, Coast City, Keystone City. And they made a Superman reference as well this week. All of those are related to the Justice League.

I think that DC is very cautiously working up to some version of a Justice League movie or TV miniseries, but they either don't have or aren't at the present time willing to risk the kind of money that doing a movie like that properly would cost. Plus, I think that they want to avoid any sort of JLA project being an Avengers knock off, which is weird, since the JLA's predecessor, the Justice Society of America, dates back to the 40's, and the JLA itself premiered in the late 50's, long before Marvel even got into the superhero business.

What was the Superman reference? As for this week's episode, I really enjoyed it. I like that Oliver has Digs to bounce his thoughts off of so we don't have to deal with the voiceover anymore. I also liked his little speech about street crime being only a symptom of what's wrong with Star City. It fits his leftists worldview very well and I'm glad they brought that over from the comics. One thing I do want to know though, who does Laura work for? Is she an attorney for the city or does she work at a legal clinic? Also I'm really glad Tom Merrlin didn't sleep with Thea, I mean she's way better looking than Laura, but given their relationship it would have made him seem like a complete jerk.

Maybe I read into it more than I should have, but when Oliver breaks into the police department the two cops on duty talk about reports of a "guy in a red cape" in some other city. I thought they meant Superman (Smallville used to make references like that all the time)

Having Digs is a big plus. My one big complaint with the series up until this point was that Oliver's narration was pretty cheesy. It was an interesting conversation, with Oliver debating about the symptoms of crime. However, I liked that they didn't just excuse the bank robbers. Everyone has crap to deal with in their own lives. That's not an excuse to take what isn't yours and shoot people. The scene where Oliver gives him a choice to wipe the slate clean was very cool.

Yeah, not sleeping with Thea was a good move. Jeez though, Thea? Wow 😀

Thea is just so damn hot ARghhhh!!!! lol. But i suppose young on the show plus he has known her her whole life probably. Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is smoking hot too.
I'm enjoying Arrow very much! I'm watching it with the kids and it's a bit dark for them although they're not complaining (it leads to interesting conversations with the 11 year old who is catching on that not everything Oliver is doing is OK, but maybe he's doing it out of neccessity, because it's the only way he can make a difference). I have never seen Smallville and hate to admit that I don't know that much about the DC world (I'm more of a Marvel girl myself). But it's making me want to know more! I love the flashbacks- did you see how the words appeared in that book after he puts it over the fire?! Freaky! And loved the John Barrowman appearance- and he didn't overact! Good job, Capt Jack! 😉

I know I say this like, every week, but Wednesday's was another great episode.

Did anyone notice Paul Ballard from Dollhouse on the last episode?

Yes!! Tahmoh Penikett + John Barrowman- I thought I was going to die! Too bad they killed Tahmoh's character off (just like in Castle). It's alright, I'm doing a BSG rewatch. 😉

So perhaps i'm the only one that isn't won over yet? I'm really struggling to like this. I want to like it, I really do but it has yet to cross the line between something that is on in the background while i'm doing stuff online to a show that I have to sit and watch and do nothing else.
