Some new hints about Twilight (spoilers?)

Georges Jeanty did a Q&A on another board, and dropped a couple of small clues about the identity of Twilight...

1. It's somebody we know. (So not a stranger or a stand-in, and not the Immortal).

2. He indicated he hasn't been asked to draw Angel or Spike yet, and had no personal knowledge yet about their appearances in season 8... so unless he's being very crafty, Twilight is not Angel or Spike.

3. He said that he only submitted 2 Twilight character designs to Joss before he got approval, and that "considering who he's revealed to be", he's surprised the design process didn't go on for months.

4. He hinted that Twilight's identity will be revealed soonish.

ok so here is my veiws on twilight... bear with me im new to this

twilight is angel/angelous in some way shape or forum. im not sure how they will bring it all together but im sure it will lead to buffy feeling beytrayed until she finds out that its either not truly angel but instead angelous somehow (but im not sure what the purpose of angelous destorying buffys world would be because we have done explored that with season 2) or that its angel and his soul purpose is to ride the world of everything preventing him and buffy from being together. thats what it will all come down to some how, some way, the reason for all of this is so buffy and angel could be together. tho they may still realize that untilmately they cant. if we could figure out how the time line is working excatly from the end of season 5 of angel and buffy season 7 things might make a little bit more sense but i think we are ment to be confused on all of this bc finding out angel aftermath is after season 8 could ruin any plans they have with angel in this season and maybe the next.... so i think we aren't ment to know how everything is gonna play out yet. but it will.... and the biggest shock to everyone will be when buffy again has to chose her calling over love.

So what you're saying is that Joss and co are just going to make season 8 a cliched rehash of Buffy season 2?

I don't think it's Angel, for one reason, they don't have the rights and it takes a lot of work to do crossovers that way so making him pivital is too hard. Some were suggesting Giles, but I don't know, he was behind her decision before. Not to mention I have difficulty believing it's any of the core people because I don't like that they'd do that...

They do have the rights to use Angel actualy

Not only that, he passionately tried to persuade Buffy to hang onto Riley.

Plus how gutted did Xander look (for Riley I guess) at the end of The Replacement when he said 'but she doesn't love me?'

I really cannot begin to formulate an idea of who Twilight might be. Will be gutted if it's Giles. I'm racking my brains for someone but nothing is coming up!

Also, I can't remember who said it but why does it have to be someone who was there with the 'preacher julienne' scene? Sorry if it's mentioned in the comics, I only keep up with summaries on the net - I suck, I know 🙂

The comic's editor, Scott Allie, says the identity of Twilight is not something we can figure out by gathering clues. They haven't put enough clues into the comic that we could get his identity through deduction. If we get it right, it will be because of a lucky guess.

But Georges Jeanty (the artist) has indicated it's a male, and it's somebody we know.

Source?
Since it's an established male character, there's really only a handful of candidates, because if it were someone obscure it would be anticlimactic.

Clem Rocks agrees: Source?

from a Q&A on another board (and it was my question, so I'm gonna go ahead and repost it here):

AndrewCrossett: Do you find it difficult to talk about season 8 considering you always have to be careful not to accidentally reveal too much about secrets (e.g. who is Twilight, who betrays Buffy, who lives and dies, etc.)?

Georges: I have to be careful with every interview I do with not releasing too much about Season 8 Twilight is a big one, but seriously, I wouldn't want to know who he is. This is what makes the series so much fun. Speculation can be infectious and it inspires debate which is great! If I wasn't the artist on the book I wouldn't want to know. I can say it's someone you know... Doesn't help, does it? The funny thing is the whole Twilight speculation is taking attention away from like 2 or 3 other revelations that are in store in the book. All I can tell you for sure is to read every single issue. Once Jane Espenson comes back, the story really starts taking off at a break neck speed. Oz is just one of the treats in store for you!

Twilight: Who is this guy?

New to the site but love the mystery behind Twilight. I just wanted to to state somethings 'cause I am dying to talk about this comic book with some people who like Joss and buffy.

1. Who is the traitor? Is it Riley or is it Willow. Riley clearly is working for the government which has always been "evil." It also seems like Willow had a part in the whole "end of magic" battle. I think she started off on the good side but turned nuts after the battle. Probably because Kennedy got killed but aren't we kinda over Willow Schitzing out over dead girlfriends. So played out. I think the real traitor is going to be Andrew. Reason will be explained below.

2. Twilight? Who is this guy? My theory is that he's a clone of buffy. The Monks made dawn out of Buffy's blood through magic. Why couldn't the army genetically clone a male Buffy using both magic and science. I think Anya stated in season 3 that science and magic intertwine. Twilight didn't necesarily have to be at the fight between Caleb and Buffy. He could have seen it in his dreams. He could have seen it through a crystal ball. So many possibilities. But Spike and Angel are out of the question. Also, we all know that men can't be slayers. A girl has to be mystically chosen. What if the male clone of Buffy, was vamped by the government probably by drusilla,(always happy to include her in the story) given a soul 'cause Amy is a very capable witch, and given a magical boost like Giles in the season 6 finale to become the ultimate warrior for what the government thinks is right. This could also explain why Twilight is covered up all the time.

OR

My other theory is that instead of being vamped, Buffy's clone is imbued with the essence of a demon like the shadow men did to the first slayer. Amy is strong maybe not as strong as Willow but her magic seems to be strong. And we never really find out what sort of demon was used as the source of the slayer power. And who in the Buffy verse is well versed in demonology? ANDREW. Warren could totally be using Andrew as his butt monkey again and we know Andrew had a weird gay thing for Warren. The demon essence they used could totally be the essence of a flying demon which explains why Twilight is not only strong but can fly too. Why not create a male slayer that the government has mind warped into this super slayer machine.

They have always wanted to harness the power of the supernatural and they especially have always wanted to manipulate Buffy except her will was too strong. The solution make another Buffy but this time make it a man. We all know Joss loves the paradox of what it means to be man and woman and let's face it. Buffy and twilight want the same thing in the end. They just have different methods.

OR

And this is my last theory and it goes back to the season 4. Remember when the scoobies did that enjoining spell. They not only called upon the first slayer but they also merged. What if the consequences of that was that a being was created. Remember in season 6 when after Buffy was resurrected, the spell cause another being to come into the real world. Same principle. A strong spell was done, a being was created. And this brings me to the duster that twilight is wearing. In that season 4 finale when they were doing the enjoining spell, Spike was there too. What if part of spike also got mixed into the spell and the new being. This could very well explain why the being likes to wear dusters. The government got wind that a super strong weirdo is causing mischief and they take him, and train him to be their own warrior. For all we really know, Twilight could have existed since the end of season 4 all the way through to 7 and is only now making himself known, And seriously, you think with powerful buffy around, you think the government was racking their brains how to get her power or use her power for their own benefit? It's the government.

Some food for thought.

Erm, what?
This makes absolutely no sense - can you give your reasons as to how you came to this wild conclusion.

No, just no!
Naughty imsped!

Some food for thought.

Normally after food I feel nourished, not depleted!

Just some ideas.

An interesting tidbit that I found, if anyone has read the latest issue or read the summary at wikipedia, the ragnor demon that Buffy and Andrew go to fight in Italy was actually a genetically CLONED one by none other than ANDREW!!!!!! Holy moley. When I read this, I nearly pooped myself. Not only was this subject of my post but it confirms that even though Andrew is becoming more apart of the scoobies, he still withheld truths from them and there is that lingering doubt if Andrew can truly avoid the dark side 'cause he always wanted to be bad. And again CLONING, POOP, ME, PANTS.

So what you're saying is that Joss and co are just going to make season 8 a cliched rehash of Buffy season 2?

That is not gonna happen especially when Joss stated in interviews that he had planned for Angel and Fred to get together at the end.

Do you have a source for that? I have never heard that rumour before.

Source for what? The demon cloning thing? You can read the summary on Wikipedia. I read the summaries and read every issue so far and who ever is writing the wiki entries are good summarizers.

No...what Joss apparently said about Angel and Fred.

Have you been on the wacky backy?

What does my comment that is deriding someone elses comment, and in no way meant to be what is actually happening, have to do with Angel and Fred and an entirely different Comic set in a different time frame made by a different publisher and different writers?

I think it's Hank or Ethan, after Georges' comments that he was surprised it took so little time to draw the guy in question I'm gonna go with Hank. Georges has drawn Ethan before so he wouldn't be surprised Whedon was fine with his work if he asked to draw him again.

Whedon already name dropped Hank earlier this year in regards to where a lot of Buffy's issues stem from, the same way Riley was inexplicably name-dropped in 'Anywhere But Here' which later turned out to be a hint he was going to appear in 'Time of Your Life.'

Hank could fit the "closest, most unexpected" even if Buffy and Hank haven't been tight for years, it'd still make her bawl her eyes out and they could develop a great story behind it to flesh out where Hank has been all this time. I also wouldn't mind seeing Hank get some development and I think it'd be pretty epic.

It'd also somewhat fit the "I hate to see you cry" line.

No...what Joss apparently said about Angel and Fred.

Oh I read it in an interview years ago by either Joss himself or Tim Minear.

i was responding to the quote you were deriding. I quoted you by accident. Angel's not playing a big part in the Buffy Comic. And Sidebar, can you lighten up?

My stars, you join a board, post a comment that no one has heard of, without sourcing it, quote someone that bears no relation to the comment you're replying to then seem to get shirty because you're called on it.

Don't tell me to lighten up, how about you try post coherently and accurately.

I can't believe that made you so mad? It's shocking. I feel bad. It's really a shame though, i liked this site. Bored now.
