Spike's blond hair - goody or ridiculous?

Even though the bleached hair is a part of the whole Spike persona as we have come to accept it, I've seen James in several other roles, always with the same hair style, but without the blond color, and I don't think that I would have a very hard time accepting Spike that way, any more than I can accept Sarah with dark hair. To me, it's just more or less part of the costume that they for a particular role. It's pretty much the same thing for Jessica Alba, who I had never seen as anything but a blond before someone recommended that I watch "Dark Angel." Halfway through the first episode, I wasn't even noticing the difference.

Tell the truth, now.Just how many people here would refuse to watch a new "Spike" movie or series if James agreed to do it only if he could keep his natural hair color? Or, for that matter, if he shaved his head completely and grew a beard?

Carrrrgh
I would watch. Definitely definitely would watch!
Another question about his blonde hair.
Do you think it makes him seem more evil? I mean, Spike without his blond hair, would he still have that look of a bad boy everybody should look out for? Do you think he's dying his hair that way in order to seem more dangerous?

I think his eyebrow scar and his hollow cheeks make him look more evil than the hair 😀

The only way that could work is Spike becoming human, therefore needs "human hair". Or maybe he wants a makeover, or show Buffy he is pretty much human, like in "Crush", where he suddenly started wearing less gothic vampire clothes. But it has to have a good reason. I'll watch it anyway, it's Spike. But give his non blond hair a good reason.

This is true, when he played Captain John Hart in Torchwood he practically was a brunet Spike, lol.

Not practically. he was a brunet Spike... who was pan...

Thank god he has a scar then! Poor James, been robbed in the street when getting that scar!

And am I the only one who thinks Spike is one of the single people in the world who can look both evil AND cute at the same time?? I mean, he's evil, but he's so damn cute!!

That's funny, because every time I write someone a letter, I add some Spike/James pics to it. Glad to see you've got it in you as well 😀

Oh I'm all about Spike/James. I remember the first episode l ever saw of Buffy was Blood Ties and it was okay, but then the second episode I ever watched was After Life. That's when I fell in love with Spike and I haven't looked back 😀

I started a new thread about general James love (could I guess be general Spike love too) to keep this thread on topic...

I will say it is goody. I love Spike's hair and think it makes him look very attractive. I think James is one of those people that can pull off the super blonde look very well. Plus it fits his character and made him stand out even more along with his great personality.

I love his hair! However, James is the only person I can think of who can pull off bleached blonde hair. Whenever I see it on other men or women, I just cringe.

I love Spike's blonde hair. In fact, I think it suits James much better than his natural brunette. 🙂 I prefer his spiky blonde Billy Idol hair from the New York flashback though, to the gelled back hair we always see on him.

Oooh, the Billy Idol hair days. I kinda love you, for reminding me of that. Totes agreed! ;)

Agreed, as unattractive as that do should be it really works on James Marsters, seeing him in his natural hair is just weird and not nearly as flattering. Kind of peculiar really 🙂

I like Spike's whole look though. Again I think it's mainly JM that makes it work because of charisma, attitude and body language.
