Something You Dislike About Your Favourite Character

I'm going to answer this again for Buffy, my second favorite character.

I dislike Buffy's self-righteousness and hubris. In all fairness, she isn't as bad as she used to be, she has learned a lot - but there is some part of Buffy that believes she is better than everyone else, and that is problematic, even if it does help her slay better.

What I really love about Buffy is her endless capacity to love and to forgive.

 

[The Bronze]

I love Xander but I hate how he feels like he owns Willow and Buffy. Whenever they have a date or meet someone he always has something to say about it and has this 'holier than thou' attitude and assumes he is allowed an opinion on what they do with every aspect of their lives. Especially with Buffy's relationships with Angel and Spike. He almost talks to her like she's a slut and it really makes me want to slap him.

Well to be fair if I was embarking on a relationship with a mass murderer and my friends didn't raise a few questions I'd be concerned about the standard of my friends.

 

[Fuffy]

I hate how whiny Willow can be at times.

I like her facial expressions and that she outgrew her shyness and became more confident 🙂

I always listen for the aboot. lol. It's so cute 🙂

I do too (and even thought her 'aboot' was gone for the most part by season 7, I noticed that ED slipped and said 'aboot' a couple of times during Tru Calling.

 

[Misha]

Tara - I liked how strong she was by the end. How much she grew into herself. Not really her fault, but I wish they used her more with Giles and Willow to figure out magic stuff. After the fourth season they didn't really develop that aspect further.

Giles - I didn't like his "tough love" approach in the sixth season. I know it was based of Anthony Head's needs, but character-wise, I don't think Giles would have gone, or at least wouldn't have cut off contact after what happened with Buffy coming back. Especially with Dawn. I did like how he was able to watch out for the group - his reaction to demons, Spike, and Ben, for example. He was a badass at heart who cared about his group.

Andrew (because nobody else will do him) - I think he could have been better if he was actually good or actually bad. I liked him in season seven.

 

[Fuffy]

Spike:
I don't like how he lets his emotions and impulses take over him a lot of the time or how he fixates on wanting to get in Buffy's pants when she clearly doesn't want to (big reason why I dislike Spuffy in season 6)🙁

I like how he attempted at redeeming himself when he realized that he got too far…

Faith:
I don't like how she really wanted a friend in season 3, yet when someone (Buffy) showed interest, she screwed all that potential up.

I like the head tilt, I find it kind of cute. (Spike isn't the only head tilter in the Buffyverse 😛)

Oz:
I don't like how he acted all jealous of Twillow in "New Moon Rising", since Willow dumped him in the first place.

I like his sense of humor and that he has a secretive, philosophic mind.

Drusilla: She never came back... that's the only thing I dislike about her arc. Even though I don't know when she could have been back in BtVS.

Spike: He hides his impulses and desires behind his demon. I don't know how to put it the right way, but he is a passionate character and his all-in and believes it's all because he's a vampire, whereas there is much more complexity to his nature, as shown throughout the years. I'm really not sure I'm being clear.

Tara: That one is hard. Is there something dis-likable about Tara?

Giles: I wish he trusted more Buffy at the right moment and less when he should have been a mentor and not a father (this behavior concerns his relationship with Spike, mainly)

Andrew:
I don't like how he has no sense of personal space sometimes.

I like how he doesn't define himself as 'good' or 'bad', thus making him more relatable in my eyes.

From a purely selfiss stand point we could have used more Dru in Buffy! Does anyone know why she wasn't used more? I know we had almost a whole season of her in 2 but I felt they could have featured her more in stand alone episodes after that at least.

Yeah Tara is very hard to dislike which is oddly is why many fans can't get into the character😉

I guess Giles is a little too by the book and sometimes maybe puts Buffy at risk by not including her in stuff.

Cordelia-
1) She was mean in high school. Now she had depth and I could sympathise with her the more we got to know. But still, she could be mean and I hate to see people being picked on.
2) Her vanity sometimes gets the better of her. She really should have raised more questions/concerns at the end of season 3, but I think Skip knew that appealing to her sense of self-importance was the way to avoid that. Love you Cordy, but really. I don't blame her for Jasmine by the way, I'm just saying she could have been smarter.

Ioups, I didn't pay enough attention 😉

Let's see....

Drusilla: I like the way she holds the little dog (Sunshine I think her name is?). I know she's amazingly crazy and we're shown so through the way she talks to the dog. But she holds her like an old lady would. For me it's a link to her previous sweet self (but that might be a stretch)

Spike: Is there anything left to say about him? I like his facial expressions. How quickly he can go from closed and mean (or he tries to) when people look at him and suddenly the focus is not on him anymore and we see how much he suffers from never being the right person at the right time.

Tara: She's the only one that really looks at people. Straight in the soul. She's observant, she sees Buffy isn't Buffy when she's in fact Faith, she sees what's inside of Willow or Buffy in season 6, good and bad, and she doesn't judge. She just wants to help, wants to be fair and generous and open to people. Yet she's no fool, she stands for herself, she protects fiercely the one she loves, even if it means hurting them and herself in the process, when she's confident it's the right thing to do, she just take it all in and does it. (I might have been a little carried away right there).

Favorite character: Xander

I hate: that Xander doesn't trust his friends enough to talk to them about his insecurities and home life problems. They had to know about him sleeping outside to avoid his parents from Cordelia. If Xander was more open about his feelings, things would have worked out better for him. The same thing can be said about his relationship with Anya, he bottles his feelings inside because he can't trust easily - understandable after the freaky episode with Faith. However,the whole wedding mess could have been avoided if he had talked to her or anyone about what was bothering him, the demon that violated his mind wouldn't have gotten to him so easily.

I love: that Xander can put aside his feelings for Angel and Spike when needed, like when he wanted to save Buffy from the Master in S1, and trying to save Angel in What's My Line, Amends and Graduation. Also, saving Spike in Doomed and other episodes later.

I don't like his tendency to give up when things get too hard (see season 6).
I like it when he cleans his glasses 😳

Buffy
I don't like how she thinks of herself as better than everyone else due to being the slayer.
I like how she sacrifices herself for Dawn in "The Gift".

Well Buffy is better than everyone else you just need to accept it!😀
