I apologize if there's already a thread like this, but I came across a song that immediately reminded me of a moment in Angel, and had to share it with you guys!

The song "Five Seconds To Hold You" by Devics is absolutely breathtaking and relates so well to when
Fred dies in Wesley's arms
in Angel Season Five. Here's the link to the song on Youtube: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTV-R1GNOaE"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTV-R1GNOaE[/ame]

Here are the lyrics:

Five seconds to hold you
then you'll slowly vanish from my arms
Please don't speak or break this spell
you know it doesn't matter

Five fathoms below you
I've waited a lifetime
but as you drift by over me
you know it doesn't matter

Five years without you
they couldn't tear a moment from my mind
but memories fade and so did yours
You know it doesn't matter anymore

So I just wanted to ask: are there any songs that you think could have been used in BtVS or Angel to complement a specific moment?

Well if it had come out before the show went off the air, I wish they would have used Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" for the scene where Faith wreaks havoc on the nightclub in LA... The line "The party don't start 'til I walk in" makes me think of her every single time. 😀
Also, every time I hear "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica I think it would have been beautiful (even if only the instrumental version was used) in the scene in "Innocence" where Buffy and Angel consumate their relationship. 😉

Meaning ones that weren't actually in the show?

"When You're Evil" by Voltaire sounds like it's written about Angelus, and I somewhat suspect that it's inspired by him, but I don't know anything about Voltaire except for that one song.

But ones that were in the show, "Goodbye to You" by Michelle Branch at the end of "Tabula Rasa" marked a defining moment of the Scoobies transitioning from teenage problems to adult ones.

"Place Called Home" from "A Hole In the World" marked Fred's still lost soul. And the biggest was Sarah McLachlan's "Full of Grace" marking the end of S2.

For ones that were in the show, I think you hit the nail on the head. 🙂 They couldn't have picked more fitting songs for those moments...

Face Down by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus reminds me a bit of Seeing Red.
Lyrics(chorus):
Do you feel like a man when you push her around?
Do you feel better now, as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this worlds gonna end,
As your lifes crumble down, new life she is found.

Can never decide if I prefer the acoustic or the full version.

Ooh, I love that song! I didn't know who sang it!
I love Buffy and I love music even more, but I'm not the type of person to make emotional ties with music and visuals. However, to add to the thread I'll say: Every single Sarah McLachlan song reminds me of Becoming. Literally, every time that woman opens her mouth.

Also, I know this doesn't really relate to this thread, but Goodbye to You (Michelle Branch) kinda makes me tear up every time I hear it, even not within the context of Buffy.

haha i thought i was the only one.. (goodbye to you)
"Out of control" by Chemical Brothers always makes me think of Faith
and because of a fanvid "Dead bodies everywhere" by Korn makes me think of Connor, it's really quite befitting

"Animal I Have Become" by Three Days Grace applies to several Whedonverse characters, especially Faith, Angel/Angelus, and Dark Willow. Here's some lyrics

Somebody get me through this nightmare
I can't control myself
Somebody wake me from this nightmare
I can't escape this Hell

definitely agreed!
"A Dangerous Mind" by Within Temptation ("The Trial" when Drusilla walks in)
"I Walk Alone" by Green Day (When Willow is dark and walks on that road where that bus with Jonathan in it stops)
"How To Save A Life" by The Fray (When Buffy jumps in "The Gift")

I know it is commonly associated with "Bram Stoker's Dracula" but Annie Lennox's "Love Song for a Vampire" always reminds me of Buffy and Angel. 🙂
Three Days Grace's "Never Too Late" reminds me of Buffy in S6, when she first comes back from Heaven.

This is going to be totally obscure, I would love it if someone else had heard this piece of music but I doubt it 🙂 Cape Clear is an instrumental (for fiddle) on Seth Lakeman's album Kitty Jay. Now as for a specific scene in BtVS or AtS to use it in, it could honestly be used in a quite a few but I would use it in one of the Angel/Darla flashback scenes from AtS. It's just haunting & beautiful. Another Seth lakeman song (although I suspect it's a traditional) is Farewell My Love, it's on Kitty Jay as well. Lyrics:

Farewell my love I think not you less
My heart still beats for thee,
These empty arms still for your fair rest
Those eyes to gaze at me.

Don't pity me for she'll not stay,
She scorned my heart and fades away,
Farewell my love for all we've done,
By the setting of the sun.

Farewell my love of yesteryears,
We roll upon the tide
Tomorrows' day should lead the way
and life begins tonight.

Don't pity me for I'm not done
She scorned my heart with the setting sun,
Farewell my love for all I've got,
I know I'll see you still...

Pick your favourite "lost love" scene & apply the above. For the infamous Bangel scene at the end of Angel, I would go with I Could Die For You by RHCP. Lyrics: (2nd verse & chorus)

I'm here to be your
Only go-between
To tell you of the sights
These eyes have seen

What I really wanna do
Is turn it into motion
Beauty that
I can't abuse

You know that I'd use my senses too
You can see that it's only everywhere
I'd take it all and then
I'd find a way to share

Come along and go
Along with me
Wander with me, yo
It's all for free

I could die for you
Whatchu wanna do?
Oh, this life I choose

I could die for you
Whatchu wanna do?
Oh, this life I choose

I will return with more, I love this thread!

Stop Your Sobbing by The Kinks - The end of Dead Things heh

Best Imitation of Myself by Ben Folds - Spike...Just Spike.

Out of Time by The Rolling Stones - The rush to the helicopter in Into the Woods. Also some of the lines remind me of their relationship as a whole. It's really a 'bitter' song though. 😛

No More Looking Back by The Kinks (I've been listening to them like an addict): Wesley after Fred's death.

Kinks karma
Before I even watch the show, I had seen a video in youtube about Bangel with the song I hate everything about you by Three Days Grace. So this song is now connected with them!

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?
You hate everything about me
why do you love me?

Buffy is the Slayer and Angel is a vampire. They met and after a while they had feelings. Of course they struggled, but it was inevitable!

Numb by Linkin Park always reminds me of Faith and how she sees Buffy(i'm tired of being who you want me to be...sth like that!)

Tears of an Angel by Ryandan reminds me of the final scene of the Gift. Buffy jumping and Willow telling Angel the bad news.

Wow I can't believe someone else said 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' 😛 Each time I hear it it make me think of Angel! And also another thing, the scene in s5 where Fred(who's drunk) yell at some demon 'THAT'S RIGHT YOU WALK ALONE' lol :giggle:

Also I know you said no songs from BtVS, but I heard that song before hearing it on Buff 😛 Chinese Burn always make me think of Faith, it's creepy how it almost describe her.

chinese burn Faith karma!!!
I always, always think of Spuffy when I hear Yellow by Coldplay. It describes Spikes love for Buffy so well. Haha, I almost get a little teary eyed just thinking about it, lol

"Inside of You" by Hoobastank reminds me a bit of Spuffy of BS5 & 6.

It seems so obvious
Theres something up with us
I swear I feel it
From across the room.
So can I ask you this?
Not to be forward, miss,
But I think I'll kill myself
If I never know...

What do I have to do
To get inside of you?
To get inside of you?
Cuz I love the way you move,
When I'm inside of you.
When I'm inside of you...

Just ask and I will do
Anything you want me to
There is no limit
To how far I will go..
And I'm sure I can't pretend
To be a gentlemen..
But before I began,
I just gotta know,
Just gotta know....

For now I'll play the game
And I'm waiting for your move
But I've got to say
That I never lose..

I think There You'll Be by Faith Hill fits Angel leaving Sunnydale in season 3.

When I think back
On these times
And the dreams
We left behind
I'll be glad 'cause
I was blessed to get
To have you in my life
When I look back
On these days
I'll look and see your face
You were right there for me

In my dreams
I'll always see you soar
Above the sky
In my heart
There will always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part
Of you with me
And everywhere I am
There you'll be
And everywhere I am
There you'll be

Well you showed me
How it feels
To feel the sky
Within my reach
And I always
Will remember all
The strength you
Gave to me
Your love made me
Make it through
Oh, I owe so much to you
You were right there for me

'Cause I always saw in you
My light, my strength
And I want to thank you
Now for all the ways
You were right there for me
You were right there for me
For always

In my dreams
I'll always see you soar
Above the sky
In my heart
There will always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part
Of you with me
And everywhere I am
There you'll be
And everywhere I am
There you'll be
There you'll be

Another beautiful song by Devics called "Forget Tomorrow" describes Buffy and Spike's relationship in Season Six (from Buffy's perspective) almost too perfectly.

Song:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loKSicuhXuQ"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loKSicuhXuQ[/ame]

Lyrics:

Lonely nights like an endless spire
They don't take me higher
They just bring me down
Frozen heart maybe I could love you
If you feel the coldness
You could sit by me

Please don't go, stay and close the door
Stretch the night out, forget tomorrow

It was bright 'till he brought the darkness
When I saw him pass without a single word
Fragile heart, and I tried to love him
But I couldn't love him
Maybe I can't love

So my friend, can't we just pretend
Live the moment, forget our sorrows

It's the sound and the words your mouth make
All the stories you fake, and they're just for me
It's your heart and the way I see you
And the way you see me
Maybe we could love

Please don't go, stay and close the door
Live the moment, forget tomorrow

I think the song Broken by Lifehouse really desrcibes IWRY perfectly 🙂
