Angel Investigations
I voted "Very Poorly",i thought more attention should've been paid to his past sins and the victims thereof. It could have been so amazing, but they watered it down instead.

It does matter though,if we are to take "New" Spike as someone different from "old" Spike then there needs to be a more pronounced personality difference.
There also needed to be a better understanding of just how evil he was,and to see just what his methodology of murder specifically was.
Instead they spend most of the time dealing with him being in love with Buffy, instead of him being immersed in guilt over his crimes against his victims.
Also on the point of Spike still being in love with Buffy,I never felt it made too much sense. Soulless vampire "Spike" was in love with Buffy, not "William" so why would he still have those romantic feelings for her.
But, even if you accept that he did still have those romantic feelings then why would that ever take priority in his mind over the guilt and anxiety he must have felt for all of his sins. If you will recall "William" was the sweetest and most kindhearted guy,so for him to remember these sins should have been far more traumatic than it was presented to the audience in season 7 of Buffy.
Spike should have displayed the personality characteristics of William far more and of classic "Spike" far less.
I know this has somewhat already been done with Angel, but I truly don't see how you can do a successful, believable redemption arc without having the character dealing with their guilty past. As far as more focus on the scoobies and less focus on spike ,i totally agree, that's what should have been done, but if they were going to focus on Spike they could have at least written it in a more satisfying way.
I don't think Spike has a redemption arc. I don't mean that as a slight against him, it's just not something he pursues. Redemption is not a motivation at all. He didn't wear that amulet to redeem himself, he didn't even know what it did, he wore that amulet because Buffy asked it of him. It was about her, not him. Spike does not seek to make amends, he searches for a place in the world.
This. I don't know about you, but I don't have any problem with Spike not having a redemption arc. It's not event that it was poorly done, it's that it was non-existent. If anything, his arc happens on AtS.
Do I think he redeemed himself in the end. Yes. Do I think it's something he actively seeks out. No.
Spike doesn't believe in redemption. He thinks it's a self-indulgent load of bollocks. Nothing he does after he gets his soul is about redeeming himself. He doesn't believe he has to. What's done is done in his eyes. All Spike cares about is the here and now.

Angel, Buffy, Faith, Willow, Giles (...) kill, rob, and even try to destroy the world as the situation seems to present itself, and none of them, with the exception of Faith, ever even go through the motions of accepting any sort of penalty for their crimes, something that I believe should be at least a part of any true, sincere redemption attempt.
Redemption, much beyond a really sincere "Sorry about that," doesn't seem to be a big issue with Joss. Angel, Buffy, Faith, Willow, Giles, Andrew, Gunn, Wes, Reynolds, Jayne, and I'm sure that there are others that I've missed, kill, rob, and even try to destroy the world as the situation seems to present itself, and none of them, with the exception of Faith, ever even go through the motions of accepting any sort of penalty for their crimes, something that I believe should be at least a part of any true, sincere redemption attempt.
